Their app called “CLICK” assists users in limiting their time on social media by redirecting the user to more productive tasks based on their interests and needs. “I’m excited to announce that Sai, Annabel, Owen, and Dorothy—students at Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville—are the winners of this year’s Congressional App Challenge! Their innovative thinking, creativity, and teamwork illustrate the bright future of technology in Northeast Florida. I’m proud of their hard work, and want them to keep coding and dreaming big,” said Congressman Bean. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The students were motivated by the increased usage of social media by young adults aged 13-17, which studies show leads to body image issues, cyberbullying, difficulty sleeping, and emotional withdrawal. The app was created in Android Studio, drafted in HTML and CSS on Replit, and the students conducted surveys of their peers to determine whether the app would be helpful or not. The CAC highlights the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education allowing students to hone their coding and technology skills. Middle and high school students from the Fourth District are eligible to compete in this annual competition. This year’s winners will have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building, featured online via the House of Representative’s website, and will be invited to a celebratory reception on Capitol Hill in honor of their achievement. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

The law closes a loophole that has allowed former members of Congress to continue to receive a taxpayer-funded pension during their appeals process after being convicted of certain felonies related to their time in office. Senator Rick Scott said, “I am incredibly proud to see our No CORRUPTION Act become law. If you are a Member of Congress and convicted of a crime involving public corruption you should lose all pension benefits provided to you by taxpayers and hardworking families—period. Making Washington work for American families requires real reforms that end the current dysfunction. We must never stop working to hold elected officials accountable and protect taxpayers’ hard-earned money.” Senator Jacky Rosen said, “Nevadans elected me to the Senate to stand up to corruption and protect their taxpayer dollars from abuse. That’s why I worked across the aisle with Senator Scott to close the loophole allowing politicians convicted of corruption to continue collecting taxpayer-funded pensions. I’m proud to see our bill become law, and I’ll keep working across the aisle to clean up Washington.” Demian Brady, Vice President of Research at the National Taxpayers Union Foundation said, “The reform in Senators Jacky Rosen’s and Rick Scott’s No CORRUPTION Act is a win for taxpayers. The commonsense bipartisan legislation closes a loophole in federal law that allows former members of Congress convicted of a crime to still collect a taxpayer-funded pension. We commend Senators Rosen and Scott for their leadership on this good government bill.” ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-03-30T11:08:25Z

"The Bipartisan FISHES Act" is broadly-supported, bipartisan legislation to improve the federal regulatory process associated with the allocation of fishery disaster relief. Specifically, this commonsense and solutions-oriented bill seeks to expedite the distribution of federal disaster relief following official fishery disaster declarations–which the State of Florida has requested seven times since 2012. H.R. 5103 is the twenty-sixth piece of legislation sponsored by Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) that passed the U.S. House of Representatives during the 118th Congress. The legislation has received the support of 160 endorsing entities including 107 organizations, and fifty-two members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is the sponsor of "The Bipartisan FISHES Act" Senate companion bill. “For years, fishery disaster determinations across our nation have been left pending due to bureaucratic inaction,” said Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL). “This includes the catastrophic devastation caused by Hurricane Ian in our Southwest Florida community. This is a national problem; this is wrong; this must change; and this is why I introduced ‘The FISHES Act’ alongside Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) to expedite fishery disaster relief to communities in need. Thank you to my colleagues in the United States Senate for advancing this critical legislation to the President’s desk. Government must put the American people first and I am proud to stand-up for coastal communities across our nation.” “Floridians know better than anyone that when disaster strikes, families and small businesses can’t be left wondering whether the federal government is going to show up," said Senator Rick Scott (R-FL). The Decentralizing and Re-organizing Agency Infrastructure Nationwide To Harness Efficient Services, Workforce Administration, and Management Practices (DRAIN THE SWAMP) Act would require nearly a third of workers to relocate outside the beltway. Upon introduction, Congressman Bean said, “The swamp is thick and deep here in Crazy Town, and I’m here to drain it. It is time to remind Washington that our duty is to serve the American people. I’m proud to join Senator Ernst to ensure the government works for the people, not the other way around.” Senator Ernst said, “My investigations have exposed how bureaucrats have been doing just about everything besides their job during the workday. Federal employees have shown they don’t want to work in Washington, and in the Christmas spirit, I am making their wish come true. Instead of keeping them bogged down in the swamp, I’m working to get bureaucrats beyond the D.C. beltway to remind public servants who they work for. In addition to improving government service for all Americans, we can give taxpayers an extra Christmas gift by selling off unused and expensive office buildings.” BACKGROUND The DRAIN THE SWAMP Act would authorize the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to relocate 30% of federal agency staff to places other than the metropolitan area surrounding Washington, D.C. The rest of the federal workers remaining around the capital would be required to work in person 100% of the time. Additionally, the OMB would further be directed to work to sell the unnecessary office space created by the relocations. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

