David Schweikert, TJ Cox Request Transparency for Translated Tax Forms 2019-12-23 2019 2019-12 Republican House AZ David Schweikert S001183 schweikert.house.gov schweikert https://schweikert.house.gov/category/congress_press_release/ scraper WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. David Schweikert (AZ-06) and Rep. TJ Cox (CA-21) along with 67 other members of Congress, sent a bipartisan letter to the IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, asking him to provide more transparency about translation services at the IRS. Currently, when taxpayers provide an incorrect Taxpayer Identification Number (typically their Social Security Number) to the IRS, they are automatically enrolled in the Backup Withholding “B” Program, which orders the taxpayer to begin backup withholding of their wages until the issue is resolved. Right now, the letter issued to alert a taxpayer that they have been enrolled in this program (a “B” Notice) is only available in English. This presents an unnecessary barrier for hard-working taxpayers who have limited English proficiency. This letter asks that the IRS provide transparency in how it chooses which documents are translated and the process for translating correspondence sent to taxpayers. “Ensuring that the IRS provides translation services to taxpayers with limited English proficiency will not only ease the burden on those taxpayers but will help improve taxpayer compliance throughout the filing process. I am pleased to be a co-leader of this letter to the IRS to help more Americans file their taxes without an added stress during a burdensome time,” said Rep. David Schweikert. “Every year, taxpayers are unintentionally breaking the law because the IRS has failed to provide them tax forms in a language they understand. As Members of Congress, we must ensure that federal information of all types, but especially sensitive information like letters and forms from the IRS, are made accessible to all Americans, regardless of their English proficiency.” said Rep. TJ Cox. A signed copy of the letter can be found HERE. ### Back to News 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

Friday's letterwas first sharedby industry think tank Coin Center. The IRSpublished guidancearound taxing cryptocurrency holdings in October, addressing cost basis and forks, two long-standing questions the crypto community has had. However, the new guidance raised a number of new questions, particularly around airdrops and unwanted forks. There was also no de minimis exemption for small purchases, such as a cup of coffee. Friday's letter pointed to these unwanted forks and airdrops as one major area of concern, noting that the current guidance appears to suggest that individuals are liable for taxes on any cryptocurrencies they gain as a result of a hard fork or airdrop, regardless of whether or not they're aware they received these cryptocurrencies. "This creates potentially unwarranted tax liability and administrative burdens for users of these important new technologies and would create inequitable results," the letter said. "We do not expect this is the intended effect of the guidance, and we urge the IRS to clarify the matter." The letter specifically asks: The letter also said the congressmen are "concerned that the form of the guidance appears to indicate that this is 'established' law." The congressmen wrote that they hope the IRS continues to treat crypto as a "new and developing" area, and hope that the questions listed are answered "as soon as possible." The IRS has been ramping up its efforts in taxing crypto transactions, writingletters to exchange userswarning they may need to restate their earnings andadding a question about cryptocurrency in its Form 1040. This bill comes on the heels of aNovemberU.S. Committee on Indian Affairs hearing where Senator McSally secured VA Secretary Robert Wilkie's commitment to improve VA veteran suicide reporting and discontinue the use of other' to characterize Native American veterans. It's unacceptable that our nation's warriors are returning home from battle only to take their own lives,McSally said. We're taking action to better understand this problem so we can send a lifeline to those who need it most. Arizona is home to one of the highest populations of Native American veterans and we know that this population is at higher risk for suicide, but our data is incomplete due to poor data collection. I'm holding the VA accountable to report proper statistics. McSally's bill requires the VA to submit an annual report to Congress on suicide among veterans. While the VA has been submitting periodic reports to Congress related to veteran suicide statistics since 2016, this is not yet required by law. The bill also requires the VA to include a minimum amount of demographic information in veteran suicide reports submitted to Congress so that high-risk populations suchfemale veterans and Native American veterans can be better served. A study published by ASU just before Veterans Day noted that veterans in Arizona are over twice more likely to commit suicide compared to the rest of the state. The study also found that the female veteran suicide rate is three times the rate of non-veteran women. Click HERE to read full bill text. OnDecember 17,McSally announced that the Senate unanimously passed her bipartisan legislation to expand access to veteran treatment courts for veterans in need today. https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-votes-yes-usmca Congressman Biggs Votes YES on USMCA 2019-12-19 2019 2019-12 Republican House AZ Andy Biggs B001302 biggs.house.gov biggs https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Biggs voted in favor of the United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement championed by President Trump. The trade pact now heads to the U.S. Senate for ratification. Congressman Biggs offered the following statement: "While the USMCA is not perfect—no trade agreement of this size or scope ever could be—I commend President Trump for this historic achievement, which is a testament to years of tough negotiations with Mexico and Canada. Once ratified, the USMCA will create hundreds of thousands of new American jobs and add billions of dollars to the U.S. economy, which Arizona, as a border state, is perfectly positioned to benefit from. Our farmers will be able to sell to new markets, our exporters will deal with fewer paperwork headaches at the border, and our growing e-commerce sector will gain greater certainty that its intellectual property is being protected. Arizona businesses of all sizes—big and small—received an enormous boost from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act; I urge the Senate to act quickly to ensure that they receive similar benefit from the USMCA. "I have addressed the imperfections of this trade agreement with the Administration, U.S. Trade Representative Lighthizer, and the appropriate congressional committee chairmen. I have received assurances that my concerns will be addressed and corrections will be made." Gosar G000565 gosar.house.gov gosar https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx scraper Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) spoke on the House floor in support of the United States Mexico Canada Trade Agreement. His remarks, as prepared are: "I rise in support of the USMCA, a high-quality trade agreement, but also to raise concerns about the inclusion of the language of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. I encourage my colleagues to support the agreement, but also wish to reaffirm my concerns for the record about the inclusion of this particular language. Because it is important that this provision is not included in future trade agreements, further constraining congress’ ability to reform the law. The inclusion of this provision in trade agreements will foreclose on Congress’ ability to address important issues. In recent years, the behavior of Big Tech has been the subject of substantial scrutiny. Much of this scrutiny has revolved around the appropriateness of maintaining Section 230 in its present form. In fact, a modification of this law was enacted just last Congress. On a weekly basis, new concerns are being raised about Section 230. Illegal drug sales, child exploitation, terrorist recruitment, political bias, illegal wildlife trade, revenge porn, military servicemember scams, foreign election interference, civil rights abuses, illegal gun sales to felons, local housing violations, deepfakes, – 230 has a role. When Speaker Pelosi and I agree on an issue, there’s something there. I encourage my colleagues to support the USMCA, but raise issue about the importance of Congress’ ability to reform a law that grants broad legal immunity to companies that hold immense power over our economy and democracy. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

