https://keller.house.gov/media/in-the-news/bill-rename-laceyville-post-office-moves-us-house Bill to Rename Laceyville Post Office Moves to U.S. House 2019-12-30 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Fred Keller K000395 keller.house.gov     legacy A bill to rename the Laceyville Post Office in honor of Melinda Mindy Gene Piccotti has moved out of committee and is now going to the full U.S. House of Representatives for a vote. U.S. Rep. Fred Keller made the announcement of the bill's advancement in a statement on Thursday, Dec. 19. The bill was advanced out of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, said Keller. He noted that the bill, H.R. 4279, has received bipartisan support from PA's congressional delegation. Keller is spearheading the drive to rename the Laceyville Post Office in honor of Piccotti, who was an Air Force veteran and the founder of the Hunts for Healing organization. Hunts for Healing helps soldiers wounded in combat and other combat veterans transition back into civilian life by allowing them to experience the joys of hunting. Mindy's dedication to helping her fellow veterans return to civilian life is a lasting legacy that shows her selflessness and her sense of our society's continuing need to serve those who safeguard our freedom, said Keller. Naming the Laceyville Post Office in her honor is a fitting and appropriate display for the indelible mark she continues to leave on countless heroes. I am proud to see this legislation move forward and hope it will soon pass the full House. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
https://keller.house.gov/media/in-the-news/north-central-pennsylvania-pro-business North central Pennsylvania is pro-business 2019-12-29 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Fred Keller K000395 keller.house.gov     legacy When Priority Bicycles, a company based on low maintenance bicycles, started five years ago, we needed a warehouse and logistics center that was convenient for shipping, had a large talent pool to grow with us, and was accessible from our New York design office. We quickly landed in Montgomery as one of our founders has a long history in the area. Over the past few years, our business has grown from a Kickstarter idea to a growing small business selling thousands of bicycles per year to locations all over the world. However, last year when the section 301 tariffs increased on imported bicycles and components, our growing business was put in jeopardy. So what did we do? First, we started to build out our own assembly and paint operation at our Montgomery facility for custom runs for major apparel and hotel brands. Next, understanding that to continue growing our business we had to keep our high-volume bicycle orders in our Montgomery facility, we reached out to U.S. Congressman Fred Keller's office for help. Fred and his staff promptly visited our Montgomery operation and met with our team to discuss the challenges of our young and growing business. Shortly thereafter, he, along with U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, each wrote letters in support of Priority Bicycles' exclusion requests to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative to urge them to provide Priority Bicycles with a tariff exemption. They noted that manually-powered bicycles are not the products that the 301 tariffs were designed to target, as these items are not strategic to China's growth, and that crippling our business would cost U.S. jobs instead of protecting them. With their help, Priority Bicycles has now received the first of two requested tariff exemptions. Because of this, we are now able to make additional hires and begin to get our company back on a path to growth. When others in the industry ask why we are growing, we are clearly able to credit the pro-business benefits of northcentral Pennsylvania, the strong support shown by Congressman Fred … 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

https://keller.house.gov/media/in-the-news/keller-votes-against-impeachment Keller votes against impeachment 2019-12-24 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Fred Keller K000395 keller.house.gov     legacy Congressman Fred Keller (R-Pa.) made the following statement after voting against both articles of impeachment. I was proud to stand up for the Constitution and the rule of law by voting to oppose both articles of impeachment. Today's vote to impeach the president is the culmination of years of unwarranted investigations, baseless accusations, and a blind partisan disdain for President Trump that has caused House Democrats to abandon all respect for the Constitution and due process. Democrats have not proven one single fact or come up with one single piece of evidence proving President Trump committed an impeachable offense. Rather, by spending years engaged in this impeachment farce, Democrats have played directly into the hands of those who wish to sow political discord in this country. From where we stand today, it is difficult to tell who will treat House Democrats more harshly: voters or history. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