The Caucus will work closely with the incoming Trump Administration to build a stronger and healthier nation in the years ahead. “The chronic disease epidemic accounts for the vast majority of healthcare costs, disabilities and deaths in the United States,” said Buchanan. “I look forward to partnering with Dr. Joyce, Rep. Smucker, Sen. Marshall and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to promote healthy lifestyles and further research into the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases. It’s time to Make America Healthy Again.” “As a doctor, I recognize that healthy foods and physical activity play an important role in every American life. Joyce. “I’ve spent my whole life in the Garden Spot of America. Pennsylvania’s 13th and 11th congressional districts are the largest agricultural communities in the Commonwealth. I commend Speaker Mike Johnson's leadership in navigating tough negotiations to keep our government open and ensure President-elect Trump can hit the ground running come January 20th. I also applaud my fellow Floridian, Congressman Scott Franklin, a member of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Appropriations, for achieving what others have long struggled to do: securing vital support for Florida farmers. While I would have preferred committees to pass their own bills through the Chamber rather than tack it on to a vital appropriations bill, when considering my district, the State of Florida, and our national security overall, the benefits far outweigh the critiques. This bill provides disaster relief funding for Florida and other disaster-stricken states. Additionally, it includes specific language encouraging a block grant program for citrus under the Trump administration that will revitalize the state's already struggling citrus industry. Continuing resolutions are far from ideal, but this measure ensures President Trump has a say in shaping the final funding bills for fiscal year 2025. As we prepare for President Trump's swearing-in, we are laying the groundwork to advance his America First agenda–lowering costs, unleashing American energy independence and dominance, and, most importantly, securing our borders to protect Americans." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

Rutherford (FL-05) announced the winner of Florida’s Fifth Congressional District’s 2024 Congressional App Challenge. Eesh Majithia, a current senior at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, earned first place for his app, “Notecandy,” which provides a variety of notetaking services to users with various learning styles. Notecandy was inspired by Neil Fleming’s visual, auditory, reading and writing, and kinesthetic (VARK) model of learning preferences, which was introduced to Eesh by his health and wellness teacher. Notecandy was designed to accommodate each of these styles of learning for students as they take notes in class. Eesh was selected as the winner by a panel of IT specialists from the Northeast Florida community. “On behalf of Florida’s Fifth Congressional District, I am proud to host the annual Congressional App Challenge and encourage our students to pursue a future in STEM,” said Rutherford. “With his app, Eesh shows an impressive ability to combine creativity with the mechanics needed to create applications aimed at supporting others. I wish him well as he continues to exercise his talent and strive for excellence." The app will be featured on the Congressional App Challenge website and is eligible to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, alongside other national winners. The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide competition designed to encourage student participation, providing an opportunity to develop valuable technical skills in computer science and coding regardless of prior experience. Dunn D000628 dunn.house.gov dunn https://dunn.house.gov/news/documentquery.aspx?DocumentTypeID=27 scraper Yesterday, Congressman Neal Dunn (Florida-02) introduced the International Protection from PRC Fentanyl and Other Synthetic Opioids Act to fight the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) role in America’s opioid epidemic. The bill would impose civil penalties on CCP-affiliated shippers – including any vessel owned, operated, or leased by a PRC entity - that are involved in trafficking materials used in the production of fentanyl to the United States. This legislation is part of a package of three bipartisan bills originating from the Select Committee on Communist China’s Fentanyl Working Group to stop the CCP from fueling America’s opioid epidemic. “For far too long, the CCP has been targeting American civilians by intentionally fueling our country’s opioid epidemic to undermine our nation’s health,” said Congressman Dunn. “We must take swift action to protect the American public and hold the CCP accountable for their brazen and unacceptable practices. I am proud to lead this bipartisan response to CCP aggression and stop the flow of dangerous narcotics into American communities.” Background: Earlier this year, the Select Committee on Communist China released an exhaustive report implicating entities connected to the Communist Party in a scheme to export fentanyl precursors to American shores. This legislation aims to combat fentanyl trafficking by imposing civil penalties on CCP- shippers connected to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) that fail to implement ‘know your customer’ protocols and other safeguards against the production and export of fentanyl precursors. Specifically, this legislation would: Require PRC shippers involved in the fentanyl trade to meet USG-defined standards for declaring fentanyl precursors. Establish a civil penalty for PRC cargo vessels