Today’s bipartisan vote against impeachment reconfirmed my colleagues across the aisle are unwilling to listen to the majority of Americans, and instead pursued impeachment based on their distaste for the President. Since President Trump was elected into office, the Democrats have worked tirelessly investigating him, neglecting precious time to work for the American people. Although we saw this day coming for quite some time, I am saddened our country has been put through this partisan and political impeachment process that has resulted in no evidence of President Trump committing ‘treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.’ The articles of impeachment presented before the House today are an abuse of power and this entire process has set a dangerous precedent for future presidencies. I am committed to preserving our nation’s system of checks and balances, however, these impeachment articles are partisan attempts to remove a rightfully elected president and not honest attempts to preserve our democracy.” ### Back to News 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

McSally successfully helped extend the medical expense deduction, so families with high health care costs do not see a tax increase next year. In addition, McSally delayed cuts in Medicaid funding to community hospitals known as disproportionate share hospitals (DSH), and secured extended funding for critical community health programs which support underserved and vulnerable populations. The package permanently repeals three harmful taxes imposed under the Affordable Care Act: the Health Insurance Tax (HIT), the Medical Device Tax, and the Cadillac Tax. McSally has fought to repeal these taxes since she was a member of the House of Representatives, and is a co-sponsor of all three Senate bills mandating a repeal. These wins are major breakthrough for Arizona families,McSally said.We are ensuring community hospitals can afford to keep their doors open so residents in underserved populations have a place to go for care. This bill will help drive down rising health care costs and incentivize innovation in the medical field so that Arizona families can access cutting-edge care. In addition, we are instituting policies that will help lower prescription drug costs, so no one is forced to leave their medicine at the pharmacy counter. The package includes the McSally-backedCREATES Actwhich will help lower prescription drug prices by allowing generic-drug developers to bring civil actions against brand-name drug makers for not selling them samples needed for testing during the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval process. Included in the package are other key health care priorities McSally has been advocating for: $2.8 billion to the National Institutes of Health (NIH)for Alzheimer's disease research $10 million to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the establishment of a suicide prevention program. $27 million to the CDC for the Diabetes Pr… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Congressman Biggs voted against this vindictive, partisan sham and issued the following statement: "Democrats have pursued a predetermined outcome for three years, and today, voted to overturn the will of 63 million Americans who voted for Donald J. Trump. This is a dark day for the United States of America. History will abhor the Democrats' radical, vindictive efforts to punish, harass, and remove their political opponent. "Democrats have lied about the content of the July 25 call that was shamelessly exploited, met secretly with the whistleblower, held Soviet-style hearings behind closed doors, blocked the President's counsel from participating in the fact-finding portion of the inquisition, refused to allow Republicans to call key witnesses, obstructed Republicans from asking questions, broke key House rules, and contorted the facts and context behind the Ukraine phone call to fit their predetermined narrative. Democrats started their impeachment movement in the immediate aftermath of President Trump'selection, and they have not relented to this day. "If Americans think that this divisive impeachment will end soon, they are sadly mistaken. House Democrats are promising to recommit their efforts after the Senate commences their process, no matter what outcome they reach. Thankfully, I anticipate the Senate will vote swiftly to exonerate the President, and he will continue to keep the promises he made to the American people. We are grateful for President Trump and all of his hard work to make our nation great. He is the leader our nation selected and needed for this consequential time in American history." Gosar G000565 gosar.house.gov gosar https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx scraper Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after speaking on the House floor against the partisan impeachment sham: "It is truly a sad day for America. Democrats have put their hatred of President Donald Trump above their love for our Country. My colleagues continue to invoke the Constitution as cover for their shameful actions. These very same colleagues who deride the Framers as racist, old, white men. The Constitution is only as good as the people that support it. Today, the Democrats undermine it with their frivolous actions. My colleagues claim “No one is above the law” but throughout the sham impeachment, they have blown right through any accountability for their illegal actions. Whether its releasing private phone records, restricting minority witnesses and hearings, violating the rules of the House, or covering up corruption in Ukraine, they should be ashamed. Never before in American history has a President been impeached by a single political party after failing to prove any crimes were committed. Democrats know they can’t beat Donald Trump fairly in an election, so they need to rig it in their favor – they’ve even said so in December of 2016 before the President took office. Why are they so afraid of President Trump? Are they worried about what we’ll find behind Door #1—the FISA Court, we know how that is starting to turn out. Or is it Door #2 – the corruption in at the FBI, DING DING DING, we’ve got another winner, and it isn’t a good winner. Maybe is it Door #3 – the Intelligence Services, or could it be Door #4 – the State Department. Maybe it’s Door #5 – Draining the Swamp: business as usual in Washington DC. Maybe it was the misconduct of the previous administration that they are looking to cover. Maybe its all of the above. It was the weaponization of the government against the People. I am proud to stand in support of President Trump, who has done exactly what we elected him to do. Our founding fathers never intended for impeachment to be used as a political tool. Today's bipartisan vote against impeachment reconfirmed my colleagues across the aisle are unwilling to listen to the majority of Americans, and instead pursued impeachment based on their distaste for the President. Since President Trump was elected into office, the Democrats have worked tirelessly investigating him, neglecting precious time to work for the American people. Although we saw this day coming for quite some time, I am saddened our country has been put through this partisan and political impeachment process that has resulted in no evidence of President Trump committing treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.' The articles of impeachment presented before the House today are an abuse of power and this entire process has set a dangerous precedent for future presidencies. I am committed to preserving our nation's system of checks and balances, however, these impeachment articles are partisan attempts to remove a rightfully elected president and not honest attempts to preserve our democracy. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