The 15 counties of Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District, which I represent, overwhelmingly supportedDonald Trumpin 2016. Today, our region remains Trump Country. When PresidentTrumpcame to Montoursville to endorse my campaign for Congress on the eve of my special election, 10,000 people were admitted to the rally while another 5,000 cheering fans waited outside in blistering heat just to be close to the president and see his remarks on big screen televisions. The support for the president in central and northeastern Pennsylvania is electric. They know he is fighting for them and against the entrenched special interests and political elite. I feel it when I am travelling our district. When talking with constituents, it is clear they respect the president's ability to stand up for them against the Washington establishment. The president's policies have benefitted hardworking Pennsylvanians by creating an environment for more jobs, a stronger energy economy and better trade deals for the family farms that make up the landscape of my rural district. The political identity of many in our district is inextricably linked with the president's. But we are not alone. In 2016, 63 million Americans voted for Mr.Trumpas he won state by state, including Pennsylvania, on his way to an Electoral College victory. Then, last week, the majority of Democrats in the House of Representatives told the vast majority of Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District and the rest of those 63 million American voters that their vote does not matter that their voice should not be respected. Here are some key excerpts from the Op-Ed: By voting to impeach President Donald Trump last week, House Democrats led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi abandoned the Constitution, thumbed their noses at due process, and attempted to cancel the votes of the 63 million Americans who elected him President. *** When talking with constituents, it is clear they respect the President's ability to stand up for them against the Washington establishment. The President's policies have benefitted hardworking Pennsylvanians by creating an environment for more jobs, a stronger energy economy, and better trade deals for the family farms that make up the landscape of my rural district. Then, last week, the majority of Democrats in the House of Representatives told the vast majority of Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District and the rest of those 63 million American voters that their vote does not matter that their voice should not be respected. *** Criminal justice reform; tax cuts for working families; economic policies that have led to the lowest unemployment rates across all categories of Americans in 50 years; and free and fair trade deals with Canada, Mexico, Japan, and China that put American interests first. These are only a few of the President's accomplishments. Frankly, the political elitethose like Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Adam Schiff, and Chairman Jerry Nadleris upset that President Trump has made and kept his promises where they have failed. They want to see President Trump go away so they can return to business as usual. … 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
https://fitzpatrick.house.gov/media-center/in-the-news/op-ed-protecting-national-parks-pa-and-nj-should-be-priority-lawmakers Op-Ed: Protecting national parks in Pa. and NJ should be priority for lawmakers 2019-12-22 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Brian Fitzpatrick F000466 fitzpatrick.house.gov     legacy For over 50 years, LWCF has made the difference in protecting threatened properties in our national parks, forests, and wildlife areas even as it has fueled critical conservation and recreational opportunities at the state and local level. After years of short-term reauthorizations, and a brief expiration, we and our colleaguesvoted overwhelmingly to permanently authorize LWCF earlier this year, ensuring that it will be around for future generations. While that was a big step forward, annual funding still is not assured and that is something we are working together to change. LWCF has been around for more than half a century, but in that time more than half its intended funding has been redirected. As a result, over $22 billion that should have been investedin outdoor recreation and conservation have gone somewhere else.Diverting these LWCF funds for non-conservation purposes short-changes our communities and the public lands we all love. It also deals a huge blow to our economy. Investments in America's natural infrastructure particularly increasing access to public lands for outdoor recreation are a key driver of the economy. Outdoor recreation is among our nation's largest economic sectors, thriving even when the broader economy has suffered. According to theOutdoor Industry Association, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, paddling and other outdoor recreation activities contribute $887 billion annually to the U.S. economy, providing jobs for 7.6 million hard-working Americans. These are honest, well-paying jobs that cannot be outsourced or exported. Beyond those statistics, the array of places that depend on LWCF is truly staggering. In New Jersey alone, LWCF has investedmore than $350 million in historic sitesand natural areas including the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, which provides access for hunters, anglers, and other sportsmen and -women. Similarly, LWCF hasinvested over $309 million in Pennsylvania, protecting hallowed sites including Valley Forge, Gettysburg, the Flight 93 Nation… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Pennsylvania's public water systems have also beenunder threatof contamination from PFAS forever chemicals linked to cancer and other serious health problems. Thanksgiving will bring families from all over the region to our stretch of Pennsylvania. We owe our residents and visitors the peace of mind that the water they drink and cook with is not contaminated from mismanaged government spending. Improvements to our infrastructure will keep our communities cleaner and let them spend more time together and less time in congestion. We've come together to address the threat in our communities through federal funding, oversight, and regulation. But no American should have to question the safety of their drinking water, and the more we look for PFAS and other contaminants across the country, the more we find. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Fitzpatrick will be in various undisclosed locations in the CENTCOM AOR in the Middle East, serving Christmas dinner to troops, receiving classified briefings from military generals regarding ongoing military operations, and spending time with native Pennsylvanians serving in all branches of the U.S. military who are deployed across the Middle East. Congressman Fitzpatrick has made a commitment to spend the holidays with our troops deployed overseas, who are away from their families and loved ones. From 2007 to 2008, while serving as an FBI Special Agent, Fitzpatrick was embedded with U.S. Special Forces in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
https://fitzpatrick.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/fitzpatrick-and-brindisi-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-classify-drug Fitzpatrick and Brindisi Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Classify Drug Dealers as Terrorists 2019-12-20 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Brian Fitzpatrick F000466 fitzpatrick.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON, DCThursday, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and Rep. Anthony Brindisi (NY-22)introduced the bipartisan Identifying Drug Cartels as Terrorists Act. This bipartisan legislation would list seven Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs), as defined by section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The Gulf Cartel, the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, the Beltran Leyva Cartel, the Juarez Cartel, the Los Zetas Cartel, the Sinaloa Cartel, and the Tijuana Cartel have been described by the Drug Enforcement Administration as the most prominent in Mexico. This designation will allow the United States to direct the resources necessary to dismantle them, ending their reigns of terror, and helpto end the flow of drugs coming across our southern border, which fuels the addiction epidemic in our communities. Mexican drug cartels control the territory along our Southwest Border, spreading drugs and crime, across Mexico and into the United States. These criminal organizations are a menace to society, and we need to do everything in our power to continue to fight them. That is why I am introducing this legislation, to officially designate these criminals as foreign terrorist organizations, said Rep. Fitzpatrick. These criminals bring illegal narcotics, commit atrocious acts of violence, and smuggle humans across our border. They harm lives every day, and it is time we call them what they are: terrorists. I thank my friend Congressman Brindisi for joining me in introducing this hard-hitting and bipartisan legislation, and I will continue to work to see this bill become law. Illegal drugs are terrorizing our communities and it is time we called these drug cartels what they are: terrorists, Rep. Brindisi said. So many families have been torn apart by drugs and these cartels are committing heinous criminal acts. Identifying these traffickers as terrorists will give our law enforcement more tools to crack down on bad actors at our southern border and around the world. https://keller.house.gov/media/in-the-news/pennsylvania-congressional-delegation-offers-bipartisan-praise-passage-usmca Pennsylvania congressional delegation offers bipartisan praise for passage of USMCA 2019-12-20 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Fred Keller K000395 keller.house.gov     legacy Less than 24 hours after the historic impeachment vote sharply split Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation, the very same lawmakers were virtually united in praise for the passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The new treaty, if it passes in the Republican-controlled Senate, will take the place of the 1990s-era North American Free Trade Agreement and will govern trade relations between the three countries going forward. The Senate had passed the USMCA last year, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held off bringing it up for a vote in her chamber until Thursday. The final vote saw widespread support from both Republicans and Democrats, unlike the impeachment vote Wednesday that saw Pennsylvania's nine Republicans and nine Democratic representatives split down the middle. Lawmakersandindustry groupsin Pennsylvania and all over the country had called on Pelosi to bring the USMCA up for a vote for months, and after the treaty was passed, praise for the new deal was widespread. After months of unnecessary delays by Speaker Pelosi, I was proud to vote for #USMCA to bring our trade policy into the 21st century, U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, a Republican, said on Twitter late Thursday afternoon. Thanks @realDonaldTrump for negotiating a deal that will create 176,000 American jobs and generate more than $68 billion in new economic activity. Rep. Mike Doyle, a Democrat, was less enthusiastic than his Republican colleagues but still made clear that he supports the USMCA. I voted in favor of the USMCA because I believe it is an improvement over NAFTA, he said on Twitter. I was pleased that, as a result of the efforts of Democrats and Labor, the USMCA has been significantly improved from President Trump's original agreement. The USMCA is still far from perfect, however. So while this agreement was an important first step, there remains much more to be done to fix our nation's trade laws. I look forward to continue fighting for trade policies that benefit American workers. Fellow Democrat Matt Cartwright, on the other han… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

The Congressman who represents Warren County, Republican Glenn Thompson, was afforded the opportunity to speak for 30 seconds amid the hours of debate that resulted in the House of Representatives approving two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, just the third time in the nation's history that the House has taken such action. Thompson spoke briefly just over nine hours after the House gaveled in for the day. Thank you ranking member. Thank you madam speaker,he began, according to video of the day's events from C-SPAN.And while this institution should rightfully ensure that the law is faithfully executed by the administrative branch, this exercise has shown itself to be the ultimate manipulation of (the) legislative branch's oversight powers in order to achieve political gain. I caution my colleagues who have placed political expediency ahead of moderation. Your votes later today will forever change this institution. Imagine a future where this body utilizes the most severe of its constitutional tools to continually put the oppositional party on trial. And with that, I yield back. He then released a statement on Twitter following the approval of the two articles for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. This vote was a political stunt aimed at reversing the votes of 63 million Americans who put the president in office. I voted with a resounding no. I applaud the three Democrats who joined a united Republican conference in opposition. I continue to warn others that scoring cheap political points is not worth leaving a lasting stain on this institution. They need to understand the American public is tired of the games and want real results out of Washington. The bill would allow Irish nationals annual access to any unused E-3 visas from the previous fiscal year. In exchange, Ireland intends to provide Americans expanded access to work visas in Ireland. A similar bipartisan bill sponsored by U.S. Representatives Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI-05) and Richard Neal (D-MA-01) passed the House of Representatives last Congress by voice vote. "America has long benefited from the contributions of people who have come to this country willing to work hard," said Senator Toomey. "This bipartisan bill continues that tradition by allowing highly skilled Irish workers to apply for the E-3 nonimmigrant visa program. I appreciate Senator Durbin working with me on this worthwhile measure." "From our earliest days as a nation, America and Ireland have been united by unbreakable bonds of friendship and family, and by a shared commitment to liberty and freedom," said Senator Durbin."Our proposal is a commonsense measure that would further strengthen America's special relationship with Ireland. I'm committed to working to quickly pass this bipartisan legislation, as well as other critically-needed fixes to our broken immigration system." The E-3 treaty professional visa is a temporary work visa currently limited to citizens of Australia. Up to 10,500 E-3 visas may be granted each year and the visas are valid for up to two years on a renewable basis. Qualifying jobs in the U.S. for which an E-3 visa may be obtained require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a specialty occupation. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

I applaud my colleagues on the Foreign Affairs committee for marking up the Global Child Thrive Act today and passing it unanimously, said Congressman Fitzpatrick. I encourage House leadership to bring this legislation to the floor and pass it with the same urgency that we did in Committee. The approval of this important legislation in the House Foreign Affairs Committee marks an important step forward. Our most cherished treasure, young children across the world deserve the opportunity for dignity and success. Despite progress we have made in reducing child mortality and improving quality of life for children across the world, serious challenges remain in ensuring children in developing countries are able to reach their potential. This legislation guarantees that when the U.S. invests abroad, kids and their families will not be forgotten, said Congressman Castro. Our bill directs relevant federal departments and agencies to incorporate early childhood development into their work and builds on existing interagency collaboration. There is no more cost-effective, worthwhile cause than early childhood development, and I applaud my HFAC colleagues for rei… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