deemed non-compliant when attempting to enter U.S. ports. Require the President to send a report to Congress outlining the compliance status, fines levied, and revenues collected. The hearing comes as the USCG continues to delay the production of the icebreaker fleet. The first Polar Security Cutter was slated to be operational in 2024, however the delays now have the cutter being operational, at the earliest, in 2030 and with costs being significantly more than originally anticipated. Designs for the cutter have yet to be finalized since the start of the PSC program in 2018. Watch a clip from the hearing HERE. See below for Congressman Gimenez's opening statement as prepared for delivery: Today, we are reviewing the progress—or lack thereof—of the Coast Guard’s Polar Security Cutter program and discussing strategies to ensure the successful completion of this vital acquisition effort. This issue is of paramount importance—the United States must be able to operate effectively in the Arctic to safeguard our nation's security and strategic interests in this rapidly changing region. While the Arctic has long been a region of immense importance, it has recently become a key arena for geopolitical competition. As the ice retreats, new opportunities and challenges emerge such as rising shipping traffic, untapped natural resources, and shifting national security dynamics. Nations around the globe are positioning themselves to capitalize on these immense opportunities. Of most concern are adversarial nations to the United States. For example, the People's Republic of China, which continues to pursue its self-declared "near-Arctic" ambitions, is rapidly expanding its icebreaker fleet to bolster its influence in the region. Recent reports indicate that China currently operates four icebreakers, with a fifth, named Jidi, which translates to “Polar” in English, under construction and expect… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

Importantly, the FY2025 NDAA includes a 14.5 percent pay raise for junior enlisted service members, a 4.5 percent raise for all other service members, and big wins for Florida’s military and America’s national security that Senator Scott fought to secure as a member of SASC this year. Senator Rick Scott said, “Each year, I have fought to include big wins for Florida and U.S. national security in the NDAA, and this year’s bill is a massive accomplishment that reflects the priorities of Florida families. As ranking member of the Subcommittee for Personnel, I am proud of the bipartisan work we accomplished in SASC to ensure our men and women in uniform are taken care of, and our military remains the most lethal force in the world. Our service members deserve to make a wage that reflects the sacrifice they make—and I am proud that we secured a much-needed 14.5 percent pay raise for junior enlisted service members and a 4.5 percent increase for other members in this year’s NDAA. Additionally, we know how important it is to our military families with children to have access to quality childcare—especially our dual-military families. Expanding childcare access for military families has been a priority for me in the NDAA for several years, and I am excited to share that this year’s NDAA includes $4.1 million for the design of a Child Development Center at Naval Air Station Whiting Field and $6.9 million for the design of a Child Development Center Naval Air Station Jacksonville to increase access to childcare for military families throughout North Florida. “Along with these personnel wins, we secured big wins for national security. It is shameful that public sector employees, like first responders, have been punished for their service for decades and denied the full benefits they deserve. While I’m glad to see this bill move forward today, the Social Security Trust Fund faces major issues and looming insolvency that must also be addressed. I look forward to working with President Trump to protect and preserve Social Security, and working with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy at the Department of Government Efficiency to identify $200 billion in government waste to pay for and responsibly implement this policy. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) continues to build support for the Dignity Act (H.R. 3599), the only major bipartisan immigration bill in Congress. With conversations about Congress tackling immigration next year, many recognize the Dignity Act as the most consequential piece of immigration legislation that not only secures our southern border but addresses our major immigration challenges beyond the border. In October 2024, the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus in the House of Representatives announced its official endorsement of the Dignity Act (H.R. 3599). The Problem Solvers Caucus is a group of more than 60 Members of Congress who are committed to advancing common-sense solutions to key issues facing the United States. Problem Solvers Caucus endorsements are often a critical threshold to pass before advancing major bipartisan legislation. The bill was brought forward for Caucus endorsement by Representatives Salazar and Hillary Scholten (D-MI), an original co-lead of the bill. It is the first time the caucus has endorsed a major immigration policy. “The United States desperately needs an immigration solution, and the Dignity Act is the best and most viable bill to secure our border and solve our nation’s immigration problems,” said Rep. María Elvira Salazar. “I am proud that the bipartisan Dignity Act received the endorsement of the Problem Solvers Caucus – a critical group of lawmakers in Congress who are willing to advance solutions that prioritize national security, practical reforms, and economic growth.” “For far too long, our immigration system has been a glaring failure, and Americans are suffering as a result,” said Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chair, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. “The Dignity Act stands as a historic, bipartisan solution that decisively ends illegal immigration, secures our borders, and drives economic prosperity in the United States.

