Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) is proud to announce the winner of Pennsylvania Eleventh Congressional District’s Second Annual Congressional App Challenge (CAC), which encourages students to utilize their STEM skills to create their own original app. The program was open to area middle and high school students in Lancaster and York counties. The 2024 Winning Team is a team of students from Warwick High School, including students Claire Diffenbach, Linnea Miller, and Isaac Widders. Their app called Plant Pule, that utilizes sensors to track humidity, temperature, light, and soil moisture in plants. The data collected from the sensors is then displayed on the app to compare them with the ideal values for these plants. Smucker met remotely with the team of students, while he was in Washington for voting session, to congratulate them on their win and to thank them for their participation. “Each of these students who participated in the Congressional App Challenge has a bright future. I want to congratulate our winners from Warwick. Their app and presentation were top-notch and with a potential for a positive impact on our agricultural economy. The community should be proud of these students’ efforts. I am amazed at the students’ skills and problem-solving abilities demonstrated through coding. I wish them well in all their future endeavors and was glad to learn these students intend to pursue STEM degrees. I look forward to seeing next year’s submissions and would encourage any interested student to participate,” said Rep. Smucker. The CAC was created because Congress recognized that STEM and computer-based skills are essential for economic growth and innovation and that the U.S. has been falling behind on these fronts. To maintain American competitiveness, it’s crucial that the United States invests in our youth now and helps them acquire these valuable skills. The CAC encourages students to pursue those skills and recognizes them for their efforts. # # # | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z |

The Caucus will focus on supporting Americans in living long, healthy, and fulfilling lives through access to affordable, high-quality foods while improving access to primary care. Senator Roger Marshall (KS) will lead the Caucus in the Senate. The Caucus will work closely with the incoming Trump Administration to build a stronger and healthier nation in the years ahead. “As a doctor, I recognize that healthy foods and physical activity play an important role in every American life. Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District is home to farms, orchards, and dairies that provide nutritious and healthy food for the American people. I look forward to working with Congressman Smucker, Senator Marshall, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and my colleagues in the House in order to advance our shared goal to make America the healthiest country in the world,” said Congressman Joyce. “I’ve spent my whole life in the Garden Spot of America. Pennsylvania’s 13th and 11th congressional districts are the largest agricultural communities in the Commonwealth. Through our abundant, locally grown, healthy, fresh food, I have seen the impact that diet can have on an individual’s health. In America, we have a health crisis with declining life expectancy, rising incidences of chronic diseases, and high rates of obesity. Unfortunately, too often federal policies have contributed to these alarming statistics. There is a real need to address these public health emergencies, and we must act now to pursue policies that will help Americans make more informed decisions about their health and wellness. I look forward to working with my friend and colleague Rep. John Joyce, members of the Make America Healthy Again Caucus in the House and Senate,… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z |

Mike Kelly (R-PA) supported the continuing resolution, which funds the federal government into March 2025, provides more than $100 billion in disaster relief aid and aid for farmers, and extends Farm Bill provisions. "Congress has a responsibility to keep government's lights on and its doors open for the American people, and that's what this legislation does," Rep. Kelly said. "This legislation also allows us to take care of the Americans who are still recovering from Hurricane Helene and other tragic natural disasters. This funding is critical, especially during the Christmas season. I look forward to working with President Trump in 2025 to make America great again -- again!" | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z |

Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) released the following statement after voting in favor of the American Relief Act of 2025: “The American Relief Act of 2025 continues funding the government at current levels until after President Trump takes office, at which point Congressional Republicans will be able to achieve a much more fiscally responsible bill. This bill is far different from the first version that was released for consideration, which contained many extraneous funding provisions that would have increased spending. The American people were right in opposing that bill. President Trump and Congressional Republicans were given a mandate to change government by cutting spending and streamlining the bureaucracy. The first bill would have been business as usual by including wasteful, bloated spending. I am happy it was not considered. While I am no fan of using continuing resolutions to fund the government, it is for these reasons that I voted in favor of the American Relief Act, which passed the House of Representatives. As the 119th Congress begins, I will work with President Trump to advance fiscally responsible legislation,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11). # # # | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z |

In a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Fitzpatrick pressed for swift federal action to address public safety, provide transparency, and enhance protective measures for the region. Growing reports of drones crossing into Pennsylvania from neighboring states like New York and New Jersey have intensified concerns about potential security risks and the origins of these unexplained activities. With growing reports of sightings of unidentified unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) near critical infrastructure, Fitzpatrick is urging for immediate federal action to address public safety concerns and transparency. Key questions raised in Fitzpatrick’s letter include: Has the FAA been able to access the remote identifications of the drones not acting in compliance? And if so, what can be determined about these UAS? Are federal agencies (DHS, FAA, and FBI) collaborating with state and local partners to ensure appropriate accountability measures are in place for violators of UAS regulations? What additional measures can authorities who oversee areas of critical infrastructure in this region implement to protect themselves from a potential threat to their privacy and security? Larry Jameson of the University of Pennsylvania, raising serious concerns about the recent actions of Assistant Professor Julia Alekseyeva, a faculty member in UPenn's English Department. Professor Alekseyeva’s social media posts, which appear to celebrate the alleged actions of a murder suspect, have sparked outrage among students, alumni, and the broader community. In his letter, Congressman Meuser highlighted Professor Alekseyeva’s posts, noting that she referred to Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the tragic murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, as “the icon we all need and deserve” and stated that she has “never been prouder to be a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.” Additionally, Professor Alekseyeva was recorded dancing while making these remarks, a disturbing display that trivializes the gravity of the crime and makes clear she does not have the judgment to be an academic leader. Meuser described these remarks as “outrageous and violat[ing] the basic ideals of a civilized society,” adding,“Professor Alekseyeva should be fired for her social media posts which are harmful, divisive, and inappropriate for an educator. It is evident by her actions that she cannot be entrusted with guiding and mentoring students at any institution of higher education.” Congressman Meuser underscored that this incident is part of a troubling pattern at UPenn, referencing earlier controversies involving antisemitic protests on campus. He wrote, “Earlier this year, the University of Pennsylvania was host to antisemitic protest that endangered students. Now, this incident involving Professor Alekseyeva has understandably sparked outrage and concern among the University’s students, alumni, and the broader community. It forces Congress to question whether safeguards are in place to ensure that faculty conduct reflects the ethical and professional standards in line with the University’s reputation as a center of excelle… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z |