The vote was 229 to 198. U.S. Rep.Glenn Thompson, R-Howard Township, and U.S. Rep.Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, voted against both articles of impeachment. Both said the impeachment process was not supported by facts, evidence or reason. The vote was a political stunt aimed at reversing the votes of 63 million Americans who put the president in office, Thompson said in a statement. Thompson said he voted with a resounding no. I applaud the three Democrats who joined a Republican conference in opposition, Thompson said. With the 18-member delegation split evenly between the two political parties, the state's nine Democrats voted in favor of the articles of impeachment and the nine Republicans voted against. In both comments from the floor of the House and on social media, a number of lawmakers made their arguments justifying their decisions. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, D-Pa., speaks Dec. 18, 2019, as the House of Representatives debates the articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump at the Capitol in Washington. It's with profound sadness that I stand here today in support of these articles of impeachment, Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon, a Democrat, said during the debate. President Trump's behavior is exactly what our founders feared most. They knew that with the awesome power of the presidency came the risk of a president abusing that power for personal gain. They were particularly concerned about an executive who became entangled with foreign governments, corrupted our elections, or sought to avoid consequences for his own misconduct in office. While Scanlon argued that the president's phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was evidence of a high crime as defined in the U.S. Constitution, Rep. Dan Meuser, a Republican, saw exactly the opposite. Abuse of power? Not according to the Ukraine, Meuser said during his floor remarks. President Zelensky confirmed many times that there was no quid pro quo, no action taken, and significant military aid was delivered without anything in return. Of course, his words have been conveniently dismissed. To Meuser, the impeachment effort marked a concerted effort by the Democratic Party to overturn the will of the voters at a time when Trump's policies are bearing fruit. Congressman Fred Keller announced on Thursday that his bill, H.R. 4279 to name the Post Office in Laceyville, Wyoming County, after Melinda Mindy Gene Piccotti, an Air Force veteran and community leader who founded Hunts for Healing, advanced from the House Oversight and Reform Committee. Started in 2009, Hunts for Healing aims to help wounded soldiers returning from military missions in Iraq and Afghanistan and other combat veterans transition back into civilian life by allowing them to experience the joys of hunting, including social interaction and comradery. On the advancement of the legislation, Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) said the following: As a testament to her life and service, the bill to name the Laceyville Post Office for Mindy Gene Piccotti has received bipartisan support from the Pennsylvania Congressional delegation and the House Oversight and Reform Committee. Mindy's dedication to helping her fellow veterans return to civilian life is a lasting legacy that shows her selflessness and her sense of our society's continuing need to serve those who safeguard our freedom. Naming the Laceyville Post Office in her honor is a fitting and appropriate display of the indelible mark she continues to leave on countless heroes. I am proud to see this legislation move forward and hope it will soon pass the full House. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Democrats have not proven one single fact or come up with one single piece of evidence proving President Trump committed an impeachable offense. Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) voted in support of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) Thursday as the President's America-first trade deal made its way through the US House of Representatives. With its elimination of Canada's Class 7 milk pricing program and provisions for increasing U.S. corn and soybean exports, the USMCA will make a huge difference to the thousands of family farms throughout central and northeastern Pennsylvania. Statewide, the USMCA is set to bolster 17,000 agricultural and 42,000 manufacturing jobs. Nationally, it is expected to result in $68 billion in economic activity. On the passage of the USMCA, Congressman Fred Keller made the following statement: The USMCA is a huge win for farmers and workers in central and northeast Pennsylvania, who have been left behind by unfair trade deals for too long. It is a shame it took nearly a year for Speaker Pelosi to bring this important trade deal to a vote while House Democrats obsessed over impeaching President Trump. Our economy is booming, and the USMCA will only add fuel to the fire of growth and prosperity we are experiencing under the Trump Administration. I thank President Donald Trump and his administration for making this America-first trade deal possible. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

"The agreement will continue to drive growth by adding $68 billion to the U.S. economy and creating 176,000 jobs across the country. Trade with Canada and Mexico supports more than 470,000 jobs in Pennsylvania alone, and more than 42,000 jobs in Pennsylvania depend on manufacturing exports to these countries. Canada and Mexico are also some of the most important markets for Pennsylvania's agricultural exports. This deal will create a more balanced trade relationship with our North American partners and improve market access for our producers and processors – especially for our dairy and poultry farmers. Dakota Meyer and his team came under such heavy enemy fire near the Afghan village of Ganjigal that it sounded to him like they were surrounded by static electricity. Despite imminently life-threatening dangers, he intentionally made five forays headlong into a hail of gunfire, killing several enemy insurgents while evacuating two dozen Afghan soldiers and recovering the bodies of four Americans, including three of his team members. A hero by any stretch of the definition, Sgt. Meyer became the first living Marine in more than four decades to receive a Medal of Honor – America's highest and most prestigious personal military decoration awarded for extraordinary acts of valor. But his heroism came at a great personal cost – the war came home with him. Anxious, quick to anger and unable to get the war out of his head, Sgt. Meyer was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He is far from alone. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates between 11 and 20 percent of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom Veterans have PTSD in a given year; 12 percent of Gulf War Veterans; and, 15 percent of Vietnam Veterans suffer with PTSD annually. Sadly, only 40 percent of our heroes will find relief with current treatments. Left untreated, PTSD can be debilitating, leading to a decline in quality of life and causing significant medical, mental health, interpersonal, and social impairment. More threatening though, PTSD has a strong link to suicide risk, with the lack of effective treatment now seen as a major contributing factor in the grisly number of Veteran suicides that have soared to roughly 20 per day. Unacceptable. Because we have a moral duty to do everything we can to ease the suffering of Veterans and their families who have risked everything to protect our Freedoms and American way of life, I have created landmark legislation that would provide our hometown heroes with unrestricted access to a promising treatment. Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) spoke on the House floor in opposition to H.Res. 755, the Democrats' sham articles of impeachment, and joined all House Republicans and three House Democrats in voting against the measure. "House Democrats can't beat President Trump on the merits, so they caved to their far-left base and used the thoughts and feelings of a few unelected bureaucrats, rather than relying on facts of law, to impeach a duly elected president," said Reschenthaler. "As a lawyer, I would defend this case in court every single day. As a former judge, I would dismiss this case for lack of merit because the facts just aren't there. This is nothing more than a political hit job." As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, Reschenthaler has been on the front lines fighting the Democrats' rushed attempt to undo the results of the 2016 election. Earlier this month, Reschenthaler offered a motion to subpoena the whistleblower for a deposition in an executive session, which would allow him or her to maintain their anonymity. Chairman Nadler and House Democrats voted against the motion, preventing Members of Congress from learning the truth about the origins of the Ukrainian allegations. Similarly, during a committee hearing last week, Reschenthaler made a point of order to ask Chairman Nadler about withholding evidence from Republican lawmakers. "Before President Trump was even sworn into office, House Democrats were obsessed with overturning the will of the American people, and they have prioritized their sham impeachment over solving our nation's border crisis or fixing our crumbling roads and bridges," said Reschenthaler. "We were given less than 24 hours to review a two-part 2,313-page bill that funds every single part of the government. While the bill has some provisions I strongly support, such as increasing funding for our military, providing servicemembers a 3.1% pay raise, increasing funding for the NIH, repealing harmful taxes that were implemented by the Affordable Care Act, and numerous others, combining sweetener provisions with legislation that has not been adequately debated is not the right way to govern. This spending package will increase our national deficit and further saddle taxpayers with growing interest payments on our national debt." "We have had months to work in a bipartisan manner to responsibly fund the federal government, yet my Democrat colleagues chose to focus all of their time on partisan impeachment proceedings and leave their legislative duties until the last possible week to pass critical policies. Today's legislation feeds Washington's addiction to spending instead of curbing it and grows the size of the bloated federal government. We owe it to the American people to do what they sent us to Washington to do - our jobs." Background Congressman Smucker has been an advocate for reforming the federal budget process. In the last Congress, he introduced the Joint Commission on Budget Process Reform Act (H.R. 4911), that would have created a joint commission to review the federal budget process and make recommendations on how to make improvements. During the meetings I hosted with Trade Ambassador Lighthizer, Larry Kudlow and Peter Navarro, the President's top trade negotiators, I shared that Lancaster County is one of the top dairy-producing counties in the nation and the over 1,700 dairy farm operations in Lancaster represent a quarter of the dairy farms across Pennsylvania. Lancaster County is also one of the most productive in the nation for broilers, poultry, and eggs. The Trump administration listened to our concerns and under the USMCA Canada would eliminate their price control systems which effectively locked-out America's dairy industry." "At a time when many of our exporting businesses are facing uncertainty, the USMCA will expand access to critical markets in both Mexico and Canada. Both of these neighboring countries purchase more U.S.- made goods than our next to 10 trading partners combined. The USMCA will further foster this continental relationship, ensuring a future of long-term growth for American businesses. The strength of this agreement will also give President Trump and his administration more leverage in trade negotiations with China." I think what's happening is they're trying to undo the election, undo the votes that 63 million Americans cast for Donald J. Trump in the last election, said Congressman Glenn Thompson, (R), PA-15. Impeachment is a remedy that our founders provided to us in these circumstances where we believe that an executive has abused power. There's only one remedy and that's impeachment, said Senator Bob Casey, (D), Pennsylvania. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