The legislation wouldprovide new federal assistance to complete the required Tier II Environmental Impact Study for segments of the project. Cross-border and interstate commerce are a major driver for job creation in Arizona. In order to keep up with our state's rapid growth, we mustmodernize our infrastructure. Currently, Phoenix and Las Vegas are the only two major cities in America not connected by a highway, said Sen. Martha McSally. When this project is completed, the I-11 corridor will provide a direct route from our southern border to Phoenix to Las Vegas. I am glad to work with Sen. Sinema and Rep. Stanton to ensure the project is completed in a timely manner in order to meet the growing need for quality infrastructure in our state. We're working together on this bipartisan bill to advance a project that could create enormous economic potential in our state, said Rep. Greg Stanton. I-11 would open up a new transportation corridor in Arizona, leading to new jobs and increased trade with our partners in Mexico and Canada. I'm encouraged by this next step forward to accelerate I-11. I-11 offers a unique opportunity to stimulate job growth not only in the important areas of tourism and travel, but in other major industry sectors such as health care, aerospace, logistics, distribution, and technology. These industries need a dependable, reliable and efficient transportation corridor to be successful.Another major benefit of I-11 will be reduced traffic congestion in key areas. In addition to I-11 being vital to the overall economic success of our region, this project will bolster the nation's options for additional trade routes and trading opportunities with Mexico and Canada. I-11 would be a vital segment to the CANAMEX Corridor, as this project has the potential to connect the U.S. to emerging economies in Latin America. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) conference report funds Arizona's critical military missions, supports Arizona service members and their families, and makes important reforms to the way the military investigates and prosecutes sexual assault. "The men and women of our military should know that we have their backs, said McSally. This year's annual defense bill provides the biggest pay raise in a decade and improves the readiness to fight tonight while also investing in important future capabilities. As home to 10 military installations, Arizona plays a key role in many missions critical to our nation's success on the battlefield. It provides funding for modernization of the A-10 at Davis-Monthan AFB, a new hangar and barracks at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, and additional F-35s at Luke AFB for training the next generation of F-35 pilots. The legislation also includes 17 of 18 of my reforms to combat sexual assault in the military. For example, when investigating sexual assault, timeliness and effectiveness are not mutually exclusive. McSally said in part: Since I have been in Congress, I led the fight to stop the A-10 from being mothballed and this bill continues to secure resources needed to modernize the A-10, based at Davis Monthan AFB. We also succeeded in funding a new hangar and barracks at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, and additional F-35s at Luke AFB and Yuma for training and deploying the next generation of F-35 pilots. I also secured funding to upgrade the Barry Goldwater training ranges, and many other Arizona initiatives. The annual defense bill is about protecting the people who protect us. This year's bill reiterates to the men and women of our military that we have their backs. She added: The Senate voted in a landslide bipartisan way (86-8) to fund affected military construction projects in this bill. Then, during conference negotiations, Democrats refused to fully fund these projects due to political games surrounding border security. U.S. Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA), John Cornyn (R-TX), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Chris Coons (D-DE), Tina Smith (D-MN), Rick Scott (R-FL), and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) are co-sponsors of the legislation. The Veteran Treatment Court Coordination Act of 2019 establishes a program in coordination with the Department of Veterans Affairs, to help state, local, and tribal governments to develop and maintain veteran treatment courts. The bill would provide grants, training, and technical assistance for veteran treatment courts and communities interested in starting a program. Some veterans come home with invisible wounds that result in addiction or trouble with the law, said McSally. Instead of spiraling down, veteran treatment courts provide an opportunity for vets to receive treatment and add accountability to reverse that spiral, heal, and continue to contribute positively to society. I have seen their powerful lifesaving impact first-hand in Arizona and look forward to getting our bill to the president's desk to help more vets around the country. As veterans return home, the transition to civilian life can often be complicated by PTSD, brain injury, or other trauma and mental health issues. Veteran treatment courts have played a critical role in the criminal justice system by working to help get our veterans get back on track,Kaine said. I'm proud of this bipartisan legislation that will expand access to these courts, help rehabilitate those in need, and reduce recidivism. OnNovember 5, McSally introducedtheVeteran Treatment Court Coordination Act of 2019. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Democrats have sought to remove or delegitimize President Donald J. Trump since the day he won the 2016 presidential election. Representative Al Green (D-TX) expressed his desire to impeach the President while Barack Obama was still President. Media outlets and others stoked this fire and have kept it going for three years. Their efforts have been uneven and unsuccessful. The most notorious attempt was the Russian collusion allegations that consumed more than $30 million and took the time of 19 FBI agents and operatives, hundreds of interviews, and hundreds of thousands of pages of documents. The conclusion was that the Trump campaign did not conspire, coordinate, cooperate, or collude with the Russians to interfere in the 2016 election. Even now, however, Representatives who sit on the House Judiciary Committee and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI or Intel) insist that they have evidence of collusion. In August 2019, a leaker, who had been told about a telephone conversation between President Trump and Ukraine President Zelensky, contacted HPSCI staff. Even though HPSCI Chairman Schiff publicly denied this contact, media accounts exposed that there had indeed been contact, and insinuated that there might have been assistance in drafting the whistleblower's complaint, which has launched this latest attack on President Trump. Speaker Pelosi announced the opening of an impeachment inquiry based on the complaint. During her announcement she made representations of the contents of the complaint, as had Chairman Schiff. The complaint was proven to be substantively false and utterly without merit when President Trump released a transcript of the phone call. The testimony presented to the Judiciary Committee came in two hearings. In one hearing three law professors who despise this President urged impeachment. The vote came after Chairman Jerry Nadler recessed the committee overnight in a show of bad faith to the Republicans and to the process – in order to hold the vote this morning in front of the cameras. Congressman Biggs voted against the articles and issued the following statement: "Last night's stunning turn of events was yet another in a long line of dishonest, bad-faith maneuvers from the Democrats. They have proven at every step of this impeachment process that they will do and say anything to accomplish their partisan, vindictive goal. Republicans will remember Chairman Nadler's shameful action for a long time to come. "For three years, Democrats have been obsessed with impeaching President Trump. They took a big step to overturning the 2016 presidential election with their vote. This process was designed to attain a predetermined outcome--impeachment. Democrats have lied about the content of the July 25 call, met secretly with the whistleblower, held Soviet-style hearings behind closed doors, blocked the President's counsel from participating in the fact-finding portion of the inquisition, refused to allow Republicans to call key witnesses, obstructed Republicans from asking questions, broke key House rules, and contorted the facts and context behind the Ukraine phone call to fit their pre-determined narrative. "The facts are on the President's side and these facts have not changed. The President showed unprecedented transparency by releasing the transcript of the July 25 call, and the transcript showed no quid pro quo or any crime. President Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have repeatedly stated that there was no pressure involving the foreign aid. At the time of the call, President Zelensky didn't even know the aid had been temporarily withheld (while U.S. officials worked to ensure that the new Ukrainian administration was com… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