This bill is also cosponsored by Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Mike Lee, James Lankford, Katie Britt, Steve Daines, Roger Marshall, Kevin Cramer, Cynthia Lummis and James Risch in the U.S. Senate and Congressman Jodey Arrington in the House of Representatives. The full text of the legislation can be found here. Senator Rick Scott said, “It’s time Washington focused on what the American people want: unleashing American energy, growing our economy and ending the woke agenda. As President Trump prepares to take office, we must do everything possible to undo Biden’s disastrous policies that have hurt American businesses and families. I’m proud to join my colleagues in leading this commonsense CRA to block the natural gas tax.” Senator John Hoeven said, “American households and businesses depend every day on access to affordable and reliable energy. The best way to bring down prices for U.S. consumers is to increase supply. That’s why we’re working to rescind policies like the Natural Gas Tax, among the many other costly and burdensome taxes and regulations imposed under the Biden administration. Doing so will help unleash our domestic energy production and make our nation energy dominant once again.” Congressman August Pfluger said, “President Biden’s promise to end fossil fuels hurt the hardworking energy producers of my district who have worked diligently to increase production while fueling our allies abroad. If implemented, the ill-conceived natural gas tax will handicap technological innovation, reduce supplies of affordable energy, and increase both costs and emissions. Pulluru, a junior who attends The Out-of-Door Academy, designed a software application to help older adults over the age of 65 determine if there are falling risks in their living environment. Buchanan commended Pulluru for his app and his commitment to serving older Americans. “I am very impressed and heartened to see this young student using his abilities to help our aging population,” said Buchanan. “Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults ages 65 and older, with over 14 million older adults reporting a fall every year. With nearly two hundred thousand seniors in my district and millions throughout the state of Florida, this app has the potential to help lower these risks and keep people safe.” “STEM education gives students the tools they need to succeed and help the U.S. compete in an increasingly global 21st century economy,” Buchanan continued. “Children are 25 percent of the population, but 100 percent of the future, and the future is in good hands with students like Manav.” The winning entry, SafeHavenAI, uses AI and image recognition from uploaded photos, along with a sophisticated algorithm and questions approved by doctors, to screen for potential fall risks within a home. Pulluru was inspired to create this app after having a great-grandfather fall and break his hip, causing him to be bedridden. He is hoping to ensure others do not suffer or lose their lives from preventable falls. “After seeing how a fall changed the life of my own great-grandfather, I knew something had to be done,” said Pulluru. “With one in four older adults falling each year, my partner and I created SafeHavenAI to prevent these accidents. I hope that this app will be able to eliminate preventable falls from seniors, helping families like mine save money and ensuring their loved ones are safer in their living environment.” Pulluru designed the app in tandem w… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

This comes shortly after the legislation passed overwhelminglyin the House of Representatives and Senate. “The Forgotten Heroes of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act has been signed by the President of the United States!” said Rep. In many cases, diplomats would issue passports and travel visas to Jewish families often at great risk to their own lives. These actions alone saved hundreds of thousands of Jewish lives. Since its introduction, the bill has gained the support of nearly 300 legislators in the House of Representatives and over 70 Senators. By electing Donald Trump and Republican majorities in both chambers of Congress, our voters rejected four years of failed policies that destroyed full-time jobs, optimism, and opportunity from coast to coast. The country wants the return of more good-paying jobs, and Republicans must reduce the size of government, cut taxes, eliminate burdensome regulations, and reduce permitting times to fuel private-sector job growth and get more people back in the workforce. ... “Unfortunately, instead of focusing on private-sector job creation, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Democrats in Congress have leaned too heavily on our country’s welfare system, breaking it beyond recognition. ... “Under the cover of the pandemic, the Biden-Harris administration massively ramped up federal welfare payments to the point that people can make more from government checks than a company paycheck. ... “The most recent data show that nearly 25 million able-bodied adults receive taxpayer health benefits without working, and more than 50 million people between the ages of 16 and 64 are not in the workforce. The No Congressionally Obligated Recurring Revenue Used As Pensions to Incarcerated Officials Now (No CORRUPTION) Act, which Senators Scott and Rosen introduced, and the Senate passed last year, will prevent Members of Congress from collecting taxpayer-funded pensions if they are convicted of a felony related to public corruption, even if they continue to drag out the appeals process. Current law requires former members of Congress convicted of a felony to forfeit their pensions only after exhausting their appeals, which allows convicted former members to