The $1,396,497 grant will be used for the Johnstown Urban Industrial Park Connector Street project. "We are ecstatic to receive this funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission to commence work on the industrial connector road to the Johnstown Urban Industrial Park," said Melissa Komar, Executive Director for JRA. "For decades this land has remained unused and not able to be accessed. This additional funding is what we need to begin the work and is paramount to continue our efforts to push for heavy industry and manufacturing within the city of Johnstown." "The Johnstown Connector Street project has the potential to create nearly 400 new jobs," said Rep. Thompson. "The grant will cover 100% of project costs and contribute to utilizing the more than 100 acres available in the Urban Industrial Park, which has great potential for development and brining additional jobs to the area." The project includes the construction of new access road connecting Iron Street to Johnstown Urban Industrial Park in Cambria County, PA. This new roadway will create access to ten developable properties located next to major transportation corridors, including the east-west U.S Route 22 and the north-south U.S. Route 219. "By investing nearly $1.4 million in our community, this Appalachian Regional Commission grant will support critical infrastructure updates, as well as create jobs and expand economic opportunities in Johnstown and across the region," said Rep. Joyce. "This is great news for Johnstown and I am encouraged by the immense potential of this project." The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will administer the project and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will serve as the basic federal agency for the project. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

The agreement is the first major overhaul of U.S. trade policy with Mexico and Canada since the passage of NAFTA in 1993. After the vote, Congressman Glenn ‘GT' Thompson issued the following statement: "Today's vote is a major win for farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and 12 million American workers who support the $1.4 trillion of trade within North America annually," said Rep. Democrats interviewed Wednesday werecertain the president violated his oathof office by pressuring a foreign leader to interfere in the 2020 election for his personal gain. Most Republicans, meanwhile, are adamant that Trump did nothing inappropriate at all. For me, it was very clear after hearing overwhelming evidence from witness after witness after witness of what our president tried to do with American resources, really holding another country hostage for political gain, I think Congress has no choice but to go forward with this vote, said Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas. In a July 25 phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Trump asked that Ukraine work with his personal attorney and the attorney general on two investigations targeting his political opponents. One involved claims of Ukrainian involvement in the hack of Democratic National Committee emails in 2016, and the other involved former Vice President Joe Biden's efforts to force Ukraine to fire its prosecutor general, which Trump alleged was intended to protect Biden's son from a corruption investigation. Citing testimony at impeachment hearingsby current and former officials, Democrats assert the call was part of a monthslong campaign by the Trump administration to pressure Zelenskiy to publicly announce the investigations in exchange for military aid or a White House meeting with the president. Republicans stress none of those witnesses directly heard President Trump condition the aid on the investigations. Senate approval of the $738 million spending bill Tuesday comes a week after the House passed the measure 377-48. I was proud to support the NDAA reauthorization to continue strengthening our military and standing up for the men and women who serve our nation,U.S. Rep. Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, said. This bill provides a raise for our troops, creates the Space Force, and takes constructive steps on combatting certain PFAS chemicals. I'll continue working with my colleagues and President Trump to make sure our forces have what they need to keep us safe at home and abroad. U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard, also voted in favor of the legislation. He could not be reached for comment. The defense bill is part of a new bipartisan budget deal that fills in the details for $1.4 billion across government for the year. Congress has an obligation to ensure that our military has the resources necessary to respond to any threat to American security. I am pleased that the NDAA builds on the progress we've made in recent years to achieve this goal,U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Zionsville, said. Among the numerous positive provisions included in the NDAA are two that I led in the Senate. The first is the bipartisan Otto Warmbier BRINK Act that expands sanctions on the North Korean economy in response to Pyongyang's dangerous missile program and its flagrant disregard for human rights. The second will improve public awareness regarding of the potential risks posed by PFAS. The NDAA also includes a measure I supported that provides our government with the tools to sanction illicit opioid manufacturers, cartels, and the banks that finance them. This will help to combat the flow of deadly fentanyl into our country. However, the omission of a separate bipartisan measure I authored to withhold certain aid from any foreign government failing to cooperate with our government in reducing illicit fentanyl trafficking is a missed opportunity… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Trump: "Tonight marks the culmination of a nearly three-year effort to nullify the lawful election of President Donald J. Trump. Since the day he was sworn in, the priority of House Democrats has been to scrutinize, delegitimize, charge with crimes, and remove from office the duly-elected President of the United States. "The process, players, and underlying proof at the heart of this impeachment have been fundamentally flawed and brazenly biased. "Democrat leadership has stacked the deck at every stage of this process: cherry-picking rehearsed witnesses, hiding exculpatory evidence, limiting dissenting views, and denying the President meaningful participation and due process. "Chairmen Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff have led this impeachment process by presuming the President's guilt and racing towards a predetermined outcome. Chairman Nadler, along with two-thirds of the Democrat Judiciary Committee membership, voted to advance impeachment before any call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky took place. Equally disturbing, Intelligence Committee Chairman Schiff has a record of being untruthful to the American people about the details of his investigation, basic facts, and his staff's interaction with ‘the whistleblower.' "Even with a flawed process led by partisan players, Democrats still failed to provide any proof of Presidential wrongdoing. After months of polling and focus group testing aimed at creating the most politically advantageous allegations against our President, Democrat leadership arrived at ‘abuse of power' and ‘obstruction of Congress.' Senators Toomey and Van Hollen were joined by Senators Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), and Fred and Cindy Warmbier, whose son Otto died after being imprisoned in North Korea for over a year and for whom the legislation is named. Senator Toomey said: "This was a fight of over two years to get to this point. And to hold this regime accountable for the horrendous and appalling human rights violations - especially what happened to Otto Warmbier. Impeachment is a constitutional nuclear option of last resort. Historical precedent demands that this only occurs in the most extreme of circumstances, and should happen only after a formal law enforcement investigation where independent, non-partisan factual findings of criminal activity are presented to Congress. As a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, any legitimate investigation must be completely nonpartisan, must be 360 degrees in its scope, must leave no stone unturned, must not prejudge the outcome, must follow the facts wherever they lead and must report those facts with unimpeachable integrity. None of those elements have occurred here. This rushed impeachment inquiry was poisoned from the very start when House leadership made the irresponsible decision to place this investigation in the hands of Chairman Schiff's Intelligence Committee rather than referring the matter to law enforcement to conduct the fact-finding. In addition to dangerously politicizing an incredibly important national security committee, which will take years to recover from, this irresponsible decision broke with long-standing historical precedent in our nation regarding impeachment inquiries on multiple fronts. As a result, we were left with partisan politicians from both parties arguing over presumptions and perceptions rather than having an indisputable evidentiary record and bipartisan agreement on the facts. In March of this year, Speaker Pelosi told the Washington Post, Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there's something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don't think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. Chairman Nadler himself has stated, There must never be a narrowly voted impeachment or an impeachment substantially supported by one of our major political parties and large… 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Fred Keller (R-12), who co-sponsored the legislation. In an announcement Monday, Keller highlighted H.R. 4229 The Broadband DATA (Deployment Accuracy and Technological Availability) Act which changes how broadband service availability data is gathered, verified, and reported. It also creates requirements for data collected by broadband providers, while enabling the submission of independent data challenging the accuracy of FCC broadband maps, according to theCongress.gov. The other piece of legislation, H.R. 4227 the MAPS Act makes it unlawful to willfully, knowingly, or recklessly submit inaccurate broadband coverage information or data (mapping data) to the Federal Communications Commission, Both bills were introduced into the House in September. A report released last summer by the Center for Rural Pennsylvania and Penn State University showed a discrepancy between true internet speeds when compared to the FCC maps that rely on data provided by internet service providers. According to the study, more than 11 million broadband speeds from across the commonwealth were tested throughout 2018. The finding was that most median speeds did not qualify as broadband under the FCC's guidelines. Utilizing the FCC's guidelines, the report's authors added that there were no states that had at least 50% broadband connectivity and speeds were substantially slower in rural areas. When combined with historical data from 15 million residential tests, the discrepancy between numbers reported by internet service providers had become much more substantial since 2014. Expanding broadband data service coverage throughout Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District is one of the most crucial infrastructure projects we are working to achieve, Keller said. Congressman Scott Perry blasted Congressional leadership for continued fiscal mismanagement, after the House of Representatives passed a 2,300 page, year-long spending package only 12 hours after the text was made available to Members of Congress and the public. At a time while when the United States economy is experiencing the longest sustained period of growth in history, we keep jeopardizing that success with haphazard planning and lack of fiscal discipline. Not one of my constituents sent me to Washington to bankrupt our Nation or heap unconscionable debt onto our backs, or those of our children, Perry said. And we get a bill of this magnitude 12 hours before a vote? This is a breathtakingly negligent way to govern in so many ways; and I voted against it. The omnibus spending package cleared the House in two parts. The first (House Amendment to Senate Amendment to H.R. 1158 / the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2020: Defense, Commerce, Justice, Science, Financial Services and Homeland Security) passed the House 280 - 138. The second half (House Amendment to Senate Amendment to H.R. 1865 / the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2020: Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Energy and Water, Interior, Legislative Branch; Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, State and Foreign Operations, Transportation, and Housing) passed the House 297 - 120. We desperately need bipartisan leadership to overhaul the spending process. Perry concluded. The Senate and the President must approve the measures before December 20, 2019 to avert a government shutdown. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