Read the full letter HERE or below. December 13, 2019 The Honorable Mitch McConnell Majority Leader United States Senate The Honorable Charles Schumer Minority Leader United States Senate The Honorable Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House United States House of Representatives The Honorable Kevin McCarthy Republican Leader United States House of Representatives Dear Congressional Leadership: As we wrap up the year and finalize the negotiations on Fiscal Year 2020 appropriations, we urge you to include No Budget, No Pay as part of any end-of-year spending package. Appropriating funds is the most basic duty of Congress, but for the past 40 years, Congress has cut corners by passing short-term spending bills Continuing Resolutions that just keep government funded at existing levels. When Congress fails to pass appropriations, American people are hurt. Just this year, American families suffered under the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Air traffic controllers, members of the Coast Guard, and fire safety officials worked without pay, while Members of Congress continued to receive their paychecks. That is wrong, and we're urging you to move forward with No Budget, No Pay before the end of the year. The concept is simple: Members of Congress should not be paid if they don't pass appropriations. If Congress can't do its most basic task, then Members of Congress shouldn't get a paycheck. This proposal has bipartisan support and is already moving through Congress. It was approved by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in June, and is included as part of the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act (S. 1877). By expanding the accessibility for our neighbors in Mexico across the state we will continue to grow our economy and help support our local businesses. (AZ-04) released the following statement after voting for the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act: Today I voted for passage of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). With the Yuma Proving Ground and as well as Marine Corp Air Station Yuma (home to the AV-8B Harrier IIs and F-35B Lightning IIs of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 (MAWTS-1)), in my district, along with Luke AFB, Ft. Huachuca, Davis-Monthan and many other military assets in Arizona, I am pleased to support our military and its mission to defend our nation. This bill gives our troops a much-deserved pay raise, will help rebuild our military and, with reallocation by the President, some of these funds may be used to secure our border. These are all positive gains derived from the bill. I remain concerned, however, that the NDAA fails to acknowledge the disturbing revelations of the Pentagon’s first-ever audit, where $21 million of taxpayer money went missing. We need all public agencies, including the military, to be held accountable for wise and prudent spending. Further, the NDAA fails to address reforms for military justice, including prosecutorial abuse and harassment of our warriors, self-defeating rules of engagement, and judicial protocols which often denies our warfighters the justice and liberties they deserve. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

The day President Trump was inaugurated, the Washington Post called for his impeachment. Mere months after President Trump's inauguration, Congressman Al Green introduced the first of his three impeachment resolutions. Many Democrats have been on the record over the last three years – for various reasons – to make their case for impeachment of President Trump. "This latest hoax that Democrats have used to pursue impeachment of President Trump is completely without merit. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20) funds Arizona's critical military missions, supports Arizona service members and their families, and makes important reforms to the way the military investigates and prosecutes sexual assault. I am glad to see all of my key provisions included in the final annual defense bill,McSally said.As a SASC member, I fought for the priorities that matter to Arizonans and our military bases. This bill reaffirms our commitment to the men and women in uniform by providing the highest pay raise in a decade and protecting military families living on base from greedy contractors who fail to ensure safe living conditions. We are investing in Arizona's military missions and in turn increasing our nation's military readiness. This bill provides key funding for the F-35 mission at Luke AFB, and the A-10 and EC-37 Compass Call missions at Davis-Monthan AFB. The Marine Air Corps Station in Yuma will get a new hanger and new quarters for enlisted troops. We also highlight the critical missions at Ft. Huachuca and Camp Navajo that are essential to our national defense. The legislation also takes a historic step towards combating military sexual assault by including 17 of my 18 provisions to improve timeliness and effectiveness of investigations and support to victims,McSally continued. For example, the bill includes my request for all the services to increase the number of personnel investigating sexual assault cases. It also ensures a victim has access to a Special Victim Counsel (SVC) within 72 hours of reporting an assault. This extension is low-cost but has an incredibly high impact, the Senators wrote.About 3.6 million taxpayers, including 1.4 million who are ages 65 and over, will benefit from the medical expense deduction remaining at the 7.5 percent income threshold. Moreover, over two-thirds fall into the middle sixty percent of the income distribution. This deduction provides needed financial relief for Americans with high medical expenses, particularly seniors and individuals with disabilities or serious medical conditions, the Senators continued. As Congress works to complete action on a number of must-pass items before the end of the year, we urge you to extend the current medical expense deduction for future tax years. The medical expense deduction is vital for those who have pre-existing medical conditions, suffer chronic medical conditions, experience unexpected illnesses or injuries, or face costs for long-term care services that are not covered by insurance. The support for this deduction is widespread in the medical community, including organizations such as the AARP, American Heart Association, National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs, LeadingAge, Fight Colorectal Cancer, Medicare Rights Center, FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Triage Cancer,… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Community hospitals provide health care to our most vulnerable populations and serve as the safety net for those in need, said McSally. But we can't ask them to fall into the red to provide vital care for so many in underserved and rural communities. My bill would stop funding cuts to community hospitals so that they aren't forced to raise rates or cut services on the many patients they serve, or close their doors for good. McSally's bill, the DSH Cuts Delay Act of 2019 (S. 2959), woulddelay funding cuts to Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments for two years. DSH paymentsgo to eligible hospitals that serve a disproportionate share of low-income patients with special needs, including children, seniors and the disabled. More than 35 percent of Arizona's hospitals are DSH hospitals. Medicaid DSH payments are intended to help hospitals offset uncompensated care such as unpaid costs of care for uninsured individuals and costs not covered in the Medicaid shortfall. The currentdelay of DSH paymentcuts are set to expireon December 20, 2019. Support from Arizona's health care leaders and hospitals: Steve Purves, President and CEO, Valleywise Health:We are very grateful for Senator McSally's efforts to delay cuts to DSH funding for two years. As Arizona's safety net health system, we have a great appreciation for how these funds support medical education as well as the care of vulnerable patients throughout the state. Mike Patterson, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer, Havasu Regional Medical Center:On behalf of Havasu Regional Medical Center, I am pleased to support the bill proposed by Senator McSally to delay Medicaid DSH cuts.If enacted, the cuts will reduce health care spending by $4 billion in the first year, followed by $8 billion a year for FY 2021-2025. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement: "In what is typically a season of joy and reflection for the nation, Speaker Pelosi has gifted America an impeachment that will bring further division, unhappiness, and animus. Speaker Pelosi is rushing her illegitimate impeachment sham through the House before a self-imposed Christmas deadline, ignoring all evidence that clears President Trump from impeachable offenses, and in contravention of historical precedent and House rules. Speaker Pelosi has stated that President Trump is a threat to ‘our democracy.' If this were the case, why did she allow the House to recess all of August, a week in September, two weeks in October, and eleven days for the Thanksgiving holiday? As Professor Jonathan Turley stated in Monday's House Judiciary hearing, this is the Democrats' abuse of power for the manner and speed in which they have conducted this impeachment inquisition. "The facts are on President Trump's side, and the American people understand the Democrats' vindictive efforts against our duly elected President. The Democrats threatened to impeach President Trump just months after he was inaugurated. They first tried to use Special Counsel Mueller and the Russian hoax to accomplish their dirty work. When that failed, they perpetuated the Ukraine phone call hoax. As they proceed down this impeachment path, Democrats manipulated evidence, distorted context, and removed any semblance of due process. Surprising no one, their predetermined outcome will accomplish their goal: impeachment of their hated, political opponent. "The 116th Congress may be one of the most consequential in American history. Democrats have prioritized impeachment above all else. History will not look favorably on their efforts to impeach a president simply because they don't like what he stands for or that he keeps his promises to the Ame… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

During a U.S. Senate Armed Services Subcommittee hearing to discuss servicemember, family, and veteran suicides and prevention strategies, McSally highlighted a success story from the Be Connected program in Arizona. I want to highlight a good news example in Arizona, said McSally. We have this Be Connected program. In 2017 it started and it's really working to connect veterans, servicemembers, families, whatever support they have that goes back not in the immediate crisis, but what happens earlier on that chain of events that happens. In rural Arizona, a disabled veteran called Be Connected and the question was Can someone help clean up after his pets?' In reality, once a volunteer showed up, they realized the pet was a barrier for him to get treatment for his substance abuse. But he didn't want to lose his dog. They were able to meet him where he was, ensure someone was going to be able to take care of his dog, while he went in and got the treatment he needed through a 28-day program. At the local level, with local volunteers, with federal support, we really could be empowering local communities to be the neighbor, be the friend, remove those barriers, and get people the care they need. McSally asked Acting Director, Suicide Prevention Program, Department Of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Miller: What else can we do, Dr. Miller, for these types of programs to incentivize them, especially for those vast majority of veterans who are taking their own lives but you don't even have them in the VA system? Dr. Miller: I was in Arizona two weeks ago and I was working with the [Be] Connected individuals and am very impressed by what's occurring thereThat's what I think we can work on together is combining the power and the resources at the federal and the local level realizing that at the federal level at the VA, we can't do it alone. Click HERE to watch her introduction. McSally's remarks, as prepared for delivery: Chairman Graham, Ranking Member Feinstein, and members of the Judiciary Committee, thank you very much for allowing me this opportunity to introduce the committee to Judge Scott Rash who has been nominated to the district court for the District of Arizona. Judge Rash currently serves with distinction on the Pima County Superior Court in my hometown of Tucson. Since he was appointed to the superior court in 2010, he has been on the civil bench, criminal bench, and the family law bench, where he currently serves as the presiding judge. Judge Rash has earned the respect of his colleagues on the court with his fairness, hard work, and willingness to take on difficult tasks. I know that he will be greatly missed on the superior court, but that court's loss is the Arizona district court's gain. Judge Rash came to the superior court already with an impressive resume. He was a partner at Gabroy, Rollman & Boss, a Tucson law firm, where he focused on civil litigation. Before his time in private practice, Judge Rash served as a criminal prosecutor in the Arizona Attorney General's Office. He is also a certified public accountant and worked in the forensic accounting field before attending law school. Judge Rash has been a terrific state court judge, and I am confident he will be an excellent federal court judge as well. Judge Rash is joined today by his family, including his wife, Dr. Robin Rash, a family practice physician. His three children are in the middle of finals this week I'm guessing this is a pretty stressful week for the whole Rash family -- so they are unfortunately unable to be here in person. During a U.S. Committee on Armed Services hearing on the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) privatized housing findings, McSally highlighted the continuing issue of substandard living conditions in military housing facilities. It's hard enough to serve in the military. It's hard enough to be a spouse of someone who serves in the military, but you add onto it the challenges that we're talking about here today, and the types of stories we've heard for what families have had to put up with. As someone who has served myself, this pisses me off,McSally said.So maybe some of the CEOs need to move into some military housing over the holidays. What do you guys think about that? And see how they feel trying to figure out where they're going to put up their Christmas tree or where they're going to be serving Christmas dinner. McSally asked the GAO Director of Defense Capabilities and Management if there are any companies performing acceptable work. I see there's basically 14 companies that have been involved in privatized military housing. Are any of them not acting like slumlords at this point? Are any of them doing a good job? GAO Director of Defense Capabilities and Management Elizabeth Field said:I wouldn't want to characterize any individual company as good across the board or bad across the board. I would say at almost every installation we've visited we found that the military housing officials on the ground were extremely frustrated with the private partner personnel on the ground. [They] were not getting the cooperation or support they needed. Download McSally's questioning HERE. Arizona lawmakers on what they're thankful for 2019-12-02 2019 2019-12 Republican House AZ David Schweikert S001183 schweikert.