drag the appeals process on for years while continuing to collect their taxpayer-funded pensions. The No CORRUPTION Act amends the law to close that loophole so former members of Congress lose their pensions immediately following a conviction of certain felonies related to their official duties. Senator Rick Scott said, “If you are a Member of Congress and convicted of a crime involving public corruption you should lose all pension benefits provided to you by taxpayers and hardworking families—period. Making Washington work for American families requires real reforms that end the current dysfunction. I’m proud to see our bipartisan, commonsense legislation pass the Senate and the House and head to the president’s desk to become law. We must never stop working to hold elected officials accountable and protect taxpayers’ hard-earned money.” Senator Jacky Rosen said, “For too long, corrupt Washington politicians have been exploiting a loophole in the system to continue to collect taxpayer-funded pensions even after they have been convicted of felonies. The DISPOSE Act creates fentanyl and precursor chemical destruction facilities in three critical drug trafficking choke points: Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. The bill keeps Americans safe by fighting illicit drugs where they are sourced, cutting off the supply of chemicals and drugs before they reach American shores. “The fentanyl crisis is destroying American communities, and Miami is no stranger to the dangers these drugs pose,” said Chairwoman Salazar. “Thank you to House Republican Leadership for prioritizing my DISPOSE Act in the National Defense Authorization Act. This bill will save American lives and rob cartels and criminals of a major source of income. “The deadly fentanyl trade is an international crisis that demands full attention from Congress,” said Congressman Joaquin Castro, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. “Last year, more than 500 people in the San Antonio area died from fentanyl that should never have reached Texas. This critical new law delivers long-overdue tax relief for Americans impacted by natural disasters. “This is a victory for every American who has faced the devastating toll of a natural disaster,” said Rep. Steube. “From Florida to California, disasters don’t discriminate by state or party. This bipartisan legislation is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together to prioritize the needs of the American people. After two years of fighting for this relief, this law will help families rebuild their lives and recover with fewer financial barriers.” The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act allows Americans to claim disaster-related losses without having to itemize deductions and eliminates the burdensome 10% Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) threshold for claiming those losses. It also ensures that settlements for disaster victims are tax-free and provides relief for recent hurricanes, including Ian, Nicole, Idalia, Helene, Debby, and Milton, as well as disasters declared up to 60 days after the law’s enactment. In addition, the law includes tax relief for wildfire victims in the West and for families impacted by the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment. “The devastation caused by disasters doesn’t stop at state borders or political lines—it affects every Floridian and every American. This bipartisan effort delivers relief to communities across the nation, whether they’re recovering from a hurricane, wildfire, or another tragedy,” Steube continued. “For Florida, where we’ve faced the brunt of multiple hurricanes in recent years, this law means real help for families and businesses working to rebuild. Upon passage, Congressman Bean said: “I was proud to support this year’s NDAA which refocuses the military on its core mission of defending our nation, supports operations along our southern border, and puts an end to divisive ideological policies that have undermined recruitment, retention, and the morale of our military. This legislation also provides a much-needed 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members and a 4.5% pay raise for all other service members. Additional quality-of-life provisions in the bill include allowing service members to seek some specialty health care without Tricare referrals, requiring pay for on-base childcare workers to be competitive with the private sector, and making it easier for military spouses to transfer professional licenses between states. The bill requires all DoD components to undertake an annual independent audit and saves taxpayers $31 billion by cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons systems, and unnecessary Pentagon bureaucracy. I will always defend our national interests because the American people deserve a military that doesn’t cater to any credo other than America First.” BACKGROUND: The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is legislation that Congress passes each year to make changes to the policies and organization of United States defense agencies and provide guidance on how military funding may be spent. This designation builds on prior federal studies and longstanding local efforts to preserve the river’s unique ecological, recreational, and cultural value. “Designating the Myakka River as a national scenic river is a step toward ensuring it remains a protected natural treasure,” said Congressman Steube. “This legislation recognizes the critical role of local communities and governments in preserving this important resource while safeguarding public access and voluntary environmental stewardship. WRDA 2024 authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to carry out critical water resources development projects and