In a letter sent today to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the members wrote, “As champions of voting rights in congress, we write to express serious concern about the year ending without a path forward on advancing voting rights.” “After months of compromises, Republicans have not come to the table on voting rights in numbers sufficient to overcome the existing filibuster.” “Ending 2021 without voting rights reform will allow state legislatures to continue their efforts in the new year to limit the right to vote. Meanwhile, failing to end partisan gerrymandering will allow some states to finalize maps that enshrine profound partisan imbalances for the next decade. We have no time to lose to ensure people have access to the ballot box and have a fair voice in selecting their representatives.” “We can no longer allow Senate procedure to stand in the way of ensuring people have their voice heard, and we ask that you do what is necessary to advance the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Also, in the conversations that I facilitated between the Federal Aviation Administration and those for the project and those against, it was abundantly clear the FAA is not likely now, or in the future, to approve a proposal like this. There is just too much potential for dangerous impact on aviation. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted against H.R. 5304, a bill that would raise the debt ceiling by $2.5 trillion to an unprecedented $31.5 trillion. This legislation provides no offset, spending reform, or long-term plan to address the many escalating crises facing our nation, including the border, crime, supply chain, and inflation. “Speaker Pelosi and her Big Government Democrats have made clear that there is no limit to how much of your money they are willing to spend to grow their own power,” said Moore. “By asking taxpayers to write a blank check to the Biden administration to pay for its wildly expensive socialist spending spree, Democrats are saddling future generations of Americans in deeper debt — mostly to China, our most dangerous geopolitical foe. Congress should be laser focused on protecting the safety and economic security of Americans, not squandering the viability of our nation for short-term political gain.” Moore voted against a previous bill to raise the debt ceiling in September. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

This comes as Senate Democrats continue to negotiate how many trillions more to spend on President Biden’s so-called Build Back Better Act, which will add to our ballooning $29 trillion national debt. Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-06) released the following statement: “It seems that the Democrats still can’t accept any limit on wasteful spending, even as we watch inflation inflict financial hardship on American families across the country,” Palmer said. “The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) also just published the true cost of the Democrats’ massive spending bill, and it would add over $3 trillion to our national debt. The U.S. debt is already 25 percent bigger than the entire economy, and the CBO projects that our debt-to-GDP will be over 200 percent by 2051. That means our debt will be twice as big as our entire economy. Such debt levels will ensure long-term inflation and possibly the loss of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency. We must recognize the threat to America’s future that such debt levels pose and take action to reduce our debt. We can start by eliminating wasteful spending, eliminating obsolete and unnecessary federal programs, reopening federal lands for oil and natural gas production and increase our exports, eliminating improper payments, and simplifying the federal tax code.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

Barry Moore (AL-02) issued the following statement after voting against holding Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress, yet another obvious abuse of power by House Democrats. “Instead of focusing on the real issues facing our country, the House Democrats continue to play political games,” said Moore. Democrats have made it very clear that they are out of touch with the needs of the American people. The January 6th Select Committee is nothing more than a political witch hunt aimed to attack Donald J. Trump and his supporters. We need to address the multiple real crises facing American families, like rising crime, increasing inflation, our broken supply chain, and the worsening border fiasco. Democrats may think they can distract the media and the public with partisan grandstanding, but the American people will hold them accountable for ignoring these crises.” Click here for an audio recording of Moore's statement. BACKGROUND While Congress has a significant and important oversight power to secure needed information in order to legislate, it does not have enumerated constitutional powers to conduct investigations or issue subpoenas outside of that scope. The issue before the House is not whether Congress should conduct oversight but instead whether Congress has the authority to conduct this investigation for a legislative purpose. Congress’s oversight authority also does not include law enforcement powers – those powers belong to the Executive and Judicial Branch, and the FBI and the US Attorney’s office are the law enforcement entities investigating the events of January 6th. The Supreme Court itself has agreed that Congress has no authority to issue a subpoena for law enforcement purposes, and if Congress believes a crime has been committed, that is the purview of the judicial and executive branches of government. The Court also agreed that Congress has no authority to issue a subpoena to compel exposure for the sake of exposure because that is not deemed a valid legislative purp… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