The bill provides $1.375 billion in new border wall funding and protects the president's ability to use other funding for immigration and border enforcement activities. It also includes a 3.1% pay raise for our troops and provides a $22 billion increase in defense funding to rebuild our military after years of neglect by the Obama Administration. Similarly, H.R. 1865 funds programs administrated by the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Agriculture, Interior, Veterans Affairs, State, Transportation, and Housing. It increases funding for rural broadband programs by $642 million and provides $5.7 billion for substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and research to address our nation's opioid epidemic. Further, H.R. 1865 repeals three harmful Obamacare taxes – the Cadillac Tax, Health Insurance Tax, and Medical Device Tax. The measures also includes a n… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

Congressman Thompson voted in support of H.R. 1158, which funds defense and homeland security operations, and in favor of H.R. 1865, which funds domestic spending. Upon conclusion of the votes, Congressman Glenn ‘GT' Thompson issued the following statement: "While no appropriations package of this magnitude is going to be perfect, I voted to support our critical defense and national security operations that keep our country—and the men and women defending it—safe. This includes $1.375 billion in new border wall funding, while maintaining presidential authority over construction and border security operations. Similarly, the second vote contained significant domestic policy advancements, particularly for rural America, in the form of substance abuse prevention and resources to combat the national opioid epidemic, as well as increases to rural broadband and rural development programs, which help foster an environment for economic growth and opportunity." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

I am pleased that the NDAA builds on the progress we've made in recent years to achieve this goal. "Among the numerous positive provisions included in the NDAA are two that I led in the Senate. The first is the bipartisan Otto Warmbier BRINK Act that expands sanctions on the North Korean economy in response to Pyongyang's dangerous missile program and its flagrant disregard for human rights. The second will improve public awareness regarding of the potential risks posed by PFAS. "The NDAA also includes a measure I supported that provides our government with the tools to sanction illicit opioid manufacturers, cartels, and the banks that finance them. This will help to combat the flow of deadly fentanyl into our country. However, the omission of a separate bipartisan measure I authored to withhold certain aid from any foreign government failing to cooperate with our government in reducing illicit fentanyl trafficking is a missed opportunity." Background Defense Priorities in NDAA 3.1 percent pay raise for troops Funds modernization priorities outlined in the National Defense Strategy Provides military aid to America's allies PFAS Measures in NDAA Requires the EPA to collect data from PFAS manufacturers on the past production of these chemicals Directs the U.S. Geological Survey to perform nationwide PFAS sampling Issues guidance on how to dispose of and destroy PFAS BRINK ActThe BRINK Act offers foreign banks a stark choice: continue business with North Korea or maintain access to the U.S. financial system. It would impose mandatory sanctions on the foreign banks and companies that facilitate illicit financial transactions for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Fred Keller, R-Kreamer, is co-sponsoring a bill the lawmaker claims will reduce prescription drug prices. Americans pay too much for health care and one of the biggest contributors to rising health care costs is the high price of many prescription drugs,he said.As such, I am co-sponsoring the Lower Costs, More Cures Act, bipartisan legislation that will stop skyrocketing prescription drug prices by encouraging innovation and competition, increasing transparency, and promoting more low-cost options. Keller said he is hopeful that the legislation will pass because it will bring about meaningful reforms in prescription drug prices. We have talked with many professionals in the district, including doctors, and they said it is a good solution,he said. The bill is in response to a drug prescription bill pushed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which he said will lead tohigher prices, fewer cures and put the country on the road to socialized medicine. That legislation, the Lower Drug Costs Now Act, awaits a vote by the House, possibly this week. The bill includes provisions intended to make prescription drugs more affordable for Medicare recipients. A key provision would require the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to negotiate prices for some drugs. Meanwhile, the Over-the-Counter Monograph Safety, Innovation, and Reform Act, introduced by U.S. Rep. Bob Casey, D-Scranton, has passed the full Senate. Casey, along with U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., introduced the bill to overhaul the way over-the-counter medications are regulated and brought to market. The legislation seeks to streamline the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) regulatory system, ensuring oversight and speeding up the years-long approval process for new over-the-counter medications. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) announced two bills he co-sponsored that will help with rural broadband expansion unanimously passed the United States House of Representatives Monday: H.R. 4229 The Broadband DATA Act would help the Federal Communications Commission better determine where rural broadband is needed by collecting granular data on service availability, putting strict parameters on how and what data is collected, and providing a mechanism to challenge coverage area maps created by the FCC. H.R. 4227 The MAPS Act makes it unlawful to knowingly, willfully, or intentionally submit inaccurate broadband service coverage data. Expanding broadband data service coverage throughout Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District is one of the most crucial infrastructure projects we are working to achieve, Congressman Keller said. Having robust broadband data service coverage throughout our rural district will allow us to achieve our full economic potential and help our region become the driving force it is primed to be. The passage of these bills is the latest in a line of Congressman Keller working to expand rural broadband access for Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District. Earlier this year, Congressman Keller met with Claverack Electric Cooperative where he discussed the need and potential for rural broadband deployment throughout the district. Congressman Keller has also announced a number of federal grants for local governments within Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District that are aimed at expanding rural broadband coverage. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
https://keller.house.gov/media/in-the-news/cartwright-undecided-impeachment Cartwright undecided on impeachment 2019-12-13 2019 2019-12 Republican House PA Fred Keller K000395 keller.house.gov     legacy Despite holding a House Democratic leadership post, U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright said Thursday he remains undecided whether to vote with fellow Democrats for President Donald Trump's impeachment. I'm considering all the evidence that has come out in this investigation over the past several weeks and will be announcing a decision next week, Cartwright, D-8, Moosic, said. The House Judiciary Committee debated all day Thursday. The full House is expected to vote next week. Cartwright, who faces a tough re-election campaign next year in a district that Trump won by almost 10 percentage points in 2016, insisted he'll do what's right for the country. The fourth-term congressman, a co-chair of House Democrats policy and communications committee, called the evidence against Trump so far troubling. One thing that you can count on me for, though, is I'm not going to stick my finger up in the air and let the winds of public opinion make my decision for me, he said. I want people to know that I'm going to vote the right way, the way that I think is just and proper. The question facing him is whether the president's behavior warrants impeachment, he said. That's certainly a consideration, he said. House Democrats have introduced articles of impeachment that accuse Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump says he did nothing wrong in asking Ukraine's president during a July 25 phone call to investigate Vice President Joseph Biden and his son, Hunter, days after blocking almost $400 million in military aid to Ukraine. He has referred to the call as perfect and called the push for impeachment a hoax. The region's two Republican congressmen, Rep. Dan Meuser, R-9, Dallas, and Rep. Fred Keller, R-12, Snyder County, have made it clear they oppose the Democratic effort at impeachment. Keller called the articles' introduction Tuesday a sad day for our republic and said they are not fueled by any facts or first-hand accounts, but rather a fantastical hatred of Trump that's tearing the country apart. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