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON Impeachment. Immigration. Investigations. Campaigning already for the 2020 elections. With all the chaos going on in Washington, it might seem like there's not a lot to be thankful for. Which may be why Arizona lawmakers' thoughts turned to home when they were asked what they would be thankful for this holiday. I'm so thankful for my family, I have three grandsons under the age of 4. I have a 2-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old and they're just the joy of my life, said Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Tucson. My husband said, Oh, I know now why we had children it's so we could have grandchildren.' That was echoed by Rep. David Schweikert, R-Fountain Hills, who said he has been blessed with the world's most perfect little girl. She just turned 4 years old and it's hard to describe how joyful that is. My wife and I have waited a long time and I never thought I could have that much fun, Schweikert said. Some patriotic notes crept into the discussion. I'm thankful for the freedoms we have in America and the men and women in uniform who protect those freedoms, said Sen. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., an Air Force veteran herself. I'm thankful for my family, I'm thankful for my dad who was so hard-working and passed away when I was 12, McSally said. Just the opportunities I've had in my life because of him and my mom and all their hard work. Rep. Tom O'Halleran, D-Sedona, also touched on family and country. We all get together for Thanksgiving, O'Halleran said. I'm happy for the health of my family and trying to make sure that our country does better. I'm thankful very much for the fact that I was born in America. -Cronkite News video by Heather Cumberledge Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Phoenix, managed the holiday trifecta, giving thanks for his constituents, his family and sports. I'm grateful to represent the best district in Arizona, seat 9, Stanton said. Gosar G000565 gosar.house.gov gosar https://gosar.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx scraper WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Paul A. Gosar D.D.S. released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation’s announced the winners of the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants: “I am pleased to report that the Kingman Municipal Airport as well Prescott Regional Airport were the recipients of AIP grants, a much-needed infusion for rehabilitation and construction. These airports are key drivers of our economy in Arizona's fourth congressional district, and this additional funding will allow them to expand, modernize, and continue operations vital to our community,” said Congressman Paul Gosar. “This is an exciting time! It will replace our main runway to help develop transportation loading and multimodal transportation logistics. It is an important piece of infrastructure that will help keep Kingman competitive," said Mayor Jen Miles. “Prescott Regional Airport has experienced unprecedented growth since the 2018 addition of 50-seat regional jet service by United Express, operated by SkyWest Airlines. Constructed in 1948, our passenger terminal was sorely in need of replacement to safely and efficiently serve the 70,000+ total passengers expected to use the airport annually in the future,” said Airport Director Robin Sobotta. “This extraordinary level of Federal funding support will be transformational for our airport, our City, and the entire region. The City of Prescott is appreciative of the continuous support and advocacy of the USDOT/FAA Office of Airports, and our dedicated Federal, state and local elected officials, including Representative Paul Gosar.” “This is an important day for the City of Prescott,” said Mayor Greg Mengarelli. “This brings Prescott Regional Airport one step closer to this important new chapter in passenger air service. We sincerely appreciate all of the assistance provided by Congressman Gosar’s office, and all of our Federal elected officials in securing this funding.” “The robust economy is enabling more passengers to travel by air so this Administ… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:43:09Z

During an U.S. Committee on Indian Affairs hearing on honoring a nation's promise to Native veterans, McSally specifically highlighted the lack of proper, useful statistics on Native veteran suicide. This is just unacceptable that those who took their oath of office and were willing to put their lives on the line return home after surviving battle only to take their own lives,McSally said.More has to be done specifically for Native American veterans. My understanding is that even in the data collection they're listed as other' so we don't even understand what the scope of the problem is specifically for Native American veterans who are at risk for suicide or who have committed suicide. I just want to follow up on how we're gathering data. If we don't know what the problem is, we don't know how to fix the problem. Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie said:This is our number one clinical priority. Later in the hearing, Secretary Wilkie committed to working with the senators to collect accurate data on Native American veteran suicide. The Senators' bill the Supporting Veteran Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence Act would connect veterans exposed to domestic or sexual violence with resources from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and improve coordination between the VA and local domestic violence and sexual assault crisis centers. Connecting survivors of domestic or sexual violence with VA resources not only serves veterans, but also helps preserve limited crisis center and shelter resources. Shaheen first introduced this legislation in the 114thCongress. According to the VA, approximately one third of women veterans experience intimate partner violence a type of domestic violence at some point in their lifetime. Earlier this year, the Department of Defense released its annual Report on Sexual Assault in the Military, which showed a startling 50 percent increase in assaults against servicewomen since their last report in 2016. And according to a New York Times report, Pentagon figures confirm that approximately 10,000 servicemen are sexually assaulted in the military every year. As a result of their military service, veterans are potentially eligible for a range of benefits that could be helpful in removing a family from an abusive situation including housing assistance, disability payments, medical care including for certain dependents, mental health services and peer support. However, often, veterans seeking assistance may not be aware of the entirety of their benefits. Domestic and sexual violence has no place in… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

TheHumane Cosmetics Actwould phase out the sale of any cosmetic products developed using animal testing and make it unlawful to conduct cosmetic animal testing in the U.S. It's long past time to end cosmetics animal testing in the U.S. Not only is this practice inhumane, but it is also ineffective and costly, McSally said.Companies across the U.S. now successfully use alternative methods of testing that more accurately predict the effect of cosmetics on humans. This bipartisan bill would protect innocent animals from needless abuse, while modernizing our cosmetics industry. Animal testing is cruel and unnecessary and must be ended,Booker said. This bipartisan legislation, which has support from a broad coalition of stakeholders, is an important step in the transition to more scientifically reliable test methods and toward the elimination of animal testing once and for all. I'm proud to support this bipartisan legislation as it requires cosmetic companies to verify the safety of their products without the use of animal testing. While nearly 600 cosmetic companies already use alternatives to animal testing, this legislation would build on that progress by expediting the consideration of other reliable testing alternatives. I urge my Senate colleagues to join me in supporting this legislation so that our cosmetics industry can continue to create safe products for consumers without testing on animals, said Portman. "There are plenty of cost-effective and accurate ways to gauge the safety of cosmetic products without resorting to outdated and unnecessary tests on animals," said Whitehouse. "This bipartisan bill is an important step in moving toward safer, more humane testing methods." In a Nov. 14 letter to Secretary Chao, McSally wrote that she supports the cities' request for $2 million to begin planning for the design of a corridor that integrates business, affordable housing, and increased access for riders, pedestrians and cyclists. McSally, who recently led an effort to block $15.4 million in cuts to Arizona transit agencies, told Chao that the proposal supports economic development and access to jobs along the transit corridor linking the cities. As part of this proposal, these resources would allow Tucson to identify improvements in designated Opportunity Zones along the north-south route, leveraging connectivity between the City's highly successful Sun Link Streetcar project and the Tucson International Airport on the south end, she wrote. I support these efforts to integrate multimodal transit and advance planning efforts through community partnerships. Other public support for this project includes the Pima Association of Governments. McSally has been a champion of transportation projects in the Senate. Earlier this year she secured $2.6 million in federal funding for the purchase of low- or no-emission buses in Tucson. And earlier this month she joined a community celebration at the launch of an electric shuttle at Sabino Canyon, a popular recreation spot in Tucson. McSally was a strong advocate for the electric shuttle while serving in the U.S. House of Representatives. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