Terri Sewell (AL-07) applauded Globe Metallurgical Inc. on the re-opening of the silicon plant in Selma, Alabama in January 2022. An allocation from the New Markets Tax Credit Program is also being pursued to enable an expansion of planned capabilities and upgrade of equipment, making the plant more efficient and competitive in the global market. “I'm thrilled that Globe Metallurgical Inc. is reopening its silicon metal facility in my hometown of Selma!” said Rep. Sewell. “Manufacturing facilities are economic pillars in our community. I applaud everyone for their continued work in promoting growth and economic opportunity through high-quality jobs to residents in Selma and across the Black Belt.” Background: The Selma plant closed in 2018 due to low prices for silicon metal caused by foreign dumping. As a result of an increased demand and rise of prices, the plant in Selma reopened in November 2021. Globe Metallurgical, Inc. spent millions of dollars refurbishing the plant, aided by the Dallas County Commission and the State of Alabama in preparation for the plant’s reopening in January 2022.Additionally, the company hopes to secure federal New Market Tax Credits, which will enable further investment and an expansion of capabilities in the Selma operation. At full production, the facility will employ around 100 people in the region and will do business with 150 local suppliers. The two-furnace operation can produce up to 22,000 tons of silicon metal a year. Sewell. “We have an obligation to pay our bills that have piled up under previous administrations including President Trump's. Addressing the debt limit is the responsible thing to do, and I was proud to join my Democratic colleagues to protect families from catastrophe and pay our bills.” Notably, raising the debt limit does not authorize future spending. It is about meeting obligations the government has already made, including to Social Security recipients, veterans and to the millions who have benefited from the bipartisan COVID relief legislation passed in December – which was authored by multiple GOP Senators and voted for by more than 40 Republicans and signed into law by the previous president. Instead of trying to deflect from President Biden's abysmal failures, House Democrats need to use the little time they have left in the Majority to help the people we swore an oath to represent.” Schiff’s Political Power Grab incorporates several unnecessary “reforms” that are nothing but an attempt to validate House Democrats’ baseless investigation into the last Administration. While the bill does include some bipartisan reforms, the majority of its provisions inappropriately curb Presidential powers and inject the legislative branch into the functioning of the executive branch. • Directs the GSA Administrator, a political appointee, to determine the outcome of a Presidential election and begin transition activities within 5 days of the election, which creates opportunity for political abuse by an incumbent President facing a close reelection. • Restrains a duly elected President’s legitimate executive power to fill top federal agency acting positions with people of the president’s choosing by requiring a President to select a longer-serving federal bureaucrat to fill certain vacancies. • Limits the firing or reassigning of an agency Inspector General to nine specific reasons, which artificially… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

So, on this century mark, I send my sincere best wishes to everyone at ALFA and the thousands of Alabamians who make ALFA possible." "As a proud daughter of the Black Belt, I know firsthand the critical role that generations of Alabama farmers have played in the success of our economy, our people, and our state," said Rep. On their 100th anniversary, I applaud ALFA for their advocacy and thank them for their commitment to the well-being of my constituents." It now goes to the Senate for approval. "I'm pleased to see and support the revised NDAA before the House that both increases our defense funding and reverses the cuts that the Biden Administration proposed in the previous version," Aderholt said. "It's our job in Congress to ensure that our military is not only well funded but continues to maintain the highest standards in strength and capability." "I would like to thank Rep. Mike Rogers (AL-03), Ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee, for his leadership in the effort to maintain those standards. From Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville to the military shipbuilders in Mobile, our national defense will always be one of my top priorities. "The revised NDAA boosts the defense topline by $25 billion, a 5% increase over FY2021. It authorizes a 2.7% pay increase and benefits for servicemembers, reverses cuts to shipbuilding and aircraft procurement, includes all-time high investments into research and development, prohibits the Department of Defense from dishonorably discharging servicemembers that refuse the COVID-19 vaccine, mandates accountability on the Afghanistan withdrawal by demanding that the DoD recover all U.S. aircraft, and prohibits any financial support to the Taliban. I am also pleased that this final bill removed the requirement for women to register for the Selective Service." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

