(Dec. 17, 2021) – Today, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement regarding the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) recommendation that barriers be installed in seven dams along the Tennessee River to help prevent the spread of Asian carp: “Invasive Asian carp are a threat to our ecosystem, commercial fishing industry, recreational sportfishing and property values. These proposed barriers will help protect these assets that are crucial East Tennessee’s economic health. Advocacy by local stakeholders, especially the Tellico Village Property Owners Association, helped make TVA’s recommendation possible. I look forward to working with our community, TVA and my colleagues in Congress to make these barriers a reality.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

Todd 2021-12-16 2021 2021-12 Republican House TN David Kustoff K000392 kustoff.house.gov kustoff https://kustoff.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. David Kustoff (TN-08) introduced a bill to name the courthouse in Jackson, Tennessee after Judge James D. Todd. Through this legislation, the building utilized as a United States Courthouse located at 111 South Highland Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee will be known and designated as the "James D. Todd United States Courthouse." This measure is supported by every member of the U.S. House of Representatives in the Tennessee delegation. "A native Tennessean, Judge James Todd has dedicated his life to serving his community and country. For almost four decades, Judge Todd served as the District and Senior District Judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Nominated by President Ronald Reagan in June 1985 and confirmed by the Senate a month later on July 10th with no objection, he has worked tirelessly to improve and better our country," said Rep. David Kustoff. "I am just one of the many individuals who has been positively impacted by knowing and working with Judge Todd. I was privileged to have been sworn in by him in 2006 as I became the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee. He is a well-respected member of the judiciary and our community in West Tennessee. Now, after 36 years in this position, Roberta and I congratulate Judge Todd on his years of great work and dedicated service, and wish him every happiness in retirement. I am grateful to introduce this legislation to honor him, his wife Jeanie, their children, and the rest of his family." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

(Dec. 7, 2021) – Tonight, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement regarding his vote in support of the revised Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act: "The Democrats' original NDAA was filled with toxic policies. Those policies were removed, and I was proud to support this new version of the NDAA. It raises pay for our servicemembers, maintains military preparedness, ensures Taliban terrorists receive zero taxpayer dollars from the Department of Defense, and protects servicemembers from being dishonorably discharged if they choose not to get vaccinated. It is disappointing far left politics delayed the passage of this bill." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

Funding for projects include: $120.6 MILLION for Arnold Air Force Base construction projects. $25 MILLION for partnership programs the UT Space Institute participates in. $10 MILLION for UT Space Institute, Fort Campbell and Vanderbilt partnership program to create new military technology. $20 MILLION for IAMCI machine and advanced manufacturing projects at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. “We have attracted the best and the brightest in our state and it is necessary that we continue to expand on the advances AEDC, UTSI, Vanderbilt, Fort Campbell, ORNL and other entities in our great state have made,” said Rep. DesJarlais. Through countless negotiations, DesJarlais worked behind the scenes with his fellow Republican colleagues to remove a Red Flag Law provision in the bill that limited the Second Amendment rights of many gun-owning veterans. “The far-left liberals have been trying to add their anti-2nd Amendment agenda to this important legislation for several years, and I am pleased to work behind the scenes with reasonable-minded colleagues to remove these provisions in the past two years.” Some other highlights of the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act include: Authorization of a 2.7% pay increase for service members. The silicon metal produced at the West Tennessee plant will be supplied to major industrial consumers and used to manufacture silicon anode batteries, solar cells, semiconductors, and aluminum. "This project will create 140 new jobs and will bring competitive wages that will provide great employment opportunities for rural West Tennessee families. It boosts our defense topline by $25 billion, ensuring growth of 5%, to provide our military with the necessary resources and tools to defend our nation. The NDAA authorizes a 2.7% pay increase for servicemembers, extends military recruitment and retention bonuses and special pay authorities, and provides nearly $1.5 billion to improve servicemember family housing. It also authorizes funds to conduct counter-terrorism operations in Afghanistan, prohibits the Department of Defense (DoD) from providing any financial support to the Taliban, and prohibits the use of DoD funds to conduct research in China or with any entity controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. Many of the problematic provisions from the initial House version have been successfully taken out of this bill, such the requirement for women to register for the draft, and the "red flag" laws that unlawfully target law-abiding veteran gun owners by stripping their Second Amendment rights based on legal allegations that lack due process, reasonable suspicion, and probable cause. "The federal government's number one priority is to ensure the safety and security of the American people. This year's NDAA will provide the necessary resources to continue to rebuild our military's readiness, develop new technologies, and properly defend our nation," said Rep. David Kustoff. "Importantly, this legislation gives our brave servicemen and women a well-deserved 2.7 percent pay raise, supports servicemembers and their families, and holds the Biden Administration accountable over its disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. For over 60 years, Congress has come together to pass this critical legislation to ensure the safety and security of our nation. I look forward to this bill becoming law." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

This short-term continuing resolution (CR) provides funding only through February 18, 2022 and serves as a quick fix to fund the federal government. "A basic duty of Congress is to properly maintain the budget, and the funding deadline comes along at the same time every year. Yet time and time again, Congress fails to carry out its annual appropriations. Today, the House of Representatives passed yet another short-term continuing resolution that once again fails to address our nation's $29 trillion debt. Instead of focusing on working with Republicans on a responsible budget Democrats instead have chosen to recklessly focus on their big government tax and spending reconciliation bill. "Continuing resolutions are a bad way to govern that perpetuate the inability of Congress to properly fund the government and further add to our nation's reckless spending. As our national debt continues to soar, I am working to ensure a better fiscal future for all Tennesseans which is why I voted against H.R. 6119," said Representative Rose. U.S. Representative John Rose is currently serving his second term representing Tennessee's Sixth Congressional District and resides in Cookeville with his wife, Chelsea, and their two sons, Guy and Sam. The Sixth District includes Cannon, Clay, Coffee, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, Trousdale, White, and Wilson counties as well as portions of Cheatham and Van Buren counties. Representative Rose is an eighth-generation farmer, small business owner, and attorney, and currently serves on the Financial Services Committee. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

(Dec. 2, 2021) – On Wednesday, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) called for the creation of a national memorial garden to display statues of U.S. presidents that have been removed from state and local government buildings. In remarks on the House floor, Rep. Burchett said a national memorial garden would ensure these statues are respectfully preserved for public viewing. "Instead of taking up space in some storage or waste facility, statues of U.S. presidents that get removed from government buildings should go to a national memorial garden. That way they can still be viewed by people who want to see them and learn about those who led our country in the past," Rep. Burchett said on the House floor. "The far left can pretend all it wants these figures did not exist. But you cannot cancel history." Recently, Pastor Clarence Sexton of Temple Baptist Church shared with Rep. Burchett that he is willing to start a national memorial garden for presidential statues at Crown College in Powell, Tennessee, where he serves as president. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