https://biggs.house.gov/media/in-the-news/op-ed-reps-biggs-and-hice-trump-impeachment-effort-may-be-abandoned-house OP-ED: Reps. Biggs and Hice: Trump impeachment effort may be abandoned by House Democrats fearing election losses 2019-11-16 2019 2019-11 Republican House AZ Andy Biggs B001302 biggs.house.gov     legacy Don't be surprised if House Democrats never bring up a vote to impeach President Trump. And if they do, it will only be because their leaders are willing to pay the price of seeing some Democrats who were elected in swing districts carried by Trump in 2016 go down to defeat in 2020. The Democrats may not have suffered a fatal blow to their impeachment case in House Intelligence Committee impeachment hearings Wednesday and Friday – but they are very close to the edge. The hearings featured the testimony of the Democrats' star witnesses – acting Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent on Wednesday, followed Friday by former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. The Democrats started their case with a promise to the American people that there is clear evidence of some crime for which President Trump ought to be impeached. But they failed to deliver any impeachment "dirt." Instead, they only managed to produce three bureaucrats who are unhappy that Trump was engaged in foreign policy with Ukraine without them. When Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, asked Taylor and Kent to identify an impeachable act committed by President Trump, the bureaucrats sat in their seats in stunned silence. The awkward pause was only broken when Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., began a rambling diatribe. The witnesses could not state an impeachable offense, and neither can the Democrats. In Friday's hearing with former Ambassador Yovanovitch, Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, asked her if she had any information regarding President Trump accepting any bribes or being involved in criminal activity. She clearly answered "no" to both questions. This was an additional dagger in the Democrats' morphing case for impeachment. The Democrats were sucked into Schiff's vortex of impeachment obsession. He has ambled along for the past three years trying to find a rationale for impeachment, only to be foiled by the turn of events. When the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mue… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-06-27T23:43:09Z

Congressman Biggs joined 178 fellow Republicans to vote against this bill and offered the following statement: "Unfortunately, this was another missed opportunity to work together to pass a bipartisan bill that benefits all Americans. I could not support a bill to grant a taxpayer-funded agency the authority to fast-track key economic decisions without appropriate oversight, favor some businesses over others for arbitrary political reasons, or provide taxpayer-backed financing to entities owned and controlled by the Chinese government, including enterprises involved in military activities and human rights abuses. As you know Arizona is home to over 500,000 veterans, and only one-third seek care at one of the VA's facilities. Following the national wait time scandal of 2014 that started at the Phoenix VA, Congress passed multiple pieces of legislation, including the landmark MISSION Act of 2018. This has allowed veterans greater access and choice in their care, McSally wrote. As you consider a suitable candidate for replacement, you should ensure that all of these successful programs remain a priority. This bill makes two major reforms to the budget process. First, it would force federal government departments and agencies to justify new spending requests every year, rather than wait for steadily growing lump sums from Congress. Second, it continues Congressman Biggs' longstanding commitment to "no budget, no pay" by holding the salaries of Members of Congress in escrow if they do not agree to a budget resolution in a timely manner after the current two-year agreement ends. "Last month, the Congressional Budget Office made a sobering announcement: our budget deficit is predicted to hit nearly $1 trillion by the end of 2019, the highest it's been in seven years. On top of this deficit, our national debt now stands at over $23 trillion. That amounts to nearly $70,000 for every U.S. citizen: man, woman, and child. We are in the midst of a fiscal catastrophe that will imperil the future of our children and grandchildren if we don't take immediate steps to rein in spending. "One of the reasons we are in this mess is because Congress and federal agencies believe they should be immune from making the same tough spending decisions that families across the country make every week. The Budget Process Enhancement Act would put an end to decades worth of budget practices that are so egregiously sloppy and wasteful they would make even a second-rate CPA blanch. And if Members of Congress are unable to do their jobs and put together responsible budgets every year, they shouldn't see a dime of salary." – Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05) "A nation does not naturally grow a debt nearly the size of its GDP unless it suffers from systematic failures. That is what we are facing today in Washington, where the institutions of Government have given up on their basic responsibilities. Once enacted, this bill would require the Treasury Secretary to issue bonds linked to U.S. Gross Domestic Product, called ‘trills’, to pay the principal and interest on the public debt. This legislation would also authorize the President to rescind certain unobligated balances, which are currently estimated to be over $1,000 billion, in addition to selling off certain mortgage-related assets. “The debt is sky-rocketing out of control, yet Congress still fails to address our massive spending problem. Unless Congress begins managing the debt, it will inevitably need to address raising the debt ceiling again. This legislation would use trills as a responsible management tool to help the federal government meet its debt obligations,” said Congressman David Schweikert. Trill dividends fluctuate depending on GDP, therefore creating a more stable stimulus. Under H.R. 5083, these GDP-linked bonds would help relieve recession pressures on the government once the debt limit is reached. Background: Congressman Schweikert previously introduced the Debt Ceiling Alternative Act during the 115th Congress. This legislation would use trills as a responsible management tool to help the federal government meet its debt obligations, said Congressman David Schweikert. Original Co-Sponsors of the bill include Congressman Mark Meadows (NC-11), Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05), and Congressman Matt Gaetz (FL-01). H.R. 5083 is endorsed by FreedomWorks. During a U.S. Committee on Energy and Natural Resources hearing to consider the nomination of Dan Brouillette to be Secretary of Energy, McSally highlighted Arizona's leadership in solar technology. We're now number 3 in solar [capacity] in Arizona, with the opportunity to grow, but we still need breakthrough technologies in storage because the sun doesn't shine at night,McSally said.Arizona research institutions and companies are working really hard on research for this type of technology. I want to get your perspective on support from the department