Barry Moore (AL-02) issued the following statement after voting for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) of 2022. The NDAA sets policy for our nation’s defense and is critical for our national security. “I am thrilled Congressional leaders were able to set aside partisan politics and put forward a true national defense bill that I could proudly support,” said Moore. “As a former Guardsman, I understand the absolute necessity of supporting of our servicemembers, and while imperfect, this bipartisan bill meets that challenge. I thank Ranking Member Rogers, as well as Armed Services Committee members Brooks and Carl, for their countless hours of hard work on this legislation. “Fighting to support our men and women in uniform is my highest priority, and they will always have my unwavering support.” In September, Moore voted against an earlier version of the NDAA before significant changes were made this week. The bill passed today with Moore’s support removed troubling red flag provisions that targeted veterans, eliminated the requirement for women to register with the selective service, and ensured that servicemembers who refused a COVID vaccine will not receive a dishonorable discharge. The bill also will include a larger investment in defense, require the Department of Defense to make uniform rules for all vaccines, provide a pay raise for the troops, and take meaningful steps to remove China from our defense supply chain. Their courage will never be forgotten. I think it’s also important to remember other attacks that were simultaneously carried out on Wake Island in the Pacific. They began on the morning of December 8th, and U.S. Marines and Naval men held the island for 15 days until fierce Japanese assaults forced them to surrender on December 23rd. The last message received from American soldiers manning the island said, ‘Enemy on island – issue in doubt.’ “On this somber anniversary, I’m thinking of Pearl Harbor and those who stepped up afterwards to defend liberty, sometimes in less noticeable ways. So, while we remember those who perished at Pearl Harbor, it is also fitting to remember the soldiers on Wake Island, who, though not as well-known, paid a high price in defense of our freedom.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

I think our military must be ready to meet emerging threats. A strong military is vital to our national security and to the security of our allies. This legislation has fortunately gone through necessary changes since it was first introduced, and no longer contains provisions which would infringe on our service members’ right to keep and bear arms, or would force our nation’s daughters to register for the draft. I commend the Republican Ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee, Mike Rogers (AL-03), for succeeding on removing these and other onerous provisions from the original bill. It does not create any new program, but deals solely with state and local public health data systems that have existed since the 1990s to track amassed statistics, outbreak responses, and full immunization programs such as schools’ full vaccine requirements. They do not track individual information. H.R. 550 seeks to address that many of these existing data systems are outdated and have fallen behind on their upkeep. The bill authorizes grants that would go towards helping states manage these antiquated databases. “I sympathize with those who are concerned about too much government control over healthcare decisions,” Palmer concluded. “It’s unfortunate that COVID continues to be politicized to instill fear and to allow the government to infringe on our basic rights. I have consistently opposed COVID vaccine mandates and individual tracking of that information, and I will vote against any bill that authorizes these things. But H.R. 550 does not mention COVID or COVID vaccines, and it does not violate privacy protections. It simply provides authorization for funding that would assist in upkeep of already existing data systems.