"Chuck" Fleischmann F000459 fleischmann.house.gov fleischmann https://fleischmann.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Washington, DC - U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03), Rep. Norma Torres (CA-35), and U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (NJ) and Marsha Blackburn (TN) this week introduced the bipartisan, bicameral National Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Supply Chain Database Act. This legislation would establish a national database with information about the interconnectivity of manufacturers in the United States supply chain. The database would help prevent future supply chain disruptions by offering manufacturers key information as they make decisions on how to retool in critical areas to meet the demand for key products, such as defense supplies, food, and medical devices. "Over the last year, Tennesseans and Americans across our country have seen the fragility of our nation's supply chain. I am proud to help introduce this bipartisan, bicameral piece of legislation that will provide increased visibility into our domestic manufacturing supply chain system," said Congressman Fleischmann. "At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw to a devastating degree how vulnerable our supply chains are, especially for crucial goods like personal protective equipment. We also saw the good that was done when local businesses and small manufacturers stepped up to meet the challenge. This legislation will help patch those holes, prevent similar breakdowns, and create infrastructure for American small manufacturers to play a key role in future crises," said Congresswoman Torres. "And while a global public health crisis is an acute example of why strong supply chains are so critical, this isn't just important for times of emergency. When we can spot supply chain weaknesses before they reach American consumers, our entire economy is more stable. The database will greatly help the day-to-day operations for American manufacturers by better connecting them with opportunities and needs, which means more jobs and better pay in our communities." Rose Voices Concern About Soaring Inflation 2021-12-02 2021 2021-12 Republican House TN John W. Rose R000612 johnrose.house.gov johnrose https://johnrose.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON—Today, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) addressed the inflation crisis that is crushing Tennessee household financial budgets and harming businesses because of President Biden's reckless tax-and-spend agenda. The full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below: Mr. Speaker, our Thanksgiving celebration for this year is in the rearview mirror, but the rising inflation that drove dinner costs higher this year is sticking around for the Christmas season and will continue to crush household budgets into the new year. From the grocery store to the gas pump, Americans across the board are paying more for just about everything. No matter where any of us fall on the income ladder, none of us can escape paying more for less. However, lower income households and the elderly who are on fixed incomes will be hit hardest by the pain that inflation always inflicts. Just last month, the price of consumer goods rose 6.2 percent from the same time last year, with substantial double digit increases on grocery store staples like meat, poultry, fish, and even eggs. Nationwide, the average cost of a gallon of fuel is $3.41, roughly 50 percent higher than the same time last year. In Middle Tennessee, the constituents I represent are paying a whopping $3.10 for a gallon of gas compared to a $1.89 a year ago. So, what's driving this sky-rocketing inflation? Wasteful and increased federal spending that encourages workers to remain on the sidelines, supply-chain shortages, and transportation disruptions are to blame. Americans are not stupid. That's why a majority say that President Biden's multi-trillion-dollar, socialist tax-and-spend scheme will only make bad inflation even WORSE, not better. Thank you. I yield back. The full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below: Madame Speaker, Tennesseans and Americans throughout the country who are already hurting from higher prices, widespread shortages, and fewer choices believe President Biden's Build Back Better agenda will cause inflation to skyrocket even further. This social spending scam BREAKS President Biden's zero cost promise. Contrary to what President Biden and his Far-Left Democratic allies have consistently maintained, this bill is NOT fully paid for. In fact, it's not even close. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), it is expected to add $367 BILLION to the national debt. That's a massive amount of deficit spending that our children and grandchildren will have to pay back, but it doesn't even begin to tell the whole story. The Democrats used a long list of budgetary gimmicks to artificially lower the CBO scored deficit spending number of $367 BILLION. The highly respected Wharton School of Business performed their own expert analysis without the budget gimmicks, and they found that the actual amount of deficit spending from President Biden's socialist Build Back Better legislation will in fact add over $300 billion to the national debt. And Americans all across the country from all walks of life can sense how bad this bill is going to affect our economy and add to our already sky-high inflation rate. Democrat's Build Back Better bill is not just extraordinarily costly. It's also destructive. For example, it includes: Mass amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. An elimination of the Hyde Amendment, forcing taxpayers to involuntarily foot the bill for on-demand abortions during all parts of a pregnancy. Jackson Women's Health Organization, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) delivered remarks on the House Floor in support of Mississippi's pro-life law that is being challenged in the Court. This case centers on a law that bans abortion after 15-weeks and will determine whether or not a ban on pre-viability elective abortions and others like it violate the Constitution. The full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below: Madame Speaker, I ask unanimous consent to address the House for one minute and to revise and extend my remarks. Today, the United States Supreme Court will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a major pro-life case that focuses on protecting the unborn, not restricting the rights of women. Instead of prioritizing the abortion industry, we as a nation should be focused on prioritizing the sanctity of human life. As the father to two sons, Guy and Sam, I strongly believe life begins at conception and that an unborn child IS a human life. Thanks to modern medical advancement we know that: At 5 weeks, unborn babies have a heartbeat. At 10 weeks, unborn babies have developed arms and legs, as well as fingers and toes. At 12 weeks, unborn babies feel pain. At 15 weeks, unborn babies have a fully developed heart. This landmark case gives the Supreme Court a chance to correct the mistake it made nearly 50 years ago and the opportunity to acknowledge that the Constitution DOES PROTECT an unborn child's right to life. After voting "no" on H.R. 5376, the so called "Build Back Better Act", Representative Rose released the following statement: "Democrats are determined to pass all 2,100-pages of their massive tax and spend bill that will turn the American dream into a socialist nightmare. This spending bill is a litany of longstanding socialist policies that promise to expand government control and spending on everything from childcare to health care to the cars we drive. "It will be America's middle-class families that foot the bill for Democrats' multi-trillion-dollar giveaway through crippling tax increases. This massive package will not deliver opportunity or economic relief. Instead, it leaves rural America behind and will accelerate inflation, discourage work, and empower Washington bureaucrats. "I ran for Congress because I am worried about the country we are going to leave to my sons, Guy and Sam, and to the children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren of every Tennessean. I cannot in good conscience support a proposal that will mortgage their future and imperil their freedom and liberty,"said Rep. Rose. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