on working with universities and the private sector, specifically on the energy storage issue, because we're going to hit a point where we can't really go much further. Deputy Secretary of the Department of Energy Dan Brouillette said:I agree with you Senator and look forward to working with you, should I be confirmed, and the good folks in Arizona to figure out some of these tough problems. We're very interested in developing the talent we need to hire over the next few years. One of the things I'd like to mention to youI know it's not in your state so I apologize for that, perhaps we can do one in Arizona as wellrecently Dr. Martin Keller at the National Renewable Energy Department in Boulder, Colorado. He worked closely with the university there, the University of Colorado Boulder, to start a brand new graduate program that's focused on renewable energy (and) that's focused on the lab itself, so I'd like to explore opportunities like that as well so we can build this pipeline of talent coming into these areas. Brouilette accepted an invitation from McSally to visit Arizona and learn more about how Arizona's universities can support the DOE's initiatives focused on renewable energy. TheVeterans' Entry to Apprenticeship Actallows military veterans to use their Post 9-11 GI Bill benefits for enrollment into pre-apprenticeship programs that equip them with skills needed to enter the skilled-trade industry. "Military veterans have a unique set of attributes that make them great assets to our workforce, but it is important that they can use their earned GI Bill benefits to gain the training and skills they need,McSally said. Each year, about 200,000 members of our Armed Forces will reenter the workforce or pursue higher education. This bill opens doors so that more of those veterans can enter the skilled-trade industry, which provides good-paying jobs with unlimited career opportunities. Currently, GI Bill benefits do not cover the cost of the Department of Labor approved pre-apprenticeship programs, which are required for entry into some apprenticeship programs. Companion legislation was introduced in the U.S House of Representatives by Congressman Ted Budd (R-NC). McSally introduced this legislation in both 114th and 115th Congress as a member of the House. OnNovember 8, McSally cleared a path for more employers to participate in the Department of Defense's (DoD) SkillBridge program. OnNovember 5, McSally introduced bipartisan legislation to expand access to veteran treatment courts. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

In 2018, small businesses represented 99.9 percent of all United States firms and more than 99.4 percent of all Arizona firms. Arizona has over 550,000 small businesses and one million small business employees. With small businesses comprising over 99 percent of our country's businesses, our economy depends on their success, McSally said. When Arizona small business owners told me they were being forced to shoulder the cost of federal work for up to a month, I knew Congress had to act. Small businesses rely on quick, reliable payments so they can in turn pay their staff and fund new ventures. My bill speeds up payment processing times so that small businesses can continue to serve as the backbone of our economy. The Accelerated Payments for Small Business Act would require federal agencies contracting with small businesses to pay those businesses within 15 days, instead of the current 30-day standard. The Small Business Payment for Performance Act would require federal agencies to make a partial payment of at least 50 percent to contractors when the project requires adjustments that differ from the original scope of work. https://biggs.house.gov/media/in-the-news/op-ed-trump-impeachment-hearings-prove-whistleblower-must-appear-and-testify OP-ED: Trump impeachment hearings prove that 'whistleblower' must appear and testify 2019-11-13 2019 2019-11 Republican House AZ Andy Biggs B001302 biggs.house.gov     legacy The latest attempt to remove President Trump from office by Democrats rests upon the anonymous complaint of an unidentified government employee. Having failed in their attempt to tarnish him after their bogus Russian witch hunt (hoax), they wanted desperately to find a catalyst to continue stalking the president. Initially, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff agreed that the "whistleblower" would testify before Congress. But, that was before the chairman was outed as having misled the American public on whether he or his staff had any contact with the "whistleblower" – by the New York Times, no less. Once it was revealed that Schiff and his staff met with the leaker almost one month before the disclosure of the latest allegation by the Democrats against Trump, Schiff decided that we must "protect the identity of the whistleblower." Based on the whistleblower complaint, Schiff publicly asserted that President Trump threatened Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky eight times. The complaint revitalized Schiff's obsession with impeaching President Trump that had been deflated after the Mueller investigation found that the Trump campaign did not collude, conspire, coordinate, and cooperate with the Russians in the 2016 election. But, the new narrative of Schiff went up in smoke when the transcript of the phone call between the two presidents was released to the public. Uh oh. Schiff's public prevarication was now revealed to the world! Once Schiff's dissembling about the content of the whistleblower complaint was public knowledge, he reversed his position on putting the leaker on the witness stand. The extent of Schiff's lack of candor was exposed when we learned that he and his staff met with the "whistleblower." This was revealed after Schiff had avowed that he and his staff did not have contact with the "whistleblower." Could he or his staff have helped the leaker craft the complaint? We do not know because Schiff refuses to answer basic questions about his dealings with the "whistleblower." … 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-06-27T23:43:09Z
https://biggs.house.gov/media/in-the-news/op-ed-when-impeachment-proof-falls-short-democrats-shift-goal-posts OP-ED: When impeachment proof falls short, Democrats shift the goal posts 2019-11-13 2019 2019-11 Republican House AZ Andy Biggs B001302 biggs.house.gov     legacy Since the election of President Donald Trump, Democrats have made impeachment their No. 1 goal. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has finally agreed to let the American public see what has been going on in his closed-door, Soviet-style hearings. For two years, Democrats chased the Russian collusion hoax. Former special counsel Robert Mueller concluded that then-candidate Trump had not criminally colluded with the Russians in the 2016 election. Democrats then alleged obstruction of justice, but that, too, crumbled. Mueller's testimony before a congressional hearing fell flat, so Democrats, always searching for an excuse to attack the president (no matter how tangential), shifted their efforts to the Ukrainian phone call hoax. Details of the July 25 call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were leaked after a so-called whistleblower worked with Democratic staff on the House Intelligence Committee. Once again, the facts do not match the Democrats' narrative. The Ukrainian president and foreign minister insist that there was no pressure exerted on them regarding the release of U.S. foreign aid. President Trump released the transcript of the July 25 phone call showing no wrongdoing and no impeachable offense. Instead of laying out their case in public, Chairman Schiff and the Intelligence Committee majority proceeded to depose witnesses in private, away from the American people, the news media and most members of Congress. Adam Schiff once promised that the "whistleblower" would testify before Congress but now threatens anyone who "exposes" this individual's identity. He is hiding the whistleblower's obvious conflict of interest and bias. The "whistleblower" statutes are to protect someone from employer retaliation but do not grant immunity for illegal conduct. We must hear from the "whistleblower" because it appears he received and disclosed classified information in an illegal manner. Now, Democrats have moved from their earlier charge of "quid pro quo" to wild… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-06-27T23:43:09Z