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration. Moore has previously opposed continuing resolutions (CRs) that damage our military’s critical long-term planning ability and fail to address evolving issues addressing the nation. The government is currently being funded by a CR passed by Congress in September. “Democrats have been so focused on sticking the American people with their radical tax-and-spend agenda that they have once again neglected to perform the basic role of government,” said Moore. “Not only does this spending bill represent another fundamental failure by this Democrat-led Congress to do its job, but it allows the Biden administration’s reckless and dangerous vaccine mandates to be funded. Instead of forcing her radical agenda on America through constant manufactured financial cliff brinksmanship, Speaker Pelosi needs to address the multiple real crises facing American families, like rising crime, increasing inflation, our broken supply chain, and the worsening border fiasco.” H.R. 6119 continues appropriations at current levels until February 18, 2022, with limited exceptions. The legislation also provides $7 billion to assist in the resettlement of Afghan refugees, however, fails to address concerns raised on the last CR related to insufficient documentation during the verification process for Afghan refugees. Also hidden in the bill is $1.6 billion allocated for unaccompanied alien children (UAC) who illegally crossed the southern border. The text of the legislation was not made available for members to review until 8:00 a.m. this morning. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:37:48Z

Today, 66 years ago, Rosa Parks took a bold stand against racial discrimination by refusing to give up her seat on a public bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her seat did more than simply desegregate the bus systems of Montgomery. Her dignified courage inspired a movement that changed our nation. Rosa Parks’ quiet refusal to surrender her seat to a white passenger on December 1, 1955, sparked a city-wide boycott of the Montgomery bus system that lasted one whole year and broke the very will of a city heavily steeped in segregation. Biographer Douglas Brinkley recounted the powerful moment in his biography of Rosa Parks. He writes: “Are you going to stand up?" the driver demanded. Rosa Parks looked straight at him and said: "No." Flustered, and not quite sure what to do, the bus driver retorted, "Well, I'm going to have you arrested." And Rosa Parks sat next to the window and quietly said, "You may do that." Her soft yet forceful response led to an arrest, a $10 dollar fine, and the beginning of the most important demonstration in American history. Barry Moore (AL-02) joined as an original co-sponsor of the Conscience Protection Act, which would strengthen the rights of healthcare providers to object to medical procedures, namely abortion, that they hold serious moral or religious objections to. Currently, enforcement of existing federal conscience statutes relies on action from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and recent moves by the Biden Administration have made clear that they have little interest in protecting employees from discrimination should they morally or religiously object to participating in certain medical procedures. The Conscience Protection Act would provide a private right of action for employees to defend their conscience rights in court by suing their employer if punished or terminated for registering moral or religious objections. Rep. Andy Harris (MD-01) authored the legislation, which was joined by 99 others including Moore. “No healthcare providers should be forced by their employers to carry out a medical procedure against their moral and religious objections,” said Moore. “This administration has no right to force a medical professional to terminate the life of an innocent child against their moral and religious objections. I thank Congressman Andy Harris for introducing this important bill and am proud to fight alongside him and so many other of my colleagues for the innocent unborn.” Earlier this year, HHS Secretary Becerra committed that HHS would follow the law in reference to enforcing existing conscience statutes. Sadly, recent news from Vermont indicates the federal position has changed. In July, the Department of Justice (DOJ) mysteriously dropped a lawsuit initially filed in 2020 against the University of Vermont Medical Center after they were found to have violated existing conscience statute on multiple occasions. The day began with a visit of Innovation Depot, a startup ecosystem in Birmingham, where Mayor Woodfin, Sec. Walsh, and Rep. Here, they learned about the Birmingham Promise project which provides scholarships and apprenticeships to Birmingham City School students and heard testimonials from former and current students of Innovation Depot. Next, Rep. Sewell joined Sec. Walsh, Mayor Woodfin, and two local union workers for a rally in the historic Kelly Ingram Park to celebrate the signing of Executive Order 14026. The dangerous bill advanced by House Democrats today would bring our nation alarmingly closer to the repressive socialist utopia envisioned by power hungry globalists who abhor American exceptionalism and the rights of all individuals. This transformative legislation seeks to elevate government to the all-powerful role of provider of our livelihoods and our liberties, not the protector of our God-given rights that our brilliant Founders created. This battle now goes to the Senate, and I pray that freedom and reason prevail." The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates that the gross cost of the legislation will total roughly $2.4 trillion as written, but the gross cost will more than double to $4.9 trillion if all temporary