David Kustoff (TN-08), Rick Crawford (AR-01), and Steve Cohen (TN-09), introduced the Improving Chassis Capacity for Memphis' Supply Chain Act. This legislation addresses the shortage of chassis, which are special trailers used to transport shipping containers. It directs the Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOT) to issue a request for a private company to develop an operating model for a shared chassis pool at or near the rail ramps in Memphis, Tennessee. This bill gives the private sector an opportunity to provide recommendations based on stakeholders' experiences to improve the flow of freight throughout the United States. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Roger Wicker (R-MS) introduced identical legislation in the U.S. Senate. "The Memphis region, known as America's Distribution Center, plays a critical role in the movement of freight and goods across the country and globe. Unfortunately, the United States is currently experiencing serious supply chain disruptions. One of the primary causes of this crisis is due to the lack of chassis needed to move containers from ports and rail facilities. This not only slows the flow of freight, but it also increases the cost of products for shippers and consumers in Tennessee and across our nation," said Rep. Kustoff. "My bill will encourage collaboration between logistics stakeholders to help modernize chassis provisioning and increase freight capacity. More importantly, it will allow the private sector to step into this process and help enhance the movement of freight in the Memphis region. I thank Senator Blackburn for joining me in introducing this much needed legislation, and I look forward to its quick passage." These new term limits would not apply to members of Congress holding office on the day the amendment is ratified. "Many U.S. House reps vocally support term limits but fail to act when the time comes," Rep. Burchett said. "I understand many sitting members do not want term limits to apply to them. Grandfathering these members allows commonsense term limits to take effect, retires entrenched political power brokers, and creates a Congress full of fresh ideas." Rep. The full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below: Madame Speaker, I ask unanimous consent to address the House for one minute and to revise and extend my remarks. Today, I stand here—in the People's House—entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring taxpayers' hard-earned dollars are spent appropriately and with the proper oversight in place. Yet, this week, House Democrats are pushing to ram through their fatally flawed, partisan multi-trillion-dollar tax -and-spend package, which uses taxpayer dollars and billions of dollars in borrowed money to fund their ultra-liberal domestic spending priorities. The gigantic $3.5 trillion bill was cut down to $1.75 trillion… which is still A LOT. What's in the $1.75 trillion tax and spend spree? -Amnesty for illegal immigrants. -Billions for "Tree Equity." -Tax hikes on job creators and working Americans. -Universal child care. And it doesn't end there. The Democrats' package leaves out funding for the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Democrats have gone so far as to break over 40 years of tradition by stripping the Hyde Amendment—a longstanding, bipartisan provision that prevents taxpayer dollars from being used to fund abortions—from their package. Democrats' tax and spend spree will only defraud the American taxpayer through wasteful spending and stick middle-class families with higher taxes and lower wages. My point is simple: I will advocate against controversial policies and proposed spending levels that short-change our national defense and irresponsibly provide huge increases to domestic spending. The American people expect us to work out an agreement—it's our job. So, let's work collectively on a deal. I yield back. To watch the ful… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

David Kustoff (TN-08) voted against the Democrats' massive tax-and-spend reconciliation package, also known as the Build Back Better Act (H.R. 5376). This bill includes a job-killing minimum 15% corporate tax rate making the U.S. less competitive around the world, grants mass amnesty to illegal immigrants, and significantly expands the IRS. Further, it weakens our domestic energy independence, expands Obamacare subsidies, and gets rid of the lifesaving Hyde Amendment, allowing taxpayer dollars to be used to fund abortions. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates this bill will add $367 billion to the federal deficit over 10 years. "Today's massive social spending bill defines President Joe Biden's radical agenda. It is filled with far-left provisions that would push companies to move their production and their jobs overseas, hurt hardworking American families, and cripple our small businesses. With inflation already at a 30-year high, this bill will leave severe and lasting consequences on our nation's economy," said Rep. Kustoff. The speech comes as skyrocketing inflation continues to cost Tennesseans at the pump, at the grocery store, and in their monthly bills. Full Remarks: This week, President Biden signed into law the one trillion dollar "Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act," which focuses more on pushing Democrats' far-left socialist policies than on America's crumbling infrastructure needs. The signing of this bill comes on the heels of Democrats' reckless taxing-and-spending spree and senseless policies that have created an economic crisis of monumental proportions. As the Biden administration takes a victory lap, the American people are in no mood to celebrate. Inflation is at a 30-year high, as prices on almost everything are more now than at this same time last year. Gas is up 49%. Beef is up 20%. Home heating bills are up 28.1%. Under the Biden administration, working families are getting crushed. Increased costs at the grocery store and the gas pump, and higher home heating bills are squeezing Americans dry. Skyrocketing inflation is driving down real wages for hardworking middle-class families and forcing those living on fixed budgets to make ends meet with fewer dollars. Instead of addressing the root cause of inflation—which for the record is largely caused by out-of-control government spending—House Democrats are continuing to push their sweeping 1.75 trillion dollar Build Back Better Act. This package would once again hand out cash to households and create new paid leave benefits with no expectation of work. However, an engaged workforce is key to invigorating economic recovery and slowing inflation. Make no mistake: Wasteful and increased spending by Democrats, much of which is being funded by even more borrowed money, won't slow inflation—it will supercharge it. Full Remarks: Thank you, Mr. Chair.Ten months into the Biden administration and crisis defines this presidency. Since President Biden took office, we've faced crisis after crisis, not the least of which is at our southern border. Right now, the United States is experiencing the highest number of attempted illegal border crossings in 21 years. Some 1.7 million people were apprehended attempting to enter the U.S. illegally in the 2021 fiscal year, ending September 30th, which is a new record. Over 164,300 attempted to cross just in October. That is a 128% increase from last October. Since March 20th, 95,000 illegal immigrants were released with "Notices to Report," on their honor. President Biden recently announced a hotly debated approach to limiting the spread of COVID-19: mandating vaccinations for federal workers, federal contract workers, healthcare workers, and anyone who works for a private business with over 100 employees. But take a guess as to who is not included in this widespread vaccine mandate— illegal immigrants. While President Biden blames American citizens for the increase in COVID cases, he refuses to call out the record number of illegal immigrants entering the United States from COVID hotspots around the world, who are potentially contributing to the spread of new and dangerous variants of the virus, like the Delta, Lambda, and Mu strains. On September 20th, when White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about this double standard, she is quoted as saying illegal migrants didn't need to comply because "they are not intending to stay." What a laughable statement. Once again, we are seeing the Biden administration choosing to put the interests of illegal immigrants above the interests of the American people. Lee Zeldin (NY-01), and over 100 other colleagues introduced the Upholding the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Law Act of 2021. This legislation prohibits the use of funds for any diplomatic facility in Jerusalem other than the United States Embassy to Israel. The U.S., under the Trump Administration, fully implemented the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 by officially and formally recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's unequivocal capital in 2017, relocating the U.S. Embassy to Israel to its rightful place in Jerusalem in 2018, and merging the previous consulate general to the Palestinians into the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem in 2019. Now, President Biden and his administration have signaled their intent to reopen a U.S. consulate in Jerusalem that would provide separate diplomatic outreach to the Palestinians. This proposal, which Israel made clear it opposes, would go against the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, and facilitate the division of Jerusalem. As such, the Biden Administration must respect Israel's opposition and stop pursuing this misguided effort. This legislation was recently introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and is supported by the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), and Faith & Freedom Coalition. "Let me be clear: Jerusalem is and will always remain the eternal capital of the State of Israel. The Biden Administration's proposal to reopen a U.S. consulate to the Palestinians in Jerusalem would be inconsistent with the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 that specifically supported Jerusalem remaining an undivided city and recognized as the capital of Israel," said Rep. Rose R000612 johnrose.house.gov johnrose https://johnrose.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON—On Friday, November 5th, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) released the following statement after voting against the 2,740-page Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which focuses more on pushing Democrats' Far-Left socialist policies, than on America's crumbling infrastructure needs. "I support funding to repair our roads and bridges, expanding rural broadband, and modernizing our water and sewer systems. But this bill goes well beyond funding infrastructure improvements all while failing to address the red tape that burdens Tennessee and other states and slows down projects. "Democrats are bent on spending massively to enact their socialist policies and paving the way for the destructive reconciliation bill that will change our economy, our nation, and our fiscal future—for the worse. I voted against this bill because we can meet our country's funding needs without jeopardizing our economic recovery and saddling future generations with more debt," said Rep. Rose. The Congressional Budget Office found that the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act would widen the federal budget deficit by $256 billion over the 2021-2031 period. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