"Madame Secretary, your refusal to process claims is inflicting serious harm on students," Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., said in his opening statement. "These defrauded borrowers have been left with piles of debt, worthless degrees and none of the jobs that were promised." DeVos testified before the House education committee one day after NPR publishedinternal memosshowing that the secretary overruled her own department's findings that borrowers deserved full relief from their loans, because their college credits are essentially worthless. Hundreds of thousands of borrowers are in limbo, and several members referred to the memos in their questioning. The questioning got heated and personal at times. Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., in her trademark cowboy hat adorned with purple glitter, stated that the secretary was "out to destroy public education." Wilson told DeVos, "You are the most unpopular person in our government. ... When many people vote in 2020, they will vote to remove you." Rep. Virginia Foxx, the committee's ranking Republican, called those comments "over the line." In answering questions from the panel, DeVos acknowledged some of the problems. "Yes, there is a backlog of borrower defense claims at Federal Student Aid," she said. "To say that I am frustrated by that is an understatement." While she stated her intention to enforce current regulations in "good faith," DeVos also repeated her position that taxpayers' interests need to be protected when deciding who should get their money back and how much. "Students are my number one priority," DeVos said in her opening statement. "They are why I come to work every day. So if students have been deceived by institutions and suffered financial harm as a result, they should be made whole." Congressman Fred Keller (PA-12) on Friday announced the United States Department of Agriculture has extended the 2020 enrollment deadline for the Dairy Margin Coverage Program until December 20, 2019. The enrollment deadline is being extended due to prolonged and extensive impacts of weather events this year. I am glad to see USDA extend the enrollment deadline for the Dairy Margin Coverage Program to help our dairy producers, Congressman Keller said. I encourage all those interested in enrolling in the Dairy Margin Coverage Program to contact their local USDA service center for more information on how to enroll. The Dairy Margin Coverage Program was authorized in the 2018 Farm Bill offers reasonably priced protection to dairy producers when the difference between the all-milk price and the average feed cost falls below a certain dollar amount selected by the producer. It is also another tool to help dairy producers while the Trump administration forges stronger and fairer trade deals. Despite unanimous Republican opposition, the articles passed the committee by a party-line vote of 23 to 17. It is expected the House will consider H.Res. 755 on the floor next week. "Judiciary Democrats realize they can't beat President Trump on the merits, so they caved to their radical base and rushed through baseless articles of impeachment in record time," said Reschenthaler. "Democrats have no evidence to support their charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. If this case had come before me when I was serving as a district judge, I would have dismissed it at the preliminary hearing for lack of merit." After 14 hours of debate yesterday, Chairman Nadler abruptly postponed the final vote on the articles until 10 a.m. today. During the mark-up on Thursday, Reschenthaler offered an amendment to strike the obstruction of Congress charge given that the facts do not support Democrats' claims. When there is a disagreement between the executive and legislative branches, it is supposed to be resolved by the third branch, the courts. Democrats could have gone to the judicial branch to resolve their concerns, but because of a politically expedient deadline to send the articles to the Senate before Christmas, they have refused to take such actions. In comparison, when the Republican-led House was investigating President Obama's Fast and Furious scandal, which led to the death of an American border patrol agent, they challenged Obama's assertion of executive privilege in the courts. Chairman Nadler and Judiciary Democrats voted against Reschenthaler's amendment, upholding their baseless allegation of obstruction by a vote of 23 to 17. "Since assuming the majority, House Democrats have done nothing but waste taxpayer time and dollars on their attempts to undo the will of the American people," said Reschenthaler. "Medicare's prescription drug program limits insurers from providing seniors with plans that best fit their needs," said Senator Toomey. "My bill with Senator Crapo aims to address this by encouraging insurers to develop and offer a greater variety of prescription drug plans to seniors." "Medicare Part D is a successful program, operating on the free-market principles of choice and competition," said Senator Crapo. "Our legislation would build on that proven foundation by expanding the number of plan options and incentivizing innovative benefit designs. When we empower patients to make decisions, they can select the health care plan that best fits their needs. I will continue to work with my colleagues to advance policies that would lower drug prices, expand patient access to lifesaving medicines and encourage biopharmaceutical innovation." The Encouraging Innovative Benefit Design to Lower Costs for Seniors Act, introduced this week by Senators Toomey and Crapo, would meaningfully reduce costs at the pharmacy for seniors who need it most, without increasing costs for those who don't, by: Requiring the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to increase the maximum number of plan options from three to at least four plans in each region; and Allowing Medicare Part D sponsors to offer two additional plans provided that at least one of them passes on rebates to the consumer. The agreement was originally signed over a year ago, but Democrats sought significant changes. Promises made, promises kept, U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) said. USMCA is a big win and will further boost America's strongest economy in half a century. Congress should unlock the benefits of this great trade deal by passing it immediately. Thank you to President Trump for negotiating a replacement for NAFTA that puts American workers, farmers, manufacturers, and businesses first! The new agreement includes provisions aimed at improving the enforcement of worker rights, which may reduce Mexico's low-wage advantage and push some manufacturing back to the United States. The agreement also seeks to keep prices for biologic drugs down by eliminating a patent provision. Proponents of the USMCA say that it will help create jobs, boost the economy and support manufacturers, small businesses, and farmers in Pennsylvania and across the United States. The investigation is ongoing. UPDATE:Pennsylvania Congressman Fred Keller has released a statement regarding the 14-hour standoff situation that left two troopers injuredand the suspect dead. The standoff in Tioga County yesterday was a stark reminder that our police and first responders put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. We are thankful that both Troopers wounded in yesterday's incident are on the road to recovery, for the other Troopers who put their lives on the line to bring the standoff to a conclusion, and for the medical professionals who took care of our heroes. Our office continues to monitor the latest developments related to this incident. NELSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WENY) --After about 14 hours in a standoff with Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), a gunman has been killed. Troopers responded to a home on Barney Hill Road in Nelson Township of Tioga County yesterday to conduct a check on the welfare of a man who resides there. Information had been provided to authorities that he had not been able to be contacted for a couple weeks, which was reportedly unusual. Upon arrival, troopers say they announced themselves and attempted to ascertain if anyone was in the residence. A gunshot was fired at the troopers, and one was struck. PSP retreated, requested backup, and secured the scene. The trooper who was struck was Life Flighted from the scene. According to a PSP press release, he remains hospitalized and in stable condition. Another trooper sustained a leg injury at the scene. He was treated and released. The PSP Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was activated due to the individual barricading himself in the home. Authorities say attempts were made to get him to surrender from his barricaded position, but he refused. The man reportedly fired at PSP members several times during the approximately 14-hour standoff. At about 2 a.m. today, PSP SERT returned … 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Almost $2.5 million will go to Franklin Township for road repairs and PennDOT for repairs to bridges in Susquehanna County. "All of our roads were damaged and we still are working to get them restored," said Jeanne Sullivan, one of the Franklin Township supervisors. She remembers the damage that storms left back in August 2018. "The roads could be totally washed away, the shoulder to the road may have large ditches in them and the roads get flooded," she said. "This road here, my side yard had 5.5 feet of water in it. My little lighthouse here was totally underwater. Fortunately my house didn't get damaged." This area is one of many that's had to put up their own money to help get things cleaned up. "The townships roads aren't all repaired yet so it's been very difficult on our township finances so we're hoping to start getting money from FEMA," said Sullivan. That hope is coming true. Congressman Fred Keller announced about $1.2 million each for Franklin Township and PennDOT Susquehanna County in FEMA grant money. "It's really important to make sure this money gets back to help our county so that they have the investments in infrastructure that they deserve and count on every day for commerce, for education, getting kids to school," said Representative Fred Keller. While the roads in Susquehanna County are passable, there's plenty of work still to be done. That was highlighted during a meeting with PennDOT in October. A six year plan that'll hopefully be aided by this announcement. "Maybe other work got delayed, so now there will money to make sure that we can take care of infrastructure in Susquehanna County and all across PA-12," said Keller. "We'd just like to get the roads to what they were originally," added Sullivan. Keller says this grant money makes up about 75% of the total cost of the repair projects. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Representative Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) voted against the bill and issued the following statement: "Congressional action to address the prescription drug affordability crisis should be about people, not politics. While Democrats may have scored a few cheap political points with their socialist base by passing H.R. 3, they did nothing to help Americans who increasingly struggle to afford their medications. This government price-fixing scheme would lead to the development of fewer new cures and reduce access to existing life-saving drugs. We should focus our efforts on policy that will work and can pass such as H.R. 19, a bipartisan alternative to H.R. 3 that won't threaten medical innovation." Representative Kelly also spoke against H.R. 3 on the floor of the House during debate on the evening of December 11. Video below. Background If enacted, H.R. 3 would give the federal government unprecedented power to dictate the price of prescription drugs, which opponents of the legislation argue would destroy the incentive to invest in the discovery of new cures and limit access to existing life-saving medications. H.R. 3 is a Democrat messaging bill, not a serious effort to bring relief to Americans. Representative Kelly believes Americans deserve better than political games, particularly on issues as important as lowering prescription drug prices. He is an original co-sponsor ofH.R. 19, theLower Costs, More Cures Act, a bipartisan package of proposals that has a realistic chance of becoming law with the support of House Democrats. ##### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