policies are extended. The left-leaning Tax Policy Center found that Biden and Pelosi's Far-Left Socialist spending spree would raise taxes on middle-class Americans by 30%. Palmer continued, “The bill will further heighten the burdens of surging energy prices, especially for gasoline, natural gas, propane, and heating oil, which will put severe strains on lower income families and seniors on fixed incomes. If the inflationary impact of the bill were not enough, it even includes a natural gas tax. It also funds the hiring of 87,000 new IRS agents and eliminates the Hyde Amendment, which has prohibited federal funding of abortions. It discriminates against church-run and other faith-based childcare providers, undermines parental control of children’s education, further reduces American energy independence, and would provide amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants. Palmer concluded, “Ultimately, because of the process, the American people will not know everything that’s in this bill until it’s too late, because no one has had time to read it. But the portions we have read make it crystal clear that this bill will increase inflation and do great harm to our economy and our fiscal stability. The Democrats persisted in pushing this bill through, despite the warnings of former Obama Administration economists, including Steven Rattner, who said, ‘How could an Administration loaded with savvy political and economic hands have gotten this critical issue so wrong?’ The American people deserve better than this.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

At the time, nearly $1 trillion of allocated COVID relief funds remained unspent. Despite the bill’s name, only 9 percent of this funding went towards public health. "I want to thank everyone at the FAA who made this meeting possible. I think it clarified their current thinking about the status of this proposal. During the meeting, the FAA seemed to be clear that any use of airport property for a non-aeronautical purpose must first receive their approval, which has not occurred up to this point. "In addition, any sale or lease of the property must also receive FAA approval. There has been some confusion related to a recent letter from the FAA [regarding the agency's Aeronautical Study Number 2021-ASO-4634-NRA] and that this somehow indicated the FAA's approval of the plant to go forward. However, from the meeting today, the FAA made it plain that this was simply an approval of the height of the proposed plant and what impact it could have on airport glide paths. It was not an approval of what the building would be used for. The FAA officials reiterated their concern for how this proposed plant could attract wildlife that could be a hazard to aviation. "According to the FAA, any attempt to sell or lease the property without their approval will lead to an immediate investigation. Any unapproved sale or lease could be found to be in conflict with FAA rules, thereby jeopardizing future federal grant funding to the Gadsden Airport Authority. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

As a grateful nation, we have accepted the responsibility to ensure that the educational needs of the survivors and dependents of our fallen heroes are provided for. "The Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA) program currently provides $1,224 a month to eligible participants to help cover the costs of higher education. The program is available for survivors and dependents of certain servicemembers who died on active duty or were later found to be 100% service-connected disabled or died of a service-connected disability. "The Colonel John M. McHugh Tuition Fairness for Survivors Act would expand DEA program benefits, requiring GI Bill eligible schools to extend in-state tuition benefits to beneficiaries of the Dependents Educational Assistance Program – bringing the rules for this program in line with the Post 9/11GI Bill. "It is fitting that this bill bears the name of U.S. Army Colonel John McHugh. Col. McHugh was tragically killed 11 years ago by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. The loved ones left behind by this fallen hero have suffered unimaginable pain. The least we can do for his family, and others like them, is honor our commitment to them and ensure their education is affordable. "Col. McHugh’s family resides in my Southeast Alabama district in Enterprise. It gives me great pride that the name of this bill honors Col. McHugh’s legacy. This legislation is a commonsense solution to help our heroes’ families meet their higher education goals. I urge my colleagues to vote in favor of this bill." Click HERE for the full clip of Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) hosted the 10th Annual Congressional Job Fair at the Bessemer Civic Center. This year’s event featured over 50 employers from across 10 industry sectors. Returning to an in-person setting after two years, the Job Fair welcomed almost 500 job seekers. The Job Fair serves as an opportunity to foster economic growth across the 7th Congressional District, reflecting Rep. Sewell’s dedication to promoting job opportunities by connecting employers directly with job seekers. It is Rep. Sewell’s largest constituent outreach event of the year. Rep. Sewell