(Nov. 5, 2021) – Tonight, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 3684: "Speaker Pelosi is no longer fit to run the House of Representatives after wasting hours of valuable floor time this week. Instead of scheduling votes to demagnetize our southern border or bring back American energy independence, Pelosi brought up this sloppy and expensive infrastructure measure. The only thing that is bipartisan about this bill is the name. It completely ignores infrastructure needs in purple and red states, but finances woke environmental priorities in big Democrat cities. Congress missed a real opportunity to deliver results to the entire country, and I voted against this fraudulent legislation that treats Tennessee like flyover country." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

(Nov. 4, 2021) – Today, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett introduced the Keeping Our COVID-19 Heroes Employed Act. Reps. Clay Higgins (LA-03), Brian Mast (FL-18), Mark E. Green, M.D. (TN-07), Jeff Duncan (SC-03), Ashley Hinson (IA-01), Kat Cammack (FL-03), Barry Moore (AL-02), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02), Tom Tiffany (WI-07), Michael Guest (MS-03), Randy Weber (TX-14), Ralph Norman (SC-05), and Ben Cline (VA-06) are original cosponsors of Rep. Burchett's legislation. Rep. Burchett's legislation would protect any individual who was deemed as essential during the COVID-19 pandemic from termination under President Biden's vaccine mandate. This includes Americans employed by the federal government, private entities that receive federal funds, and public entities that received funding from any of the six coronavirus response bills passed by Congress. It also would exempt public and private federal contractors from the mandate. "Federal bureaucrats want to punish any American who disobeys Big Brother Biden's vaccine mandate," Rep. Burchett said. "Individuals must decide for themselves on taking the coronavirus vaccine without government threats to their livelihoods if they do not get the shot. Biden's vaccine mandate will make our country's labor shortages worse, especially in essential services like public safety and health care." Earlier today, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced new vaccination rules for employers with 100 or more employees. Original cosponsors of Rep. Burchett's legislation released the following statements after the Keeping Our COVID-19 Heroes Employed Act was introduced. "For eighteen months, essential workers literally put their lives on the line to keep the shelves stocked and took care of the sick. Now, Joe Biden is repaying them by threatening to take away their jobs," Rep. Mast said. "That's unacceptable. The bill prohibits the Department of Labor (DOL) from using federal funds to develop, administer, or enforce any rule that requires COVID-19 vaccination. "President Biden's COVID-19 vaccine mandate is a clear government overreach and will further only politicize the vaccine, increase hesitancy, drive more people out of the workforce, and crush small businesses struggling to make ends meet," said Congressman Fleischmann. "Tennesseans and Americans across our nation are dealing with skyrocketing inflation, falling wages, the worst supply chain crisis in recent memory, and higher costs for gas and electricity as winter rapidly approaches. The Biden Administration and Congress should be working to fix the problems that affect Americans' everyday lives and not burdening people with more federal overreach." The No Vaccine Mandate Act is cosponsored by 17 Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee, including Ranking Member Kay Granger (R-TX) and Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK), the top Republican on the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education subcommittee. "While text of the Build Back Better Act is not yet finalized, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi indicated she is ready to schedule the bill for a vote in the House of Representatives," the members wrote to CBO Director Phillip Swagel. "This bill is long, expensive, will fundamentally alter social programs and tax structures in our country. It is essential that each member of Congress have a complete and full understanding of such an expansive piece of legislation prior to voting on it. Members need to make informed decisions on behalf of their constituents." Rep. Burchett released the following statement after he sent this letter to the CBO: "Here's what we know: President Biden's Build Back Better Act is thousands of pages long, costs trillions, and is designed to expand government's role in American society," Rep. Burchett said. "What we don't know are the economic, tax, and fiscal impacts of this massive legislation. It is irresponsible for any member of Congress to support the Build Back Better Act without a nonpartisan report from the CBO. David Kustoff (TN-08) spoke on the U.S. House Floor about his bipartisan bill, the NCAA Accountability Act. This bill protects universities and student-athletes by reforming the NCAA's infractions process. Click here to watch his full floor speech. Full Speech: Thank you, M. Speaker, Today, I rise to speak about something that plays a special role in American life – this is college athletics. College sports is engrained in our culture, and its impact is far reaching on student athletes, alumni and their fans. For decades, college athletics have been governed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association – commonly known as the NCAA. The NCAA has tremendous power, really omnipotent power, over college athletics. The NCAA decides the rules of play, who gets to play, and who gets the revenue. The NCAA investigates and penalizes any school, coach, or student athlete that it claims infringes on its rules. This is what the NCAA calls the "infractions process." Let me be clear. The NCAA's infractions process is systemically and fundamentally flawed. The NCAA's rules are vague, constantly changing, and irregularly enforced. The NCAA's investigations lack transparency, established procedures, and are performed while universities are kept in the dark. Fundamentally, there is no due process for member schools nor their students. The NCAA investigations can last years and cost universities millions of dollars in legal fees and other expenses. Finally, the NCAA punishes universities and student-athletes with no consistency or predictability. The NCAA may decide to punish one school, but not another. Without a doubt, the NCAA acts with little regard for fairness, due process, or transparency. Through its monopolistic power and lack of oversight, the NCAA has caused irreparable damage to athletic departments, colleges and universities across the nation. This is why I am introducing the NCAA Accountability Act with my colleagues Representatives Burgess Owens and Josh Harde… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