This bill prohibits federal interference with the interstate traffic of unpasteurized milk and milk products that are packaged for direct human consumption. It's legal to drink raw milk in 50 states. It is legal to sell raw milk in 28 states. Congress has never passed a ban on raw milk. Yet, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did so in capitulation to a lawsuit. "Raw milk is a niche product highly valued by educated consumers who understand any risks associated with its consumption. This industry is vital economically for many small family farms in my district, who survive and thrive by selling directly to the consumer. Farmers throughout Pennsylvania's 11th District and the nation work tirelessly to ensure safe, nutritious dairy products are available to everyone," Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) said. "Small family farms have been consuming and distributing raw milk safely for hundreds of years. This bill rightly gets the federal government out of the way and decriminalizes farmers and producers who choose to sell or take unpasteurized milk and other dairy products to willing customers throughout the nation." "Federal agencies, such as the FDA, that are part of the executive branch do not and should not have the power to shut down trade between peaceful farmers and willing consumers. It is Congress's job to legislate," said Rep. Massie. "Our Interstate Milk Freedom Act would make it easier for families to buy milk of their choice by reversing the criminalization of specific dairy farmers." "So many people across the country want to make sure their food is fresh and local—including fruits, vegetables, and even their milk," said Rep. Pingree. "Raw milk is currently the only food banned for interstate commerce—an onerous regulation that hurts small farmers for selling milk straight from their cows to the consumer." Lloyd Smucker's (PA-11) amendment to permanently reauthorize the U.S. Department of Defense's Mentor-Protégé program with some additional accountability measures, and an amendment to require the DOD to submit a report that details the exact shortage of mental health providers at the DOD no later than 180 days after enactment. In April, Rep. Smucker worked across the aisle with Rep. Xochitl Torres-Small (D-NM) to introduce a bipartisan bill to permanently reauthorize the U.S. Department of Defense's Mentor-Protégé program with some additional accountability measures, the DoD's Mentor-Protégé program expired last year despite successfully operating for nearly 30 years. Senator's Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) lead the bill in the Senate. "Small businesses are playing a critical role in driving our current economic growth. Yet these businesses often lack the resources necessary to compete for federal government contracts," Rep. Smucker said. "Permanently reauthorizing the Department of Defense's Mentor-Protégé Program will give Pennsylvania's small businesses a reliable pathway to navigate government red tape through collaborative partnerships with their peers." The bipartisan Defense Small Business Advancement Act (H.R. 2974) will help connect small businesses in Pennsylvania and across the country with DoD contracting opportunities that otherwise may have been out of their reach. This legislation reauthorizes and brings greater accountability to the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP), which expired last year. The MPP increases participation of small, disadvantaged businesses performing as suppliers to DoD, civilian agencies, and private industry by encouraging mentorships from established DoD contractors. Unemployment is at a 50-year low, wage growth is accelerating for low-income Americans, and for the first time in our nation's history, there are more jobs than people seeking work. This economic boom can be attributed, in large part, to the historic, pro-growth tax reform enacted by congressional Republicans and President Trump. By cutting tax rates for everyone, simplifying the code, and making the business tax code more globally competitive, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has turbocharged America's economy. "I will continue to advocate for pro-growth policies, like the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, that expand opportunity for all Americans and increase the standard of living in Pennsylvania and across the country." Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) has co-sponsored H.R. 19, theLower Costs, More Cures Act,what he says isabipartisan solution aimed at lowering prescription drug prices that should be brought up for a vote immediately. Keller claims his co-sponsored legislation is unlike H.R. 3, theLower Drug Costs NowAct of 2019, in that it does not increase government control over the prescription drug market and limit cures, but rather increases innovation and promotes low costs options while bringing about greater transparency. H.R. 3, sponsored by Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ)requires the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to negotiate prices for certain drugs (current law prohibits the CMS from doing so). Specifically under H.R. 3, CMS must negotiateprices for insulin products and at least 25 single-source, brand-name drugs that do not have generic competition and that are among the 125 drugs that account for the greatest national spending or the 125 drugs that account for the greatest spending under the Medicare prescription drug benefit and Medicare Advantage (MA). According towhitehouse.gov,H.R. 3, theLower Drug Costs NowAct of 2019 may share the Trump Administration's first goal of lowering prices, but the Administration claims it will threaten continued medical innovation. "H.R. 3 aims to lower prices for select drugs by forcing drug manufacturers to accept prices set by the Secretary of Health and Human Servicesor otherwise face an excise tax of up to 95 percent of sales." Congressman Keller said, Americans pay too much for healthcare and one of the biggest contributors to rising healthcare costs is the high price of many prescription drugs. As such, I am co-sponsoring theLower Costs, More Cures Act, bipartisan legislation that will stop skyrocketing prescription drug prices by encouraging innovation and competition, increasing transparency, and promoting more low-cost options. Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared at the U.S. Capitol that they were upholding their solemn oath to defend the Constitution. Voting is expected in a matter of days in the Judiciary Committee and by Christmas in the full House. Trump swiftly responded in an all-capital-letters tweet with the words he uses repeatedly to decry the investigations against him:WITCH HUNT!The White House said the charges werebaseless, and his reelection campaign called themrank partisanship. Keller, a first-term Congressman whose 12th District includes Lycoming County, said Tuesday,There is no direct evidence that the President did anything. The Republican lawmaker said Democrats have been on afishing expeditionto find what they can against Trump since even before he was elected in 2016. The measure would give federal workers 12 weeks of paid leave to care for a newborn or adopted child extending the same benefits currently given to the military to the 2.1 million civilian members of the federal workforce. The United States is one of only two countries in the United Nations with no statutory national policy of paid maternity leave. The other is Papua New Guinea. Lawmakers negotiated the agreement over months as part of the National Defense Authorization Act, an annual defense spending bill. The must-pass defense bill has become a vehicle in recent years for a number of other policies, as Congress has been gridlocked on other legislation. The House is expected to vote on the massive defense bill las soon as Wednesday. It would then head to the Senate, and to Trump's desk for his signature. If approved, the parental benefits for federal employees would start in October 2020. The contentious paid parental leave measure was one of the last items to be finalized in the conference report. Democrats secured the massive expansion of benefits in exchange for including President Donald Trump's coveted plans to create a new space force, a deal first reported by theWall Street Journal. The defense bill would authorize the U.S. Space Force as an independent military branch under the Air Force, the sixth Armed Service of the United States, according to the committee'ssummaryof the bill. Significant first step' Democrats hailed the paid leave provisions as a victory. But what they wound up with is more narrow than what many progressives hoped for: paid leave not just for parents of new children but also for those caring for other family members that may be sick or in-need. Democrats vowed to push for more broad benefits in the future. Rep. Fred Keller, serving Clinton and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District, said Tuesday's announcement of two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump marka sad day for our Republic. Speaking from Washington, D.C., U.S. Rep. Keller said the articles by House Democrats follow an effort of over nearly four years by some career bureaucrats and members of the intelligence community to stop the Trump Presidency. Those who do not like President Trump's policies and resent him working to restore the power of the government to the people have worked tirelessly from the moment he announced he was running for President to find any possible means to tear him down,Keller said. The articles of impeachment announced today are not fueled by any facts or first-hand accounts, but rather a fantastical hatred for the President of the United States of America. The actions of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, and their House Democratic colleagues have doneand will continue to donothing but tear this country apart,he said. Prior to and during closed-door interviews of officials and public impeachment hearings, Keller has been a vocal opponent to actions against the president. Democrats are so afraid of a repeat of the disastrous Mueller hearing that they are starting public hearings only after wasting hundreds of hours auditioning witnesses in secret, shutting out the American people and 75 percent of their elected representatives to Congress. The rehearsed questions and prepared answers the American people are nothing short of political theatre orchestrated by Nancy Pelosi's impeachment Czar, Adam Schiff. These proceedings are not meant to get to the bottom of anything and are merely an attempt to check the box of transparency so House Democrats can continue their three-year-long coup and overturn the will of the people,Keller said. This bipartisan bill authorizes $738 billion in funding for our nation's military and provides a 3.1 percent pay raise for our troops, the largest increase in a decade. The legislation passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 377 to 48 and now heads to the Senate for consideration. As a former Navy JAG, I am deeply committed to supporting the military men and women who make sacrifices every day to protect our freedoms at home and abroad, said Reschenthaler. This bill willprovide American troops with the resources they need to defend our country from global threats, while also ensuring they are able to take care of their families. I am particularly proud the FY20 NDAA includes provisions I championed that will help servicemembers who have been the victims of medical malpractice and better protect sensitive defense research from Russia and China. I will continue to prioritize the needs of our troops and the security of our nation. The FY20 NDAA Conference Report provides the resources necessary to continue rebuilding readiness, modernize nuclear capabilities, develop emerging technologies and weapons, enhance missile defense, and confront our adversaries. "As a former Navy JAG, I am deeply committed to supporting the military men and women who make sacrifices every day to protect our freedoms at home and abroad," said Reschenthaler. "This bill will provide American troops with the resources they need to defend our country from global threats, while also ensuring they are able to take care of their families. I am particularly proud the FY20 NDAA includes provisions I championed that will help servicemembers who have been the victims of medical malpractice and better protect sensitive defense research from Russia and China. I will continue to prioritize the needs of our troops and the security of our nation." The FY20 NDAA Conference Report provides the resources necessary to continue rebuilding readiness, modernize nuclear capabilities, develop emerging technologies and weapons, enhance missile defense, and confront our adversaries. John Joyce and Glenn G.T. Thompson, both Republicans, once again offered their unequivocal support for President Donald Trump in regards to the investigation into his actions concerning Ukraine and the 2020 election when formal articles of impeachment against him were unveiled on Tuesday. The resolution, supported by Democrats in the House of Representatives, accused Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Joyce, from Pennsylvania's 13th District, and Thompson, from the 15th District, along with other House members, will likely soon be called upon to vote on the matter. Both have consistently opposed the impeachment process, considering it a political maneuver by Democrats. Impeachment has been a foregone conclusion for the Democrats, Thompson said in a released statement. By politicizing the most severe powers reserved for Congress, they will undoubtedly leave a lasting stain on the institution. After considering all of the information presented, I have only heard emotional arguments that do not rise to the level of impeachment. Therefore, I will not vote in favor of the articles of impeachment. The American people deserve much better than this spectacle and I encourage my colleagues to refrain from trying to score cheap political points on the campaign trail and get back to the people's work. Joyce offered similar remarks: Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi and House Democrats have been planning to impeach President Trump since Election Day 2016. For years, they have sought to undermine the President and prevent him from fulfilling his Constitutional responsibilities. Since gaining control of the House in January, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have obsessed over endless investigations of the Trump Administration, grasping at straws while withholding evidence from elected Members of Congress. In spite of this sham impeachment process, the American people have yet to see any direct evidence of wrongdoing. Following the vote, Congressman Glenn ‘GT' Thompson issued a statement: "When I visit with farmers throughout Pennsylvania, the overwhelming lack of a reliable workforce is their biggest challenge," said Rep. Thompson. "This bill extends the benefits of the H-2A visa program to our nation's dairy farmers, who are the backbone of Pennsylvania's agricultural sector. Although this bill is far from perfect, it is a step in the right direction towards addressing a major workforce shortage for Pennsylvania's largest industry. I remain hopeful that my colleagues in the Senate will refine this legislation to produce a guest worker program that truly works for our nation's family farms." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:45:33Z