is pleased to announce that next year's job fair will be held in her hometown of Selma, Alabama. “Like me, many Americans who grew up surrounded by poverty saw the lasting effects of historic disinvestment in their communities long before the COVID-19 pandemic brought these issues into sharp clarity,” said Rep. Sewell. “Since coming to Congress, I have made it my mission to address those very factors, making a commitment to the people of my District to bring economic opportunities directly to them. As one of my top priorities, the annual job fair is vital to creating a better future for Alabama families by promoting and advancing economic prosperity in the 7th District. I am beyond pleased at how well this year’s job fair went! Barry Moore (AL-02) delivered a letter to the Small Business Administrator Guzman to bring attention to challenges associated with the Small Business Administration’s COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) and requested an update on efforts to improve and streamline the program. “Over the last several months, my office has received a variety of inquiries and requests from small business owners about help through the EIDL program,” Rep. Moore wrote. “Applicants have experienced delays in their application approvals and in increases to their initially approved amounts. More specifically, my office has received frustrating reports from applicants who submitted the requested documentation and received initial approval for EIDL increases only to then receive a denial of their application. These applicants then appealed the decision, submitted the same documentation again, and then received approval. This process is absolutely confounding.” The letter continues, “While these constituents have received communications from the Small Business Administration about efforts to streamline the process and reduce delays, applicants appear to still be dealing with the same challenges. I am sure you will agree that this lack of progress does little to assist our struggling small businesses and ultimately stands in the way of their success. As such, I would like to request an update on your current strategy to improve and streamline this burdensome process.” The full letter is available here. On sending the letter, Palmer released the following statement: “The nation will have to build back from the brink of bankruptcy, should this legislation ever become law,” Palmer said. “Although the Democrats are pretending to scale back on a number of the unwarranted programs in it, we have no idea what the true price tag is for these policies that would fundamentally undermine our Republic and move us one step closer to socialism. “I have seen more than one or two budget gimmicks during my time in Congress, and this package is full of them,” Palmer continued. “For instance, the legislation partially funds programs and pretends they will come to an end, even though the clear intention is to make them permanent. This is why we have requested that the CBO Director conduct a true analysis, so that Congress and the American people have a real understanding of just how much this monstrosity will cost. Independent groups have consistently said this bill is not paid for and will increase the deficit. This analysis will expose all of the bill’s budget gimmicks and hopefully end this misleading effort to run our country over the fiscal cliff.” Congressman Palmer’s letter to Director Swagel can be read here. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

She also sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg inviting him to visit the district to see first-hand how rail crossing blockages impact small businesses, students, and community members. The letters are the latest of Rep. Sewell’s ongoing efforts to address blocked railroad crossings which have plagued the 7th District for years. “Our communities in the 7th District continue to suffer from unacceptable train blockages that put public safety at risk and make life more difficult for my constituents,” said Rep. Sewell. “ I am working with the Biden Administration to find long-term solutions at the federal level, but in the meantime, swift action is urgently needed to solve the current crisis. It is my hope that continued cooperation on the federal, state, and local level will prompt much-needed action.” In December 2019, the FRA launched a Blocked Crossing Incident Reporter website where the public and law enforcement can report the date, time, location, and duration that a crossing was blocked. The agency intends to use the data collected to achieve a better understanding of the location, duration, and impacts of blocked crossings. In 2018, Rep. Sewell co-authored a letter to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) requesting a report on the impact of longer freight trains and blocked railroad crossings. A number of recommendations from the resulting GAO report were included in President Biden’s bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which passed the House of Representatives on Friday, November 5th, 2021. Barry Moore (AL-02) voted against passage of the Democrats' $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill. Moore also voted against a procedural motion to provide a path forward for the Democrats