Mike Kelly (R-PA) and U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) to designate U.S. Route 20 as the National Medal of Honor Highway. The bipartisan, bicameral bill has already passed the U.S. Senate and now heads to President Biden's desk for his signature. In the 16th Congressional District, U.S. Route 20 runs through Erie County. U.S. Route 20 runs coast-to-coast from Massachusetts to Oregon. This week's passage in the U.S. House comes after legislatures and governors in all 12 states along U.S. Route 20 have designated their state Medal of Honor Highways. “This designation covers more than 3,000 miles through Erie County and along U.S. Route 20, America’s longest highway. By designating U.S. Route 20 as the ‘National Medal of Honor Highway,’ we commemorate all 3,519 recipients of the award, both living and passed,” said Rep. Kelly. “It’s my sincere hope that the millions of Americans who travel the highway each year – from Bend to Chicago to Erie to Boston - will take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary sacrifice, courage, and devotion exhibited by every single Medal of Honor recipient. This year’s NDAA completes that objective by enacting a historic 14.5 percent pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers while also providing better access to housing, medical care, and child care. The last four years under the Biden-Harris Administration’s incompetence has emboldened our adversaries, enflamed and created conflicts across the globe, and endangered the lives of our servicemembers. As a Navy veteran, I will not stand by as liberal leadership destroys our Armed Forces and our nation’s future. The sake of our country’s future success relies on the men and women entrusted with protecting our freedoms. I’m proud to support this year’s defense bill which puts both our heroes and America first.” Specifically, this legislation: Authorizes a 14.5 percent pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers and supports a 4.5 percent pay raise for all other servicemembers. Authorizes $15.6 billion for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative to enhance U.S. deterrence and defense posture in the Indo-Pacific region. Declares that it is the policy of the United States to ensure Israel has adequate capability to defend itself against Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah. Permanently bans the Department of Defense (DoD) from providing transgender medical treatments on minors. Prohibits funding for the teaching, training, or promotion of CRT in the military, including at service academies and DoD schools. Fully funds deployment of National Guard troops in support of Border Patrol activities at the southwest border. Upon passage, Rep. Thompson released the following statement: “This year’s National Defense Authorization Act makes a substantial investment in personnel, equipping warfighters with the tools and resources necessary to counter rapidly developing global threats, while ensuring continued deterrence from America’s foreign adversaries. “With a focus on our brave men and women in uniform, I am especially pleased with the inclusion of the Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act, a bill I authored to ensure all military families have access to safe, affordable, and functional housing.” The Military Housing Transparency and Accountability Act expands access to a centralized assessment tool for members of the Armed Forces and their families to identify, rate, and compare housing options. NDAA Highlights: Provides a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted and a 4.5% pay raise for service members, including the 28,900 service members in Pennsylvania. Helps Pennsylvania’s military spouses attain and retain employment by making it easier to transfer professional licenses between states when families are transferred to a new base, codifying programs to provide employment support, and authorizing the ability to fill open civilian positions with qualified military spouses. Authorizes historic investments in military housing and facility maintenance, as well as substantial investments in new family housing units and barracks. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z |

Following a preliminary injunction issued by U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant that paused the January 1, 2025, compliance deadline, Rep. Meuser called for immediate clarity from FinCEN, citing their failure to adequately prepare businesses for compliance. “This injunction provides temporary relief, but FinCEN’s failures have left small businesses in the lurch,” said Congressman Meuser. “Despite oversight hearings, briefings, and repeated calls for action, FinCEN has done a supremely inadequate job helping small businesses understand or comply with these requirements. It’s time for them to step up, provide clear guidance, and formally delay enforcement to avoid crushing penalties and costs of up to $10,000 for businesses already struggling to keep their doors open.” Congressman Meuser, who conducted oversight of FinCEN on the Financial Services Committee earlier this year and followed up with a briefing on the Small Business Committee, led a group of lawmakers in sending a letter demanding FinCEN immediately clarify how the injunction impacts compliance obligations. Co-signed by Representatives Blaine Luetkemeyer, Andy Barr, Roger Williams, Barry Loudermilk, Young Kim, Zach Nunn, Monica De La Cruz, and French Hill, the letter also urged FinCEN to formally delay BOI enforcement until legal challenges are resolved. "Small businesses are the strength of our economy, yet FinCEN’s lack of preparation has turned this regulatory requirement into a significant burden,” added Meuser. “The January 1 deadline was never realistic given the chaos FinCEN created. We need immediate action to ensure businesses are not penalized for FinCEN’s incompetence." The station is responsible for responding to natural disasters, maintaining and repairing navigational aids along the rivers, safeguarding critical infrastructure, and responding to potential threats. Overall, the Coast Guard is responsible for 328 miles of navigable waterways in the region. In the letter, the lawmakers wrote: “We write regarding our significant concerns with the reduction of Coast Guard personnel and the potential removal of equipment and vessels at STA Pittsburgh. This decision will undoubtedly have steep economic costs for southwestern Pennsylvania. We must keep this waterway safe and navigable to protect the region’s economy and way of life.” Throughout his tenure in Congress, Reschenthaler has championed numerous efforts for the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela Rivers: Reschenthaler requested $205 million for Fiscal Year 2025 to physically complete construction work at the Montgomery Lock and Dam. In October 2024, Reschenthaler led a letter to the U.S. Army Corps to alleviate dredging issues on the Monongahela River. In August 2024, Reschenthaler led a letter to the U.S. Army Corps(USACE) urging them to fix the water depth issues allowing the river to continue supporting southwestern Pennsylvania’s economy. In March 2024, Reschenthaler secured $41 million to help complete the Monongahela River Project. In November 2023, Reschenthaler led a letter to the U.S. Army Corps outlining concerns for commercial and recreational access to the Allegheny River – specifically the lock and dam system. | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z |