That's the thinking behind Congressman Fred Keller's new plan to reduce prescription drug costs. But it's up against an alternative from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, which Democrats are trying to move through the House this week. "White traveling across Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District, I have made it a priority to meet with medical professionals and patients to discuss the topic of prescription drug prices," Keller said. "Their suggestions are simple: increase transparency, promote competition, and reform patent laws to allow generics to get to market faster. The Lower Costs, More Cures Act accomplishes those goals." Keller's H.R.19 is up against H.R.3, which requires the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to negotiate prices for certain drugs. Specifically, the CMS must negotiate maximum prices for insulin products, and at least 25 single-source, brand-name drugs that do not have generic competition and are among the 125 drugs that account for the greatest national spending. The bill also makes a series of additional changes to Medicare prescription drug coverage and pricing. According to a press release from Keller's Communications Director, H.R.19, unlike H.R.3, is bipartisan. WATCH THIS STORY HERE. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z

Republican Rep. Fred Keller, who has been one of the president's staunchest supporters since joining the House in a special election this year, called Tuesday a sad day for our republic. The articles of impeachment announced today are not fueled by any facts or first-hand accounts, but rather a fantastical hatred for the President of the United States of America, Keller said in a statement. The actions of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, and their House Democratic colleagues have done and will continue to do nothing but tear this country apart. Impeachment is the process by which the House of Representatives formally accuses the president of wrongdoing that it considers worthy of removal of office. If the articles of impeachment are approved in the Democrat-controlled House, the matter would then move to the Republican-controlled Senate for a formal trial. The two articles of impeachment unveiled Tuesday accuse the president of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The charges stem from allegations that the president improperly withheld promised monetary aid to Ukraine as a way to force an investigations into the business dealings of Hunter Biden the son of political rival Joe Biden, the leading candidate in a number of polls for the Democratic nomination for president. Rep. Madeleine Dean, a Democrat, argued that the president's actions constituted a misuse of power for his own benefit. President Trump put himself before the country violating a President's most basic responsibility, Dean wrote on Twitter. He broke his oath to the American people. He has left us no choice. We must act and protect our Republic. Dean was echoed by fellow Democrat Mary Gay Scanlon, who argued that Trump's actions were unique in American history.