"Today, for the third Congress in a row, the House in a wide bipartisan vote, passed my bill to return 76 acres of sacred land in Monroe County to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians; righting a terrible wrong when their land was forcibly taken from them by the federal government," said Rep. Fleischmann. "The Cherokee People have a long, rich history on these lands, and it is the place where Cherokees have honored the birth and life of Sequoyah, one of the most influential and important Native Americans in history. I am humbled and thankful to play a part in ensuring the story of the Eastern Band is preserved and taught to future generations. I thank Principal Chief Sneed for his support and advocacy in getting this legislation to where it is today. I hope my colleagues in the Senate recognize the importance of Cherokee tribal land preservation and act quickly to move H.R. 2088 through their chamber and on to President Biden's desk." "Sequoyah was a statesman, diplomat, and seminal leader who contributed so much to help the Cherokee people. We look forward to protecting and preserving this monument to his legacy for generations to come," said Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed. In detail, H.R. 2088, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Historic Lands Reacquisition Act, will: Impact 76 acres of specified lands along the Little Tennessee River and Tellico Reservoir in Monroe County; Include lands from the Tanasi Memorial, Chota Memorial, Sequoyah Museum, and land to administer support for these cultural programs and properties; Place these lands into trust for the benefit of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. David Kustoff (TN-08), Josh Harder (CA-10), and Burgess Owens (UT-04) introduced the bipartisan NCAA Accountability Act. This bill establishes due process protections for universities and individuals under investigation by the NCAA for rule infractions. "The NCAA's infractions process is systemically flawed. The NCAA writes the rules, enforces the rules, and punishes universities at will. Essentially, the NCAA acts as the prosecutor, judge, jury, and executioner over college athletics. This unchecked authority and exploitative behavior has ruined careers, harmed the U.S. education system, and caused great economic damage to local communities," said Rep. Kustoff. "The NCAA offers its members little due process protections. Its rules are irregularly enforced, and its investigations lack established procedures. Further, the NCAA punishes universities inconsistently and unpredictably. My bill, the NCAA Accountability Act, provides protection for universities and student-athletes in the form of due process, transparency, and fairness during enforcement proceedings. I look forward to the quick passage of this important bill." "Our Central Valley student athletes compete at the highest level of college sports and make our whole community proud," said Rep. Harder. "This bill will do right by them, their coaches, and their universities. It's time we deliver them the protections they deserve." "The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has long wielded unchecked and unfair disciplinary power over America's student-athletes, coaches, and universities," said Rep. Owens. "The NCAA Accountability Act is a commonsense charge to level the playing field by eliminating favoritism and bias in college athletics through increased due process protections and transparency in rule enforcement." (Oct. 29, 2021) -- On Saturday, Oct. 30, U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) will attend a Silver Star presentation ceremony for U.S. Army Specialist Four Gerald McGinnis at Park West Church in Knoxville, Tenn. "Sheltering in a war-torn Vietnam bunker on March 22, 1968, Spc. McGinnis' back was against the wall," Rep. Burchett said. "In that desperate moment, he fought off North Vietnamese Army attackers in defense of three wounded American soldiers in his bunker. Spc. McGinnis deserves the Silver Star for his heroism that day and it will be an honor to attend this ceremony." Rep. Burchett will deliver remarks on Spc. McGinnis' military service and read the medal citation for the Silver Star. Retired military leaders will also be on hand for Spc. McGinnis' Silver Star ceremony. Admiral Ray Alexander will lead the invocation and Major General Max Haston will present the Silver Star to Spc. McGinnis. Background on Specialist Four Gerald McGinnis An enlisted man in the U.S. Army, Spc. McGinnis was assigned to Company C in the 3rd Battalion of the 8th Infantry Regiment during the Vietnam War. In the early morning hours of March 22, 1968, his base was attacked by approximately 1,500 North Vietnamese Army soldiers. The bunker next to Spc. McGinnis' bunker was destroyed by enemy artillery fire. American soldiers inside that bunker were either critically injured or killed. Three of these injured soldiers were relocated to Spc. McGinnis' bunker for safety. Spc. McGinnis defended these men for the remainder of the battle, preventing the North Vietnamese from overrunning the base in the process. Following his military service, Spc. McGinnis obtained a theological education and settled in Knoxville. He founded Park West Church in 1980, where he continues to serve as pastor and director of leadership development. In 2016, Spc. McGinnis was awarded the Bronze Star for his brave actions in Vietnam. Full Remarks: Mr. Speaker, I ask unanimous consent to address the House for one minute. This fall, along with the cooler temperatures autumn always brings, Tennesseans and Americans all across the country will be subjected to record breaking prices to heat our homes. Under the Biden administration, costs for natural gas, the most common resource for heating our homes, have skyrocketed. With inflation at a 30-year high, families are already stretched thin as they pay more at the grocery store and at the gas pump, but it doesn't stop there. Families are now expected to pay more in energy costs to heat their homes—as much as 54% for some households—for the fall and winter months. Rather than confronting this bourgeoning energy crisis before it's too late, President Biden and Democrats are proposing disastrous energy policies that are bad for the economy, bad for national security, and bad for Americans. Included in their MORE THAN $5 trillion social spending agenda is a natural gas tax and bans on domestic energy and mineral production, which will cause us to obtain these vital resources from OPEC, Russia, and even China. As Democrats continue to push their tax-and-spend agenda, it is middle-and low-income families who will be hit the hardest by their Far-Left energy policies. President Biden must act now to avert this impending energy crisis. I yield back. To watch the full speech, click here. David Kustoff (R-TN) and Ed Perlmutter (D-CO) introduced bipartisan legislation to modernize the real estate appraisal licensing system. The Portal for Appraisal Licensing Act establishes a nationwide licensing system for real estate appraisers that will improve the appraisal regulatory structure, reduce cost, and eliminate red tape. It would also work with state appraiser regulatory agencies to streamline license management and establish consistent license application and renewal procedures for appraiser continuing education requirements and background checks in certain states. "The Portal for Appraisal Licensing Act will eliminate red tape for appraisal licensing by creating a one-stop shop for renewing licenses and certifications," said Rep. Kustoff. "This bipartisan legislation is a commonsense approach to modernize an outdated system that has caused West Tennessee businesses increased costs and a lack of quality appraiser availability." "The pandemic and unprecedented demand in the real estate market have put a great deal of strain on the appraisal industry. Appraisers face increased regulatory obligations and compliance costs that put undue pressure on the industry and particularly small businesses," said Perlmutter. "This bill helps to eliminate some of this red tape and regulatory burden by modernizing and streamlining the licensing system while making it easier for appraisers to continue their education and keep up with industry trends." The Federal regulatory structure for real estate appraisal essentially has been untouched since the enactment of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA). Since that time, the marketplace has changed, including numerous technological advancements and current demands in the real estate market. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

Biden putting the administration on notice that some Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) employees are expressing their intent to resign or retire over the September 9, 2021, executive order mandating all federal employees be vaccinated. DesJarlais highlights in the letter the importance of the TVA workforce and the mission critical infrastructure they provide. “Take for example, the seven nuclear units TVA operates. It goes without argument that the jobs at these plants are not only critical to our infrastructure but the impact of operations being run short-staffed or with staff that is not properly trained would be disastrous. TVA nuclear facilities are already experiencing a labor shortage. If even a small percentage of the current employees at TVA nuclear plants resigned or retired, the plant operations would be unable to function.” The Tennessee congressman requested that the following criteria be deemed compliant with the president’s executive order: Positive antibody test showing prior infection of COVID-19 COVID-19 test every fourth day for employees who cannot prove immunity against COVID-19 through antibody testing and chose not to become fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by either Receiving two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Receiving one dose of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine Congressman DesJarlais concluded the letter with emphasizing TVA employees are highly skilled and trained making them unable to replace quickly. “The nature of their specialized training will make these employees nearly impossible to replace, and we urge that you continue to work with TVA leadership to ensure they have options available to them to maintain operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Co-signers of the letter include: Rep. This legislation will overturn President Biden’s recent Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) policy that restricts hospitals and other health facilities from ordering monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatments to treat COVID-19 symptoms directly from manufacturers to meet local demand. “It’s completely unacceptable that the Biden administration is playing politics with people’s lives,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “The TREAT Act will rightly undo the Biden administration’s COVID-19 treatment rationing scheme by federal bureaucrats, and make sure Tennesseans and folks in other states have sufficient access to these effective and life-saving treatments. “I’ve heard from doctors and patients in East Tennessee about reports of shortages since this new federal take-over started in early September. These shortages result in delays getting these drugs to providers and patients. These COVID-19 treatments save lives and keep them out of hospitals. We need to put a stop to HHS’ rationing system that contradicts health needs across the country. Whoever needs a treatment, I’m committed to working tirelessly with Tennessee officials and my congressional colleagues to get treatments to those who need them.” Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are laboratory-made proteins that stimulate the immune system so someone can fight off a COVID-19 infection. The goal of this therapy is to help prevent hospitalizations, reduce viral loads, and lessen symptom severity. Monoclonal antibody treatments can be given by a shot or an IV infusion. Joining Congresswoman Harshbarger in introducing the bill are Representatives Scott DesJarlais (R-TN), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN), John Rose (R-TN), Brian Babin (R-TX), Bill Posey (R-FL), Chip Roy (R-TX), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Scott Perry (R-PA), Kat Cammack (R-FL), Brian Mast (… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