ABLE accounts—special savings accounts for people with disabilities—allow individuals to save money without affecting their eligibility for federal assistance programs. This bill enables employers to make tax-free contributions to these accounts, offering greater flexibility in hiring and retaining employees with disabilities while helping these workers achieve greater financial independence. "Individuals with disabilities deserve the freedom to access employee benefits and save for retirement without risking their eligibility for critical federal programs,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick (PA-1). “By eliminating unnecessary barriers, our bipartisan legislation takes a bold step in protecting essential supports like the ABLE program while empowering employees with disabilities to achieve financial security and thrive in the workplace. This is about breaking down barriers and ensuring equal opportunity for all.” “Workers with disabilities should have the same access to employer benefits as anyone else, including the ability to save for their future,” said Rep. Davids (KS-3). “After speaking with Kansans like Rachel Mast, a person with Down syndrome, I introduced this bill to ensure that workers with disabilities can build financial security without sacrificing the federal benefits that help them succeed. It’s a commonsense fix that promotes equity, independence, and economic opportunity for millions of Americans.” Currently, many employers offer 401(k) matching contributions as a benefit of employment. However, workers with disabilities are often excluded from taking advantage of this option due to strict federal asset limits tied to programs like Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The BOP faces unprecedented challenges in recruiting and retaining correctional staff, with multiple BOP facilities in Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District understaffed by at least 20% compared to their authorized levels. Uncertainty over when the next paycheck will arrive should not exacerbate these staffing shortages and difficult conditions of working in a prison environment. The Keep Our Correctional Officers Paid Act would guarantee that correctional officers – who are required to show up to work every day of the year – continue to receive a paycheck even during a lapse in federal appropriations. “Federal Corrections Officers are essential personnel who work in a tough environment," Rep. Thompson said. "They should have an assurance they’ll get paid should a lapse in federal funding occur. This is common sense and sends a clear message that we appreciate their work day in and day out." “To ensure that correctional officers receive the same protections as other essential workers, we must pass this critical legislation and fulfill our duty to uphold public safety,” Rep. Reschenthaler and Roy were joined by 25 members in their letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. In the letter, the lawmakers wrote: “We call on the administration to end the unlawful, fraud-filled CHNV program and curtail TPS and other immigration relief provided to aliens paroled through CHNV. Without doing so, the Biden-Harris Administration’s immigration policies will continue to place significant burdens on communities across our nation.” Since January 2023, nearly 530,000 inadmissible aliens have entered the U.S. through the CHNV program. This decision has placed significant financial stress and burdens on communities across the nation, including Charleroi, Pennsylvania — which Reschenthaler represents. Recently, 25 Republican governors wrote to the Administration demanding information about the severely misguided immigration program and highlighting the negative impacts on local communities. In July 2024, DHS temporarily suspended the CHNV program due to widespread fraud. An internal DHS report found that the program sponsor’s personally identifiable information was being used hundreds of times on the application forms of different aliens. Notably, 100,948 forms were filled out by 3,218 serial program sponsors. The report also found that 24 of the 1,000 most used phone numbers for program sponsors belonged to deceased individuals and 100 physical addresses were used up to 739 times on nearly 20,000 forms. Under federal law, the Immigration and Nationality Act grants the President authority to parole aliens, but only temporarily and only on a case-by-case basis for significant public benefit or urgent humanitarian reasons. The CHNV program clearly exceeds the parole authority authorized by Congress. | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T22:07:06Z |

Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) and Gwen Moore (WI-04), members of the Ways and Means Committee, announce jointly-introducing the Survivor Justice Tax Prevention Act (H.R. 10055). This legislation will amend the nation’s tax code to ensure survivors of sexual abuse and unwanted and illegal sexual contact do not have to pay taxes on settlement income when they prevail legally against their abuser. The Members have introduced this legislation during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Under current law and practice of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), payments for damages awarded on account of personal physical injuries or physical sickness are exempt from gross income for federal income tax purposes. In implementing the requirement of a “physical injury” the IRS has imposed a standard that the victim must show visible physical conditions such as bruising, cuts or bleeding for the settlement to qualify for tax-free treatment. The observable harm standard can be especially difficult to meet and unfair in circumstances of sexual assault or sexual contact where such physical injuries may not be visible or have healed. Representatives Smucker and Moore’s legislation narrowly expands current law to help survivors of sexual assault or unwanted sexual contact by tying the IRS tax exemption to the definitions of sexual act and sexual contact in federal criminal code. “This legislation provides certainty for survivors of sexual assault and ensures that monetary settlements are exempt from federal income tax. I encourage my colleagues to stand with survivors by supporting this narrowly tailored legislation. I want to thank Rep. Gwen Moore for joining me in introducing this legislation,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11). “Right now, sexual abuse survivors who prevail in legal actions against their abusers must pay federal tax on monetary awards they receive unless they prove to the IRS they suffered physical harm. In a statement, Fitzpatrick said: "Today marks a long-overdue victory for justice and freedom. The release of Tigran Gambaryan comes as a profound relief for his family, his loved ones, and all of us who fought for his return. The injustices Tigran endured over the last eight months cannot become the standard for our U.S. nationals detained while abroad. We must stand firm against human rights abuses and ensure that no U.S. citizen is ever deprived of legal counsel or subjected to unjust imprisonment. While Tigran’s health has suffered, he is now where he belongs—home, surrounded by family. We pray for him on his road to recovery. Although we celebrate this victory justice, our work continues until every American citizen held wrongfully detained abroad is brought home.” This July, Congressman Fitzpatrick led a weeklong series of critical and successful intelligence meetings in Liberia, Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Germany. During the trip, Fitzpatrick met with Tigran Gambaryan, as well as Congolese Officials to advocate for the release of another American. Acting as a surrogate in negotiations, Fitzpatrick saw through the successful release of the detained U.S. citizen from DRC custody on Friday, July 19th. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:57:20Z |