multi-trillion dollar tax-and-spend reconciliation bill. Speaker Pelosi linked the two bills together to ensure passage of the even larger reconciliation package. “Around midnight last night, I voted against President Biden and Speaker Pelosi’s 'infrastructure' bill that only directs about 10 percent of its total spending to traditional infrastructure, with less than half of that going to roads and bridges," said Moore. "The bulk of this bill's spending goes towards the Democrats' radical progressive wish list and giveaways to urban Democrat districts, including millions for projects in Speaker Pelosi's home district. "Not only was this so-called infrastructure bill bad legislation, but because of the deal struck between Pelosi and her caucus members, a vote for the infrastructure bill was also a vote to grease the wheels for Democrats to pass their wildly expensive socialist reconciliation bill. I stand with the American people in strongly opposing the Democrats' radical agenda, and I will continue fighting against efforts to expand Big Government at the expense of our individual freedoms." ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-06) released the following statement: “Democrats have been in disarray and arguing amongst themselves for weeks over the specifics of these bills. The fundamental problems with both bills haven’t changed,” Palmer said. “Our economy is struggling, and our national debt already presents a serious national security threat, but the Democrats have shown they are willing to recklessly push through a bill that costs over a trillion dollars with only about 10 percent going to roads and bridges. I fully support funding for infrastructure that is focused on national priorities rather than wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on a Green New Deal wish list and programs under the guise of human infrastructure that simply expand government control of our lives. Palmer concluded, “At least the bill includes legislation which I introduced with Rep. David Trone (D-MD) that includes funding for the Birmingham Northern Beltline.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z

If government would stop taxing and regulating, we wouldn’t need the subsidizing. But Democrats are the champions of Big Government because they would rather gain power through taxes and regulations than see our economy grow. That’s what their tax and spend agenda is all about - power. "Today, the Biden economic crisis is raging, yet President Biden and Speaker Pelosi are pushing a 'Made In America' tax that will only aggravate the crises facing America. "The Made in America tax policy in this bill will drive up taxes on US firms and workers both at home and in every country they do business in around the world. This bill would also create a complex, parallel tax system that punishes investment in American production, permanently stops key domestic mineral development, and allows China to continue to have a monopoly in the critical mineral market. "The Democrats’ Made in America tax would give more power to Washington but make it better to be a foreign company or foreign worker than to be an American one. The memoranda in question establish numerous sanctuary spaces for illegal aliens across the nation, halt worksite enforcement to prevent illegal aliens from working illegally in the United States, and severely restrict criteria for which aliens can be apprehended and removed. The letter to Mayorkas states that “while not directly giving in to the radical Left’s calls to abolish ICE, by halting immigration enforcement actions conducted by the agency, it is clear DHS is seeking to abolish ICE from within. Your recent actions will further exacerbate the ongoing humanitarian, public health, and national security crises taking place at our southern border and further incentivize lawlessness." “The intolerable restrictions the Biden administration has placed on our embattled ICE agents have rendered them law enforcement officers in name only and placed our border in extreme jeopardy of being totally overrun by crime," said Moore. "Secretary Mayorkas has informed every potential illegal immigrant, drug coyote, and human trafficker that our border is open for business, and to every American he has shown that their security takes a backseat to Biden’s open borders agenda. The Biden Administration must take immediate steps to address these detrimental decisions that have directly led to the Biden border crisis or risk further irreversible damage to our national sovereignty and the safety of American citizens.” “With more border encounters the past year than any year on record, it’s clear we’re past the point of this being a crisis," said Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) joined a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in opposition to vaccine mandates for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The letter urges Secretary Mayorkas to consider alternatives to enforcing the vaccine mandate and work on retaining an already-limited Border Patrol workforce. “It is unthinkable that the Biden administration would push out hundreds of Border Patrol agents during the middle of the border crisis it created," said Moore. "These agents are at the frontline of keeping our