studies. Regular consideration of locally driven, rigorously studied, and nationally significant water resources infrastructure is key to preserving our nation’s economy, strengthening U.S. and international commerce, protecting our communities and businesses during natural disasters, and maintaining our quality of life. “From JAXPORT to Fernandina Beach, I was proud to play a key role in crafting WRDA and be a voice for Northeast Floridians. This bill is a massive victory for the Fourth District, as it enhances environmental restoration efforts at Fort George and supports a new dry dock in Jacksonville. I’m particularly grateful to secure modifications to shoreline easements that are delaying critically important hurricane risk reduction projects. These wins will ensure our state can continue to address the unique needs of our communities,” said Congressman Bean. WRDA 2024 Northeast Florida priorities championed by Congressman Bean include: Authorization of a new feasibility study for the Fort George Inlet erosion control project in Jacksonville to reduce or eliminate the accelerating loss of Little Talbot Island State Park lands, to stabilize the inlet to prevent further erosion, and to determine beneficial use of dredged beach compatible sand. The construction of a long-stalled new dry dock facility at the Jacksonville Harbor that would provide maintenance and other services to military, recreational, and other vessels. Prohibiting the USACE from imposing unfair, burdensome, and unforeseen perpetual easement requirements on sponsors of hurricane risk reduction projects. The requirements apply to adults receiving Medicaid benefits who are not in school and have no dependents. This bill would help lift millions off government dependence, save taxpayer dollars, and put America on the path of fiscal responsibility. “Work is an honorable enterprise, and it promotes a dignified pathway out of poverty. Yet today, there are more than 1.5 million able-bodied adults on Medicaid who are not working. We can’t keep asking hardworking Americans to pay for services for their neighbors who refuse to work,” said Congressman Bean. “Imposing work requirements on able-bodied adults without a dependent is not only common sense, but it would allow working Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money.” “These requirements are reasonable and flexible, allowing beneficiaries to meet eligibility in a variety of ways. By encouraging work, community service, or skill development, we can empower individuals to break free from the cycle of dependency and take control of their futures,” said Congresswoman Hageman. BACKGROUND As the number of people on Medicaid has increased to more than 93 million, the labor force participation rate has decreased to 62.5%. Specifically, this legislation would require able-bodied adults without dependents, to work, volunteer, enroll in a school or a job training program for 80 hours a month to be eligible for Medicaid benefits. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated similar able-bodied work requirements for Medicaid benefits would save taxpayers $109 billion over the next decade. November’s CPI data shows that there has been a significant rise in inflation during the Biden-Harris administration, with CPI increasing 2.7% percent over the year in November 2024—higher than last month. In September, Congresswoman Laurel Lee (FL-15), Chairman Mark E. Prominent threats include ‘Volt Typhoon’ and the recently discovered PRC-affiliated cyber actors that targeted U.S. telecommunications providers. "Earlier this year, the FBI confirmed Chinese hackers infiltrated American infrastructure and accessed information from systems used by the federal government. We cannot allow our foreign adversaries to continue to attack the critical infrastructure Americans rely on every day which is vital to the nation’s economy,” said Rep. Laurel Lee. “I am pleased to see my bill, the Strengthening Cyber Resilience Against State-Sponsored Threats Act, pass the House which will establish a task force and implement a focused, coordinated, and whole-of-government response to stop China's targeting of our critical infrastructure." “As the Chinese Communist Party grows increasingly brazen in cyberspace, my colleagues and I took a decisive step today toward ensuring a whole-of-government response to these threat actors and bolstering our nation’s collective defense,” Chairman Green said. “From Volt Typhoon undermining our critical infrastructure to PRC cyber actors embedding in our telecommunications networks, Beijing’s espionage and pre-positioning efforts threaten the very technology that u… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

In his letter to the USDA, Senator Scott expresses concerns over the importation of garlic from Communist China, as well as the lack of proper oversight from the agency inspectors of all consumables coming from Communist China which leaves American families vulnerable to low-quality food products. In his letter to USTR, Senator Scott is requesting the initiation of a Section 301 investigation into garlic grown in Communist China to determine if the country’s trade practices are unfair or harmful to U.S. commerce. The letter highlights China’s unethical labor and trade practices through their use of forced labor and evading tariffs. Congress must fund the modernization of NOAA’s aging planes to help protect our communities.” “With increasingly severe hurricane seasons, communities across the nation are relying more than ever on NOAA’s life-saving storm tracking and forecasting capabilities,” said Wasserman Schultz. “By investing in new hurricane hunter aircraft now, we ensure that NOAA can continue to protect lives, property, and entire communities from the growing threats of