"Well done parents and fellow citizens of Greenville Area School District. The federal Department of Education has no right dictating to parents what is best for their kids. They certainly should not be engaging in culture wars in our schools," Rep. Kelly said. Parents and community members raised concerns that changes to the district's Title IX policy would risk student safety, particularly for female students; and, "they also worry it opens the door for biologically male students to compete in girls’ sports," according to the Record-Argus. The Sharon Herald reports Greenville Area School Board President Rick Rossi said, “I have been in education for more than 50 years and I have never seen a policy come out of the government as bad as this." In April 2024, a mandate issued by Biden Administration expanded Title IX's term “sex discrimination” to recognize sexual orientation and gender identity. Rep. Smucker received the award during a visit to Maple Heights Farm in Fawn Grove, a third-generation grain farm operated by Julie Schrum, a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) Board of Directors. “The men and women of Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District, home to the Garden Spot of America and one of the largest agricultural districts in our Commonwealth, can count on me to advocate for policies in Congress that support farmers and producers. Our agricultural heritage is at the heart of our community. I will continue to fight for a Farm Bill that supports our community and farmers across the nation, as well as a pro-growth tax agenda that helps family-owned farms compete and be passed down from generation to generation,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11). “On behalf of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general farm organization, we would like to thank these members of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation for supporting legislation that benefits agriculture,” said PFB President Chris Hoffman. “The support from our Friend of Farm Bureau recipients helps preserve the future of family farms in Pennsylvania, maintain our ability to produce safe and affordable food for consumers, and provide resources to assist farmers in implementing conservation practices on the farm. With record-high input costs and an increase in red tape, farm families have been greatly challenged in recent years. Continued support by lawmakers to implement sound agricultural policy is vital to ensure food and national security.” Rep. Smucker is one of only seven of Pennsylvania’s elected officials who were selected to receive the award for the 118th Congress. This bill would require an expert panel to make recommendations on the installation or modification of school doors and provide a decade-long investment to implement this critical security upgrade nationwide. “We have a responsibility to ensure that every necessary safeguard is in place to protect our students, educators, and school communities in the event of a safety emergency,” said Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick. “The bipartisan SAFER Schools Act puts the physical security of our educational institutions front and center by mandating and funding the reinforcement of doors in every primary and secondary school nationwide. I am grateful to partner with Representative Moskowitz and continue my work with my good friend, the remarkable Tony Montalto, and Stand with Parkland in advancing this critical initiative. Congress must act with urgency and resolve to create the safest possible learning environments—our children’s safety and success and parents’ peace of mind depend on it.” "Last year, Congressman Fitzpatrick and I walked the halls of my alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. What we saw was a horrific scene that shocks the conscience and demonstrates just how much work we still must do to protect our kids in schools. In Florida, I lead the passage of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas School Safety Act, which provided for many school safety enhancements - including grants for entryway hardening. The SAFER Schools Act that Congressman Fitzpatrick and I are introducing is an important step towards making these safety enhancements nationwide and ensuring other communities do n… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:57:20Z |