"TFBF is the largest Farm Bureau in America and is the collective voice for farmers in Nashville and Washington. Every member of the Tennessee Congressional delegation relies on TFBF to one extent or another to stay tuned into what challenges and opportunities exist for 21st century farmers. The importance of Farm Bureau for agriculture cannot be overstated." "We are honored Congressman Rose and the Tennessee House Delegation are recognizing Tennessee Farm Bureau's 100th anniversary," said TFBF President Jeff Aiken. "We appreciate the resolution and thank them for their support of our century-year old organization, and even more so, their support of the farmers and rural people we have served for the past 100 years. As we step into the next 100 years, we look forward to working together to ensure the voice of agriculture remains strong in Tennessee." "I'm thankful for the century of work that the Tennessee Farm Bureau has done to ensure policymakers understand the needs of Tennessee farmers. Rose R000612 johnrose.house.gov johnrose https://johnrose.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON—Tonight, U.S. Representative John Rose (TN-6) delivered remarks on the House Floor advocating for security and enforcement at the southern border as apprehensions reach a 21-year high. The full speech, as prepared for delivery, is below: The fight to restore law and order and secure our southern border continues. Border apprehensions remain at a two-decade high, as the Department of Homeland Security warns officials to prepare for roughly 400,000 illegal migrants to cross the border this month. President Biden is more committed to ending President Trump's policies that successfully slowed the surge of illegal crossings than he is to secure our border. The cartels and human smugglers have taken notice of our weakened position and are more than willing to exploit these changes for their financial benefit. Meanwhile, those who are understandably seeking opportunity and a better future are being coached to gain entrance to the U.S. by claiming asylum. As a result of our open southern border and the refusal by the Biden administration to detain the majority of those we encounter, more than a million illegal immigrants are expected to be brought into the interior of the United States this year with taxpayers footing the bill. The desperate situation at the southern border calls for urgent action. Instead, House Democrats are determined to use the budget reconciliation process to pass amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants. This type of thinking, if turned into law, will have staggering consequences for our nation. Widespread illegal immigration is detrimental, not only to Americans and our families, but to our nation, and even the migrants themselves. As one of the representatives in Congress for Middle Tennessee, I have the responsibility to safeguard our sacred freedoms. But if we cannot control our borders, how can we defend our sovereignty as a nation? That's why I am fighting to restore law and order at the southern border. This bill requires Federal agencies to take into account naturally acquired immunity from previous COVID-19 infection when issuing any rules or regulations aimed at protecting from COVID-19. “I introduced this bill today because the Biden Administration must ‘follow the science’ and be open, honest and transparent about the millions of Americans who have natural immunity against the COVID-19 virus,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “There’s ample scientific evidence from numerous peer-reviewed studies that natural immunity from previous COVID-19 infection is effective, durable and long-lasting. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has already acknowledged natural immunity for measles, chickenpox, and many other viruses. “I’ve always said we need to use all the clinical tools as protection and treatment options to combat COVID-19. However, my bill is a necessary and timely legislative action resulting from President Biden’s continued politicization of COVID-19 which continues to create deep divisions among Americans, such as when he chillingly said his national vaccine mandate requirements are ‘not about freedom or personal choice.’ Now more than ever, we need to pursue every scientific measure — such as natural immunity — that can help mitigate the pandemic without threatening people’s jobs, our economy, or denying Americans access to everyday life activities based on COVID-19 vaccination status.” Original co-sponsors include Representatives Daniel Webster (R-FL), Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), Chris Stewart (R-UT), Bill Posey (R-FL), Mary Miller (R-IL), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Dan Bishop (R-NC), Mo Brooks (R-AL), Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), and Chip Roy (R-TX). “Too many medical leaders are refusing to publicly recognize what overwhelming data has already shown - protection afforded to individuals with natural immunity is real, robust and durable,” said Congressman Dani… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

(Oct. 14, 2021) -- Yesterday, U.S. Representatives Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Cheri Bustos (IL-17) introduced legislation to stand up for workers and consumers by ending abusive executive bonuses during corporate bankruptcies. First introduced in 2019, the No Bonuses in Bankruptcy Act of 2021 is an updated version of the legislation that reflects the recommendations of a recently released GAO Report. The report found a widespread practice of corporations paying outrageous bonuses to executives right before or during bankruptcy. "Executives who oversee the financial collapse of an entire business need to be held accountable for destroying jobs instead of rewarded with a fat payout," Rep. Burchett said. "The No Bonuses in Bankruptcy Act would prohibit failed executives from walking away with cushy bonuses during their business's bankruptcy proceedings." "Executives shouldn't financially reward themselves for laying off workers and closing facilities," Rep. Bustos said. "Bankrupt companies paying bonuses to highly-paid corporate executives and insiders, all while thousands of hardworking Americans lose their jobs is appalling. That's why I'm proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation with Congressman Burchett today, which also incorporates the recommendations of my recently-commissioned report from the Government Accountability Office." "This is about what's right – you shouldn't be able to cash out after running your company into the ground and risking the livelihoods of working people." The Burchett-Bustos bipartisan, common-sense bill would prevent companies that file for bankruptcy from rewarding highly paid employees and company insiders with fiscally irresponsible bonuses. The No Bonuses in Bankruptcy Act of 2021 would: Ensure bankrupt companies cannot pay a bonus during bankruptcy to employees making $250,000 a year or more. Include a claw back clause to allow the U.S. Trustee to take back bonuses made six months before bankruptcy if either the bonus would not have otherwise been al… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