extreme weather.” The funding, as outlined in the Administration’s supplemental request, would enable NOAA’s Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) to complete construction of two new hurricane hunter planes already in progress and acquire a third. María Elvira Salazar’s (R-FL) Crucial Communism Teaching (CCT) Act in an enormous 327-62 vote. Senators John Kennedy (R-LA) and Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced the companion version in the Senate. At a time when nearly a third of Generation Z has a positive opinion of communism, ensuring access to quality educational materials on the horrors of this bloody ideology must remain a top priority. “By passing my Crucial Communism Teaching Act, the House of Representatives will ensure future generations will remember the pain and suffering caused by the brutal communist ideology,” said Rep. María Elvira Salazar. “My community in Miami understands the evils of communism very well, and we must ensure all Americans are aware of the death and misery it has caused. Their stories and memories will now live on in the minds of our youth.” The CCT Act makes educational materials available through the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to help educate middle and high school students about the dangers of communism and totalitarianism, and how they are contrary to the founding principles of freedom and democracy in the United States. Over 100 million people have died due to the tragic legacy of communism. However, due to a lack of accurate education materials, almost one-third of Generation-Z members have a favorable view of communism. The CCT Act framework is inspired by the Never Again Education Act, passed by Congress in 2020, which created a program to educate American students about the Holocaust through the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. The bill also continues similar efforts by Florida and other states to educate American students on the failed experiment of communism throughout history. The Crucial Communism Teaching Act will be Congresswoman Salazar’s sixth bill to be passed by the House of Representatives this Congress, in addition to several other bills that have been signed into law. The November report shows that year over year, part-time work has increased by nearly 577,000 jobs. The report also highlighted that this year more than 250,000 more people have had to take on multiple jobs. That is a scary reality for many Americans and points to an unstable job market where folks are having to take on more work to make ends meet. Senator Scott also released a weekly update on his actions to address America’s debt crisis, rising inflation and failing economy caused by the Biden-Harris administration’s reckless and radical agenda. Senator Rick Scott said, “Today’s report shines a light on the disturbing reality and impacts of the disastrous Biden-Harris administration’s economic agenda and misplaced priorities. The reactions from the mainstream media and Washington elites touting today’s report are exactly why the American people demanded change last month. Over the year, full-time jobs are down by 1.27 million, unemployment is up, and people are being forced to take on multiple jobs to make ends meet. The Biden-Harris agenda is a total disaster for hardworking Americans, and I’m fighting like hell to stop it and make Washington work for Florida families. Families are struggling under the Biden-Harris economy, but thank God we have someone like President Trump who can fix it.” Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation. Bilirakis B001257 bilirakis.house.gov bilirakis https://bilirakis.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Washington, DC: Congressman Bilirakis is leading the charge to advance his priority Veteran legislation before the end of this term. The Major Richard Star Act, which is jointly authored by Representatives Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) and Raul Ruiz (D-CA), has garnered widespread bipartisan support, as evidenced by its 326 cosponsors in the House and 73 in the Senate. This critical legislation would rectify the issue of concurrent receipt for over 50,000 medically retired combat Veterans. The letter to House leadership, spearheaded by Bilirakis, was signed by a bipartisan group of 65 lawmakers. The lawmakers wrote…“We write to express our strong support of H.R.1282, the Major Richard Star Act, and ask for its swift consideration on the floor of the House of Representatives. This bill would repeal the unfair offset of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) retirement benefits and VA disability compensation and provide full concurrent receipt for these veterans who retired with less than 20 years of service…Congress has enacted legislation to progressively provide relief for this unfair offset between military retired pay and disability compensation, including in 2004, when Congress implemented concurrent receipt for veterans who served over 20 years and had at least a 50 percent disability rating. However, many veterans remain penalized under the status quo…The Major Richard Star Act has the momentum and support necessary to carry it quickly through both chambers in Congress and to the President to be signed into law. Given its substantial support in Congress and true bipartisan nature, we respectfully urge you to consider this bill under suspension of the rules at your earliest opportunity.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