Trump released a bipartisan interim report entitled “Interim Staff Report: Investigating the Stunning Security Failures on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania.” The report contains preliminary findings and includes information obtained during the initial phase of the Task Force's investigation, which focused on the state and local law enforcement partners who assisted Secret Service at the rally. The preliminary findings in the report are based on 23 transcribed interviews with local law enforcement officials; thousands of pages of documents from local, state, and federal authorities; and testimony from the Task Force’s public hearing on September 26th. Notably, the report reveals new excerpts of testimony from Butler, Pa. local law enforcement produced during closed-door transcribed interviews with the Task Force. The report also provides a glimpse into the Secret Service’s inadequate preparation and communication with local law enforcement partners prior to and during the July 13 rally. The Report Contains Eight Key Findings: There was inadequate planning and coordination by the Secret Service with state and local law enforcement before and during the July 13 rally. The Secret Service did not place the AGR complex that the shooter fired from, and the surrounding area, inside of the secure perimeter. Local sniper teams positioned inside the AGR complex had a narrow field of vision and were not positioned to monitor the full AGR property. There was no unified command post to facilitate communications between the Secret Service and its state and local partners Critical pieces of information about Crooks and the escalating threat situation at the AGR complex moved slowly due to fragmented lines of communication and unclear chains of command on July 13. Testimony from local law enforcement indicates that they fired a shot at Crooks prior to the USSS sniper firing the kill shot. This investment will construct a local conservation hub and increase environmental stewardship throughout the region. "ClearWater Conservancy has been working for decades to advance voluntary conservation efforts throughout our region," Rep. Thompson said. "The construction of the ClearWater Community Conservation Center will help boost ecotourism and agritourism throughout the area. With this project, there is going to be something for everyone to enjoy. Congratulations to ClearWater Conservancy and their many partners and volunteers for their continued dedication to Central Pennsylvania's streams and natural landscape." ARC POWER grants target areas affected by the coal-related job losses. ClearWater plans to use the grant to increase public events, educational opportunities and community programming. A historic farmhouse and barn on the property will also be renovated. An ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessible trail will be established to connect the center to the Spring Creek, a world-renowned trout fishing stream. "I was thrilled to receive GT's call telling me that ClearWater would receive a $2 million ARC grant for the new Community Conservation Center," saidFord Stryker of ClearWater Conservancy. "We appreciate the Congressman's support to secure this grant, which is a critical piece of the funding strategy because local philanthropy could not cover all the construction costs. Kelly's Butler office. The Congressional Award is a non-partisan, voluntary, and non-competitive award program for young Americans. The Congressional Award is open to ages between 14-24. The program encourages young Americans to set goals in important areas: expedition and exploration, physical fitness, personal development, and voluntary public service. Participants are awarded with a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Certificate, as well as Medals. Perkins, 23, began working on the Congressional Award when he was 14 years old. He is a recent graduate of Geneva College. He quickly began focusing on his professional life, becoming a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a PIAA soccer official. “It is with great pride and admiration that I recognize your exceptional accomplishments, and I thank you for your service and dedication to our community,” Rep. Kelly said. “You are an inspiration to others, and I have every confidence that you will continue to achieve remarkable success in all that you do.” “My focus for this award was serving those in my community through various ways, including volunteer income tax preparation and serving in soup kitchens. I served as a volunteer income tax preparer through the VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) at the Center for Community Resources in Butler, where we prepare income tax filings for people who make under $50k a year. The legislation would improve care for seniors by streamlining and standardizing the way Medicare Advantage (MA) plans use prior authorization and increasing oversight and transparency. “With over 33 million Americans enrolled in Medicare Advantage, modernization of the prior authorization process is long overdue. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, hundreds of health care organizations, Americans from all corners of the country agree – streamlining this process will allow our Nation’s seniors to receive the care they are entitled to more efficiently. As champions of this legislation, we are grateful to our bipartisan majority of House colleagues for their support, and look forward to working with them to get this critical bill signed into law.” BACKGROUND Prior authorization is a tool used by health plans to reduce unnecessary care by requiring health care providers to get pre-approval for medical services. However, the current system often results in unconfirmed faxes of a patient’s medical information or phone calls by clinicians which takes precious time away from delivering quality and timely care. Prior authorization continues to be the #1 administrative burden identified by health care providers, and three out of four Medicare Advantage enrollees are subject to unnecessary delays due to prior authorization. In recent years, the Office of the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) raised concerns after an audit revealed that Medicare Advantage plans ultimately approved 75% of requests that were originally denied. More recently, HHS OIG released a report finding that MA plans incorrectly denied beneficiaries’ acce… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:57:20Z |

On October 7th, Hamas launched a brutal and unprovoked assault on innocent civilians in Israel, including Americans, marking the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. This grim anniversary serves as a solemn reminder of the families torn apart, communities devastated, and the deep wounds that still linger. Yet even in the face of such unspeakable tragedy, one truth remains steadfast: Israel will endure, and those who seek its destruction will never prevail. In the two months following this heinous attack, antisemitic incidents in the U.S. surged by 358% compared to the previous year. A year later, this pattern of hatred and violence continues to rise across the world. We cannot—and will not—allow antisemitism to become normalized. We cannot let terror take root. As Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, it is my mission to ensure our friends in Israel and our Jewish communities here in America and around the world are not just supported but protected—unequivocally and without hesitation. I have, and will always, push forward and champion initiatives to confront the scourge of antisemitism at every level—from our campuses to the global stage—because this hatred, in all its forms, must be met with unwavering rejection and decisive action. Today, as we remember the victims of October 7th, we renew our vow to be relentless in the fight against terrorism and antisemitism and to stand unwaveringly with our friends in Israel, always. Though hatred seeks to divide us, the resilience of the human spirit and the strength of our shared values will prevail. Together, we will ensure democracy, freedom, justice, and peace triumph." | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:57:20Z |

Rare Cancer Day is observed on September 30 to highlight the challenges patients face and to unify individuals living with rare cancers for awareness and early diagnosis. Approximately 1 in 5 Americans living with cancer are diagnosed with a rare cancer. Additionally, all pediatric cancers are considered rare, according to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), meaning 15 million children in the United States are living with rare cancers. Examples of rare cancers include: Cholangiocarcinoma, Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), Ocular Melanoma, Fibrolamellar carcinoma (FLC), Medulloblastoma, sarcomas and all pediatric cancers. "Cancer does not discriminate, it has impacted all of us in some way," said Rep. Mike Kelly. "Today, we recognize Rare Cancer Day to raise awareness and support research that will work toward a brighter tomorrow for all Americans who are battling cancer. I thank my House Cancer Caucus colleagues for joining me in this effort." “Far too many families have been touched by cancer. And, unfortunately, one in five people living with cancer has a rare cancer,” said Rep. Derek Kilmer. “In recognition of Rare Cancer Day, I’m proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan resolution highlighting the challenges facing folks living with rare cancer and committing to ensuring rare cancers get the research funding needed to find cures. It’s essential that Congress does its part to invest in cancer research and raise awareness for the millions of Americans who are battling cancer.” "Every year, over 400,000 Americans are diagnosed with a rare form of cancer," said Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. Trump held its first official hearing on the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pa. Witnesses during the hearing featured state and local law enforcement officials who were on-site during the July 13 rally. Officials told the Task Force a lack of preparation and communication from the United States Secret Service ahead of the rally greatly contributed to the security failures that day, which led to the death of Corey Comperatore and injured the former President and two others. The Task Force will continue its investigation of the incident and strive to identify solutions that will prevent security failures, such as those experienced on July 13, from recurring in the future. You can watch the full hearing on the Task Force's YouTube channel here. You can follow their work on their website here. Read Chairman Kelly's Full Opening Statement here. Key excerpt of Chairman Kelly's Opening Statement: “Because of failures by the Secret Service, the shooting was not prevented. Just last week, Acting Director Rowe said his own agency showed “complacency”. The day of the assassination attempt, Crooks scouted and identified weaknesses in the Secret Service’s security plan using both a drone and range finder. Had security vulnerabilities not existed, it is entirely plausible he might not have even attempted the shooting and returned home.” Read Ranking Member Crow's Opening Statement here. Key excerpt of Ranking Member Crow's Opening Statement: "Political violence has no place in our democracy, period. We must be united in our belief as Americans—not as Republicans or Democrats—that political disagreement is settled through rigorous debate, not violence. That is why this Task Force's investigation and today's hearing are so important. Since the establishment of this Task Force just two months ago, I have worked closely with Chairman Kelly to ensure this investigation is and remains… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:57:20Z |