Ashley Hinson (IA-01), to prohibit a rule in Congressional Democrats' upcoming partisan $4 trillion reconciliation bill that would dramatically increase surveillance on Americans' bank accounts by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The proposed rule would mandate banks, credit unions, and other financial service providers to report transactions of $600 or greater. Currently, financial institutions are only required to disclose cash transactions of $10,000 or more to the Department of the Treasury. "Forcing financial institutions to turn over records of all Americans' transactions of $600 or more violates the financial privacy of every American and will only increase IRS harassment of working-Americans and businesses. DesJarlais asked Secretary Austin why billions of dollars in United States military equipment was left behind in Afghanistan knowing the Afghan Army would fall following the U.S. troop withdrawal. Austin said that the reason equipment was that America “wanted them to be successful.” Rep. DesJarlais fired back at Austin, “If they’re [the Afghan Army] watching these hearings yesterday and today I’m guessing that they probably feel like they were played as fools because you all just said you knew they were going to fail. So here we have an army we built up we used them until we didn’t need them anymore to accomplish Biden’s objective and Trump’s objective of getting out of Afghanistan it went horribly wrong as we can all probably agree to.” Congressman DesJarlais had Milley on the hot seat when questioning him on comments he made to Speaker Pelosi and China on President Trump’s mental competency. The Tennessee congressman made reference to a “blunt” phone call General Milley had with Speaker Pelosi in January 2021 regarding her fears of President Trump maintaining control of nuclear weapons. “In a transcript obtained from CNN Political, Woodward and Costa quoted Pelosi as saying, and this is to you, What I’m saying to you is that they couldn’t even stop him from an assault on the capitol who even knows what else he may do and is there anybody in charge at the White House who was doing anything but kissing his fat butt all over this.” Milley was asked by Congressman DesJarlais if he recalled this specific conversation. This bill requires DHS to provide a public daily report of all DHS headquarters and component contract awards over $4 million dollars and will give Congress and the American people better insight and oversight into how DHS supports its mission. “Today, I have delivered on my promise to play a part in holding the Biden administration accountable on their self-inflicted border crisis,” said Congresswoman Harshbarger. “The DHS Contract and Reporting Act will require transparent reporting on contract awards granted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security so we taxpayers know how our federal tax dollars are being spent. This is important given the disturbing lack of transparency by Biden’s DHS on where migrants are going once they’re released into the United States, including those here in Tennessee. With greater transparency comes greater accountability. The Biden Administration must stop acting in secrecy.” This bill is the first sponsored by Congresswoman Harshbarger, a freshman, to pass the House of Representatives. It requires DHS to include key information on these contracts such as: the total estimated dollar amount to be spent, whether DHS awarded the contract competitively, what company won the contract, and where the work will be performed. Text of the bill can be found here. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

The event was open to middle and high school students interested in learning more about the appointment process to four of the five United States Service Academies including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. Students had the opportunity to hear directly from representatives of several of these prestigious academies, as well as recruiters from Tennessee State University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and Vanderbilt University Army ROTC and learn what a path to military service looks like. "One of the top honors I have in Congress is to provide nominations for the brightest and boldest students wishing to serve our nation in uniform by attending one of the five U.S. Service Academies," said Representative Rose. "I was pleased with the number of young people who took advantage of this opportunity to meet with several academy representatives and ROTC units from Tennessee universities about the possibility of attending one of these institutions and earning a commission as an officer in our military." This investment, which is the largest in the state's history, will result in the creation of 5,800 new jobs in West Tennessee. Further, this project is anticipated to contribute $3.5 billion each year to Tennessee's gross state product. "Today is a truly remarkable day for West Tennessee and the entire region. Ford's investment in the Megasite will bring in thousands of jobs and will reshape West Tennessee's economy for generations to come. I would like to thank Governor Bill Lee and his economic development team for their hard work in securing this investment. The Department of Health and Human Services made changes to the policy just days after President Biden announced multiple executive orders for vaccination mandates. DesJarlais told Breitbart News Network, “This letter is to put HHS on notice that this policy change has the potential to prevent countless of Americans from receiving the lifesaving monoclonal antibody treatment. My question is, if the seven states targeted included California, New York, and Delaware, would there have been a policy change? These states fell victim to the Biden administration’s callous attitude towards the deaths of Americans living in Red states.” Representative DesJarlais and Carter write in the letter, “Overnight, our healthcare providers were made aware that they may run out of mAbs, at a time of heightened demand, as states will need to sift through layers of bureaucracy and contracting in order to safely and accurately distribute the lifesaving treatment. Many states do not have the infrastructure in place to take on this unnecessary challenge amidst a spike in COVID-19 cases and will likely need to spend scarce state resources to contract solutions. This type of change is ill advised and will lead to significant delays that will limit patient access to mAb treatment in many states.” They made it clear to Secretary Becerra that while they are grateful for President Trump’s successful execution of Operation Warp Speed to expedite the creation and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, that Americans cannot be completely reliant on the vaccination. They wrote, “(…) therapeutics remain a crucial weapon in our fight against this virus, and this order threatens our constituents’ access to some of the most effective available options. Knauss grew up where I live currently in Corryton, Tennessee. He always dreamed of joining the American military and did so after graduating from Gibbs High School. When the Taliban rapidly took control of Afghanistan last month, it created a dangerous situation for American citizens and our allies in the country. In response, our military ramped up its presence at Hamid Karzai International Airport to assist with evacuation efforts. Staff Sgt. Representative DesJarlais writes in the letter, “As you are aware, this lifesaving COVID-19 treatment, which was granted Emergency Use Authorization by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has been shown to significantly reduce hospitalizations and deaths among coronavirus patients. The antibodies mimic the body’s immune response, and treatment is most effective within 10 days of symptom onset. Con. Res. 14, the budget reconciliation bill for Fiscal Year 2022. Democratic leadership pushed lawmakers to hold a hearing on S. Con. Res. 14 less than 24 hours after receiving the bill text. In Congressman DesJarlais’ opening statement on Friday, September 10, 2021, he expressed disdain for Democrats’ handling of the writing of the $66 BILLION bill with plans to add an additional $28 BILLION. “Unfortunately, the reconciliation process has been anything but thoughtful or collaborative. There has been no stakeholder involvement or discourse with constituents on this tremendous amount of money included in the bill—at a time when spending is truly out of control,” said the Tennessee congressman. DesJarlais offered Amendment 27 during Friday’s hearing that would cut overall spending in the bill by two-thirds. “This is the fiscally responsible thing to do when leadership jams us with an expensive incomplete bill that had zero stakeholder involvement. It is shameful that this committee would pass this partisan legislation crafted behind closed doors in a rushed and irregular process and without an understanding of the payfors,” said Rep. DesJarlais. Congressman DesJarlais noted that many of his constituents are worried about the potential negative economic impacts the bill carries. “My constituents are terrified of potential tax implications the broader reconciliation package needed to pay for this monstrosity of a spending bill,” he said. After nine hours of debate, the hearing adjourned right before voting on the bill’s passage from the House Agriculture Committee. Lawmakers were brought back on Monday just to vote on the legislation. “It is shameful that the majority party gave less than 24 hours to read the bill before beginning markups in the committee hearing. Federal workers are now faced with an impossible choice, get vaccinated or be fired. Employers of more than 100 people will be forced to either mandate the coronavirus vaccine or subject unvaccinated employees to weekly testing. Health care workers who are incredibly well versed on the vaccine pros and cons are being told they must be vaccinated or lose their job. All the while Afghan refugees or those crossing our border illegally are granted more medical freedom than our own United States citizens. President Biden also announced today that he is stripping states of their rights. Biden has made it clear that if states decide that they will ban mask mandates they will face legal action and federal government overrule. This is an egregious government overreach. Every American should have the opportunity to consult with their doctor to determine if the COVID-19 vaccine is the best choice for their personal health. President Trump led the way to expedite the creation and production of the vaccine through Operation Warp Speed. It was President Biden and Vice President Harris who began a disinformation campaign surrounding the vaccine. On September 16, 2020, President Biden said, “Americans have had to endure President Trump’s incompetence and dishonesty when it comes to testing and personal protective equipment. We can’t afford to repeat those fiascos when it comes to a vaccine.” Vice President Kamala Harris said on October 7, 2020, “But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it, I’m not taking it.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