"Back-to-back hurricanes have dealt a devastating blow to Florida's agricultural producers, many of whom are still recovering from the disastrous 2022 season," said Congressman Franklin. "After four major storms in two years, our farmers and ranchers desperately need help now. One-size-fits-all federal disaster programs consistently fail our state's agricultural sector, creating onerous application processes and delaying critical aid. After Hurricane Irma in 2017, when USDA administered appropriated funds to Florida through a block grant, the state quickly got help into the hands of our producers. Putting Florida in the driver’s seat made all the difference. Forgoing a federal program in favor of a state solution is a critical, but simple fix." "The devastation from Hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton has hit Florida’s farmers hard, and the impacts are rippling through our state. These back-to-back storms wiped out crops, destroyed infrastructure, and put countless livelihoods in jeopardy. The U.S. Department of Agriculture must act swiftly to deliver the critical aid our agricultural producers need to rebuild and recover. Florida can’t do this alone, and our farmers deserve nothing less than our full support,” said Senator Rubio (R-FL). “I’m grateful to Congressman Franklin, Senators Rubio and Scott, and the Florida delegation for working together to provide support for our agricultural communities after the two devastating hurricanes this fall,” said Congresswoman Cammack. “When Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Big Bend region, my colleagues to the south were quick to jump in and support our efforts as the recovery process began, and I’ll be here to do the same with Hurricane Milton in South and Central Fl… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

The legislation provides long-awaited tax relief for Americans harmed by recent hurricanes, wildfires, floods, tornadoes, and the train derailment in Ohio. The legislation now awaits President Joe Biden’s signature to become law. “More than two years ago, Hurricane Ian decimated my district. Due to inaction by Congress, millions of Americans have missed out on the disaster tax deductions that are typically available after presidentially-declared disasters. Since then, I’ve fought to deliver tax relief for not only my constituents – but for the many Americans impacted by natural disasters across the country. Floridians have compounded damage and rebuilding expenses from five hurricanes since Ian, including three back-to-back hurricanes this season. I promised to fight for full hurricane recovery for my district as long as it takes. Today, Congress delivered on my promise,” said Rep. Steube. “I applaud the Senate for putting this relief within arms reach for Floridians – we’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars in Floridians’ pockets thanks to my legislation. I expect President Biden will recognize the great impact my legislation will have on America’s families and sign my legislation into law.” Rep. Steube’s legislation designates that Hurricane Ian and other hurricanes including Hurricanes Idalia, Nicole, Fiona, Debby, Helene, and Milton should be treated as qualified disaster events for purposes of determining the tax treatment of certain disaster-related personal casualty losses. Senators Marco Rubio, Katie Britt, Tommy Tuberville, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock co-sponsored the resolution. In 2020, Senator Rick Scott fought to include the Secure U.S. Bases Act in the National Defense Authorization Act to reform and improve foreign military student training programs following the terrorist attack at Naval Air Station Pensacola. This important law requires a thorough vetting process before a foreign student enters the U.S., requires foreign students to follow rules established by U.S. Base Commanders and vastly improves the security of our military installations, service members, their families and the surrounding communities. Senator Rick Scott said, “Today, on the fifth anniversary of the tragic shooting at NAS Pensacola that senselessly took the lives of three brave Americans—Joshua Kaleb Watson, Mohammed Haitham and Cameron Walters—we honor their service and life dedicated to serving and protecting our country. "Jim Rohn one of the pioneers of personal development, once said: 'Time is our most valuable asset, yet we tend to waste it, kill it, and spend it rather than invest it,' and in no place is this truer than in our nation’s classrooms. Our teachers have limited time to teach, and our kids have limited time to learn. "New research published earlier this year by NWEA Research shows that four years after the pandemic, eighth graders are a full year behind in math and reading. In fact, the average U.S. student would need more than four months of school to catch up to pre-pandemic achievement levels. Out of 38 major countries, the U.S. ranks 26th in math, 6th in reading, and 10th in science globally. We certainly don’t have time to waste. "So, while students have returned to in-person instruction, it’s clear that our kids are in trouble. Why? Rather than a curriculum that focuses on helping students bounce back from Covid setbacks, our children are taught woke and divisive Marxist inspired ideology. "Today, we’re here to discuss the dangers inherent in the curriculum being taught in many American elementary and secondary schools. Chief among these dangers is that schools are substituting the traditional narrative of this great but flawed nation with a political story built on racial resentment and collective guilt. "That force is called Critical Race Theory, or CRT—a neo-Marxist ideology that’s crept into classrooms across America—and it is reshaping how young people interpret their identity and changing how they see themselves, each other, and our country. "You may hear the other side of the aisle say today, 'CRT? That can’t possibly exist in American K-12 classrooms.' Well, I want to ass… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z