According to local officials and community stakeholders, the Gray Cut plan which includes constructing a 3.8-mile three lane roadway south of the existing tunnel would cause a groundwater loss that will negatively impact wetland and water sources. Thousands of businesses, organizations, and communities in Pennsylvania’s 14th Congressional District rely on the Laurel Highlands and its scenery to stimulate our region’s economy and foster a sense of community. In the letter, Reschenthaler wrote: “I urge PTC to reconsider alternative plans in collaboration with the local community. It is critical that we do not jeopardize decades of work done by these stakeholders to make Somerset County a beautiful place to live, visit, and do business." In November 2021, PTC commissioned a study that determined improvements to the Allegheny Tunnel in Somerset County were necessary. After exploring eight potential alternatives to address the needs, PTC chose the Gray Cut option despite concerns from the local community and burden on taxpayers and motorists. Others opposed to the proposal include State Representative Carl Metzgar, Somerset County Commissioners, the Somerset County Conservancy, and the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Berlin, among other local organizations. | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z |

The bill is a direct response to the wrongful detainment of American citizens Ryan Corbett and George Glezmann. Corbett, who grew up in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, was detained by the Taliban in August 2022 while working in Afghanistan, and Glezmann was detained in December 2022 during a five-day cultural trip. Both men have been held in deplorable conditions, with their health rapidly deteriorating. The United States is the single largest humanitarian donor in Afghanistan. The U.S. has provided $2.6 billion in humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan since mid-August 2021. Meuser said, "Last month marked three years since the Biden-Harris Administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, which allowed the Taliban to seize control of the country. And despite the Taliban’s wrongful imprisonment of Americans like Ryan Corbett and George Glezmann, this administration has continued to provide billions of dollars in humanitarian aid to the terror group. The United States is the largest humanitarian donor to Afghanistan, and my legislation would ensure that not one penny more will be sent until every American hostage is released. We must leverage all options, including withholding financial aid, to secure the release of Ryan and George." Dutch Ruppersberger. H.R. 9747, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025, passed in the U.S. House of Representatives today in a 341-82 vote, keeping the government funded – and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits flowing – through December 20, 2024. It is expected to be taken up in the U.S. Senate quickly. Last month, Fitzpatrick, along with Representatives Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Mike Lawler (R-New York), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Oregon), James P. McGovern (D-Massachusetts), Dan Goldman (D-New York), Anthony D’Esposito (R-New York), Marc Molinaro (R-New York), Kweisi Mfume (D-Maryland), Brittany Pettersen (D-Colorado) and Grace Meng (D-New York) sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging them to allow victims of SNAP theft to continue to be reimbursed from federal and state coffers. Reports of SNAP theft – in which perpetrators use skimming devices to steal SNAP benefits distributed on electronic debit cards (EBT) – are skyrocketing across the nation. States are currently required to replace stolen benefits under a measure included in the 2023 omnibus funding bill passed by Congress at the end of 2022. But that provision was set to expire on September 30. “Thousands of Bucks and Montgomery County residents depend on SNAP to put food on their tables, which is why I was proud to join my colleagues in the critical fight to prevent SNAP theft reimbursements from ending. This common-sense reimbursement provision is essential to safeguarding the integrity of the SNAP program and ensuring families in my community and nationwide who have fallen victim to SNAP theft can quickly recover their benefits. Additionally, Fitzpatrick secured over $19 million in CPF Funding for 13 projects in FY23 and over $6.6 million in CPF funding for 10 projects in FY22. Meuser’s legislation specifically targets foreign overreach by addressing the European Union's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), requiring the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to study how this EU directive harms U.S. businesses. CSDDD imposes politically motivated environmental and social mandates on U.S. businesses operating in European markets, threatening U.S. economic sovereignty, and harming our economy. Any U.S. business that does $100 million in revenue in the EU is captured and forced to comply or face heavy penalties. "Let me be clear—Republicans are not against ESG as an investment choice," said Congressman Meuser. "If individual investors want to prioritize environmental, social, or governance factors, that’s their freedom. What we oppose is when these ideological views are mandated—when investors and businesses are forced to comply with burdensome regulations that prioritize political ideology over profitability." Congressman Meuser’s legislation prioritizes economic growth, limits regulatory overreach, and safeguards the freedom of choice for American investors. Congressman Meuser urges the Senate to swiftly pass this important legislation to ensure American businesses and investors are protected from harmful, unnecessary mandates. The CPF was introduced by Fitzpatrick into the FY2024 Consolidated Appropriations Act as a part of the Community Project Funding program—an initiative allows Members of Congress to target federal funds towards projects and programs within their congressional districts that will address the most significant needs facing the communities they represent. Through the Community Project Funding Request process for the 118th Congress, which was included in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget, Fitzpatrick successfully secured more than $27.5 million in funding for 14 transformative community projects that will directly benefit First District constituents. Additionally, Fitzpatrick secured over $19 million in CPF Funding for 13 projects FY23 and over $6.6 million in CPF funding for 10 projects in FY22. With this critical funding, this new, state-of-the-art facility will provide a safe, healthy environment where our senior citizens can access professional services and engage in enriching activities and programming. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for a new, safer, and expanded center has become urgent. The new infrastructure will not only offer critical pandemic prevention and response measures, such as expanded rooms for social distancing, but will include new outdoor gathering spaces, ensuring that seniors have safe, flexible options to connect and thrive. “One of the last few pieces of the Township infrastructure that needed to be upgraded is the Senior Center,” stated Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen. “I want to really thank Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for all his support to help make our Township a great place to live, work and play.” “Ou… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z |