I have always taken a strong stance against forced vaccines and introduced the No Vaccine Passports for Americans Act to prohibit the already overreaching federal government from requiring vaccine mandates and vaccine passports. I will continue to fight to ensure the protection of our civil liberties and well-established rights to privacy.” In June, Congresswoman Harshbarger introduced the No Vaccine Passports for Americans Act in the House of Representatives. This bill would prohibit any federal COVID-19 vaccine passport or similar system of tracking individuals for proof of vaccination and prohibit the United States from working with 3rd parties, such as airlines, to develop or impose these restrictions. The bill also implements a ban on government vaccine mandates for vaccines first authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) through Emergency Use Authorization and prohibits vaccine discrimination in employment, public accommodations, public transportation, or access to federal property. They clearly have no intention of moderating their extreme beliefs and methods of government, and the Biden Administration is foolishly trusting them to keep American citizens and allies safe. Burchett's legislation aims to protect the genetic information Americans share with genetic testing companies from being sold to entities affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). "It takes a great deal of trust for Americans to share their sensitive genetic information with DNA testing companies," Rep. Burchett said. "Selling this information to malicious foreign actors is a huge violation of trust and morally unacceptable. DNA testing companies must keep Americans' genetic information private so it isn't used against us by the Chinese Communist Party." Specifically, Rep. Burchett's legislation would: • Prohibit commercial DNA testing services from disclosing the genetic information of United States nationals to the CCP or entities affiliated with the CCP. • Direct the Federal Trade Commission to enforce this mandate and encourage compliance. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

We’ve seen President Biden censured in the British House of Commons, in Germany—the head of Chancellor Merkle’s conservative party and likely her successor called the U.S. withdrawal the biggest debacle that NATO has ever seen. Latvia’s Defense Minister said the U.S. withdrawal caused chaos and showed the west weaker globally. This is not the purpose of my amendment. However, there is another Biden proposal which could build unprecedented damage to our allies that are already showing concern and that is adopting a ‘sole purpose’ or ‘no first use’ nuclear declaratory policy. There isn’t a single ally that supports this shift in U.S. nuclear declaratory policy. And we’ve heard from the British, French, Germans, Poles, Japanese, and South Koreans that adopting such a policy would be devastating to U.S. alliances and erode our extended deterrent. I have questioned personally multiple commanders in this committee over the past year on this issue and I can’t recall a single person who supported no first use and that would include General Milley on June 23, 2021, who said, “My personal best military advice is to maintain all options to the president of the united states at all times so I would not recommend making a declaration of no first use.” Also, Admiral Richards quoted, “I see a no first use policy as degrading the nation’s deterrence. It will remove a level of ambiguity that has deterrence value.” My amendment would put in place a 90-day notification window and require the president to certify he has consulted with our allies before making any changes to U.S… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

It's been great for the young men and women; I've had tens of folks get into the academies, many are still serving…What a great source of optimism to see the young people come out and attend… It just shows a great way that we can serve our country." The council was conceived to promote fairness for pharmacists, especially local community pharmacists, when working with Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs). "The work I do on behalf of community pharmacists doesn't start in Washington, D.C.; it starts with the ideas of community pharmacists throughout the Sixth District," said Representative Rose. "I am proud to launch this advisory council, which will serve as an opportunity for pharmacists to share their experiences, provide insights on how to ease regulatory burdens, and play a critical role in driving change in Washington." The Sixth District Congressional Community Pharmacy Advisory Council held its inaugural meeting on Monday, August 30, 2021, in Cookeville. The advisory council will meet in person twice a year for the purpose of providing a legislative update and to listen to feedback and suggestions regarding additional important issues affecting pharmacists. The council represents the next step in Representative Rose's continued dedication to protecting community pharmacies. Reforming the onerous system of direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees that PMBs impose in an attempt to put independent pharmacies across the nation out of business is one of his top priorities. In addition to making it exceedingly difficult for independent pharmacies to continue successful operations, rising DIR fees are also a major cause for rising patient prescription copays. To fight this, Representative Rose and several colleagues introduced a bipartisan piece of legislation, H.R. 3554, the "Pharmacy DIR Reform to Reduce Senior Drug Costs Act." Representative Rose has also led the effort to write several bipartisan letters to the Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services that urge them to take action against these PBMs and finally implement meanin… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

Elections should be run at the state level, not by unelected federal bureaucrats who would be empowered to override commonsense election reforms like voter ID requirements. At a time when many Americans have lost faith in elections, another attempt at a partisan power grab is the wrong prescription for increasing election integrity. Instead, Congress should work on solutions to ensure our elections are fair, transparent, and that it is easier to vote legally and harder to cheat. Only this will restore the American people’s faith in our elections.” Congresswoman Harshbarger has consistently supported such reforms. In April, she co-sponsored H.R. 322, the Republican Study Committee’s Save Democracy Act, which would bring transparency to elections and restore election integrity. In June, she co-sponsored H.R. 93, the Eliminating Foreign Intervention in Elections Act, which would eliminate federal funding for any municipality that allows illegal immigrants and non-citizens to vote in local or statewide elections. On August 23rd, Congresswoman Harshbarger joined her colleagues in the Election Integrity Caucus in sending a letter to Speaker Pelosi urging her to not force a vote on H.R. 4 and instead work on bipartisan targeted election reforms. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z

Washington Democrats' out-of-control spending has sent both inflation and public debt soaring, now is not the time to pile on more." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z

Fleischmann Statement on House Democrats Moving Forward with Their $4 Trillion Socialist Tax-and-Spend Spree 2021-08-24 2021 2021-08 Republican House TN Charles J. "Chuck" Fleischmann F000459 fleischmann.house.gov fleischmann https://fleischmann.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper "While Americans are trapped in Afghanistan, and working-Americans are having their paychecks eaten up by runaway inflation, Congressional Democrats showed today that they are more concerned with forcing their radical agenda on the American People. This disastrous bill adds trillions to our debt, provides mass amnesty to illegal immigrants, increases inflation, and weakens our military," said Rep. Fleischmann. "Congress and the Biden Administration should be working on rescuing all Americans in Afghanistan, ending the illegal migration crisis at the southern border, and stopping inflation – not forcing socialism on the American People. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z