These obstacles demand bold, common-sense solutions and our unwavering support—an effort I am proud to lead,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) and Don Beyer (VA-08), members of the Ways and Means Committee, announce jointly-introducing the Ensuring Nationwide Access to Better Life Experience (ENABLE) Act (H.R. 9614). This legislation helps individuals with disabilities save for their futures by permanently extending three provisions of the tax code which expire in 2025. In 2014, Congress established Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) accounts allowing individuals with disabilities and their families to save and invest in tax-free savings accounts without losing eligibility to federal support programs like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income. In nearly a decade 162,000 ABLE accounts have saved more than $1.7 billion with an average account holder balance of nearly $11,000. Expiring tax provisions supporting ABLE accounts include allowing individuals with disabilities to contribute more to their ABLE account if they are employed, eligibility for a non-refundable savers credit of up to $1,000, and rollover of qualified funds into an ABLE account from a 529 education savings account. “Individuals with disabilities and their families ought to have certainty about ABLE account tax provisions. Passing The ENABLE Act will ensure just that and allow individuals to continue to save and invest for their futures. I thank Rep. Beyer for joining with me on a bipartisan basis to advance this critical legislation which I encourage all my colleagues to support,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11). “ABLE accounts provide people with disabilities the means to save for their future and improve their lives,” said Rep. Don Beyer. “Our legislation would permanently extend three temporary improvements that dramatically expanded the reach and effectiveness of ABLE accounts, facilitating long-term saving and helping individuals with disabilities build an independent financial future.” “ABLE accounts have given people with disabilities the opportunity to live far more independently all across the United States,” said Pennsylv… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z |

Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) to aid foster children, families, and child welfare agencies (CWAs) was approved by the House of Representatives. Rep. Smucker’s legislation was included in the comprehensive and bipartisan Supporting America’s Children and Families Act (H.R. 9076) which reauthorizes and reforms child welfare programs authorized under Title IV-B of the Social Security Act and ensures states can continue to use contractors to support their child welfare programs, which will assist Lancaster and York County programs. The legislation was adopted by a vote of 405 to 10. Watch Rep. Smucker’s remarks in favor of H.R. 9076. “All children deserve to grow up in a safe and loving home. I am grateful that policies I’ve introduced to support kinship care, incentivize the recruitment and training of additional caseworkers, reduce administrative burden, and gather data on failed adoptions from foster care and assess the effectiveness of post-adoptive services have been approved by the House. This legislation will strengthen families, the cornerstone of our society. This bill should be taken up by the Senate and signed by the president immediately,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker. Background: Approximately 19,000 foster youth age out of the system every year. Unemployment rates for individuals aging out of the system can reach 69 percent according to the American Youth Policy Forum. It is estimated that 20 percent of foster care youth experience homelessness upon turning 18. Studies indicate former foster care youth are involved in the justice system at high rates, with 70 percent having been arrested by age 26. The AI Ads Act would prohibit fraudulent misrepresentation of political candidates or committees through content generated by artificial intelligence (AI), as well as codify bipartisan recommendations made by the Federal Election Committee (FEC). “Safeguarding the integrity of our elections is a responsibility that transcends party lines. As technology rapidly evolves, so must our defenses against those who seek to deceive voters and undermine our democratic process. Since my first day in Congress, I have made it my mission to champion election reform, and our bipartisan AI Ads Act is a decisive step forward in that fight. Our legislation will shield the American people from the dangers of deceptive AI-generated content, ensuring our elections remain free, fair, and true to the will of the American people. This is not a partisan or controversial issue—it’s about restoring faith and upholding the trust that voters place in our democracy, a commitment I will never waver from,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick. “In an era where artificial intelligence can blur the lines between truth and fiction, Congress should safeguard the integrity of our electoral process,” said Rep. Kilmer. “The AI Ads Act, grounded in recommendations from the Federal Election Commission, would ensure that fraudulent misrepresentation in political campaigns, whether by humans or AI, is prohibited. By expanding the scope of these prohibitions, Congress has the power to fortify our electoral system against domestic and foreign manipulators. This honor celebrates her remarkable lifetime of advocacy and tireless pursuit of equality both on and off the tennis court. I am proud to have authored and led this bipartisan, bicameral effort with Rep. Sherrill and Senator Gillibrand to award the indomitable Billie Jean with the Congressional Gold Medal for her lifetime of advocacy and leadership in the pursuit of equality. That’s why it has been an absolute honor to help lead the bipartisan effort to add another ‘first’ to Billie Jean’s resume of trailblazing accomplishments: the first individual female athlete to earn the Congressional Gold Medal,” said Rep. This legislation requires federal agencies to regularly review regulations on the books and consider their impact on small businesses when determining if they should remain in place. Under current law, agencies must review their rules every 10 years, but they can delay these reviews for up to five years without providing an explanation. This legislation aims to reform that process by limiting the delay to just one year and requiring a clear justification for any postponement. Additionally, the legislation requires agencies to conduct both a qualitative and quantitative analysis of their regulations—looking at the actual costs, compliance burdens, and paperwork hours required since the rule was implemented. This is crucial for understanding the real-world impact these regulations have had on small businesses and communities. The bill also requires agencies to determine whether regulations should remain on the books. Since the Biden-Harris administration took office three and a half years ago, regulations they issued have added $1.68 trillion in costs and 324.7 million hours in annual paperwork for Americans. Small businesses simply do not have the ability to hire enough lawyers and accountants to navigate this complex and often burdensome web of federal regulations; that burden falls squarely on them. H.R. 9085 seeks to reduce that burden by ensuring federal agencies are actively reviewing and streamlining regulations. Meuser said, “We must hold federal agencies accountable for the regulations they impose. Burdensome rules can’t be allowed to accumulate year after year without proper review. Excessive regulations hit small businesses the hardest. It's our responsibility to keep the federal bureaucracy in check and ensure they are not perpetually burdening small businesses with regulations. "In some cases, short lines provide the only source for local companies to ship their products nationally. This legislation allows rail companies to continuing to provide safe and efficient service and provides a return on taxpayer investment." “Short line rail is absolutely critical for rural and small communities. Modernizing the railroad track maintenance credit will help to invest in this critical infrastructure that extends opportunity to the furthest reaches of our communities," said Rep. Blumenauer. “The 45G tax credit has been a powerful incentive for short lines to put more of their own funds to work upgrading track and bridges to modern standards, a benefit for the entire interconnected freight rail network, thousands of rail shippers in critical industries, and the American public. Short lines operate one-third of the nation’s rail system, and are the origin or destination point of one in five cars moving throughout the system,” said Chuck Baker, President of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA). “This game changing policy has been responsible for more than $8B in investment to date, but outdated caps and limitations are threatening to erode its potency. This legislation, the result of tireless advocacy from affected families, campus safety professionals, and dedicated organizations, addresses the persistent problem of hazing on college campuses around the country, protects students, educates parents, and increases transparency. Hazing is a serious threat to life and safety on campus but is currently not required to be reported as a campus crime statistic at the federal level. The Stop Campus Hazing Act would require institutions to report hazing incidents in their Annual Security Report, also known as their Clery Report, and enact a responsible definition of hazing that holds perpetrators accountable and protects students nationwide. The bill also streamlines reporting requirements by respecting state law and includes several transparency measures to ensure students, parents, and the public can access information about hazing incidents within any student organization. This bill was shaped by the efforts of Evelyn and Jim Piazza, whose son, Tim Piazza, tragically passed away in February 2017 at Penn State as a direct result of a hazing ritual at his fraternity. Their advocacy led to the establishment of the Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research and Reform at Penn State, whose research helped shape the Stop Campus Hazing Act and led to the enactment of some of the strongest anti-hazing laws anywhere in the country in Pennsylvania. “Hazing is simply not an acceptable behavior and one that can lead to great bodily harm, even death, leaving families struggling with the loss of their loved one, changing the trajectory of their lives forever," Rep. Thompson said. The Section 199A deduction provides a 20 percent deduction for pass-through businesses, allowing these businesses to reinvest their hard-earned capital, increase wages, and hire more employees. The new study found that 2.6 million jobs and $325 billion of the GDP are supported by the deduction. Smucker and Daines introduced the Main Street Tax Certainty Act to make this 20 percent pass-through business tax deduction permanent. “This report underscores what I have heard directly from small and family-owned businesses in my community and across the nation. Section 199A allows main street businesses to grow, create jobs, and invest in their community. Making Section 199A permanent will prevent a massive tax hike and provide small business owners and their employees the certainty they need to thrive,” said Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), a member of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee and lead sponsor of the Main Street Tax Certainty Act in the House. “It’s no surprise that when we provide our small businesses with much-needed tax relief, they not only thrive, but they help the whole economy grow. It’s time this tax deduction is made permanent so that Montana small and family-owned businesses can continue to create jobs, serve their communities and spur economic activity,” SenatorDaines said. “Making the Section 199A small and family business deduction permanent is essential to blocking a massive tax increase on Main Street businesses while ensuring they remain competitive with the lower rate applied to larger, public corporations. This study makes clear that 199A supports millions of jobs located in thousands of communities around the country. Without it, those communities would have fewer jobs, lower wages, and smaller economies. The Daines/Smucker Main Street Certainty Act need… | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z |

In his letter, Congressman Meuser addresses serious concerns about Meta's practices related to content suppression and potential election interference. Congressman Meuser's letter highlights several key points: Content Manipulation Under Government Pressure: Congressman Meuser directly addresses Zuckerberg’s acknowledgment of Meta's decision to manipulate content on its platforms. He states, "Your dissemination of misinformation can easily be construed as election interference and very well may have impacted the 2020 presidential election. Your acknowledgement of censoring the New York Post’s article related to Hunter Biden’s laptop limited the open exchange of information related to a free and fair election." Partisan Contributions Through the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative: Congressman Meuser raises concerns about the $400 million contribution from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to The Center for Tech and Civic Life and The Center for Election Innovation and Research during the 2020 election cycle. "It’s my understanding derived from official FEC testimony, that nearly $25 million of those funds were used in four of the sixty-seven counties in Pennsylvania (Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, and Philadelphia). These counties, as you and your organization were aware, are heavily Democratic counties," Meuser writes. He also highlights that "the choice of organizations that the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative contributed to are in fact very partisan and have a long-standing record of being far left of center." Illegal Ballot Harvesting Allegations: Congressman Meuser points out the serious allegations regarding the involvement of these organizations in ballot harvesting, an illegal practice in Pennsylvania. This federal grant is funded through the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC).