borders secure and communities safe, and to punish them with unconstitutional vaccine mandates a year after hailing them as heroes during the early days of the pandemic would be criminal. Secretary Mayorkas must do the right thing and prioritize a secure border over oppressive vaccine mandates." Background: Under President Biden’s Executive Order 14043, federal employees who do not get vaccinated will be subject to termination as early as next month. The average hiring process for Border Patrol agents takes more than 400 days, followed by over 20 weeks of training at the Border Patrol Academy. With morale and recruitment rates already at an all-time low, the agency would be unable to fill vacancies expeditiously. Click HERE to see the letter. "Today, gas prices are about 50% higher than only a year ago. In Montgomery, folks are paying $3.09 per gallon, Enterprise $3.21, and Eufaula and Troy $3.29. At these prices, the average Alabamian will pay about $23 more each week on gasoline. That’s more than $100 each month, and almost $1,200 a year! "Gas prices impact small businesses too. I’m a small business owner, and countless small businesses like mine that are highly dependent on gas prices are being hammered right now by high gas prices. Almost all goods and services must be delivered via gas at some point. So its basic economics. When the price of gas goes up, the price of everything goes up! That’s on top of near-record inflation being driven by out-of-control government spending. "The insanity has to stop, or the pain at the pump will continue. Biden must end his war on American energy, and and we must defeat his socialist tax-and-spend agenda." Background: President Biden's arbitrary drilling moratoriums on federal lands will increase fees and royalties on onshore and offshore oil and gas production and continue to drive higher gas prices and could potentially destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs. Some parts of America have seen the price for a gallon of gas reach $7.59 a gallon. Yesterday, Moore spoke on the floor regarding Biden's energy crisis and the Democrats' proposal for a "Heat Your Home" tax. Click HERE for the full clip of Rep. Their latest scheme, tucked away in their reconciliation bill, is a "Heat Your Home" tax – just in time for winter. This tax could eliminate as many as 90,000 American jobs and increase Americans' heating bills by up to $242 per year. "Pain from the Heat Your Home tax would hit Americans who are already suffering from the Biden energy crisis. The national average for a gallon of gas reached $3.38 on Monday – the most Americans have paid at the pump since Biden was vice president. And home heating costs are already projected to rise by as much as 54% for some American households this winter. "This crisis is driven by bad policies. On Joe Biden's first day in office, he killed over 11,000 American jobs by blocking by the Keystone Pipeline. Basically, Joe Biden's energy policy is this: you kill the Keystone Pipeline, then you allow Russia a green light to build a pipeline, then you beg OPEC to increase production, and you buy solar panels from China. And with that, I yield back." Background: House Democrats' "Heat Your Home" tax authorizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to assess a $1,500 tax per ton of methane emissions on energy producers, processors, transmission, storage, import/export, and pipelines. Already, home heating costs are projected to rise by as much as 54% for some American households this winter, and some parts of America have seen the price for a gallon of gas reach $7.59 a gallon. One of Biden's first executive orders was to pause new oil and gas leasing on U.S. lands and waters. This order will cost approximately one million Americans jobs in the near term, decrease U.S. Gross Domestic Product by $700 billion, and put America's energy security at risk. U.S. oil imports from foreign sources would increase by 2 million barrels a day. Through 2030, the U.S. would spend $500 billion more on energy from foreign suppliers. Sewell S001185 sewell.house.gov sewell https://sewell.house.gov/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. – On Monday, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) spoke on the House Floor during the Congressional Black Caucus’ Special Order Hour to call on her Senate colleagues to reform the filibuster and pass federal legislation to protect the right to vote, including her bill, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Below are Rep. Sewell’s remarks: Rep. Sewell: Madam Speaker, as we speak, our nation is facing the most concerted effort to restrict the right to vote in a generation. Just this year, 400 bills have been introduced in state legislatures across this nation to restrict the right to vote. And in 19 states, at least 33 of these bills have become law, including the most egregious of state legislatures, Georgia, where now it is a crime to give a bottle of water to a voter as they stand in line. Even as our very democracy comes under attack, we see Republicans standing firm in their opposition to protecting the right to vote, a bedrock principle that should never be partisan. Just last week, we watched as every Senate Republican voted to block debate on the Freedom to Vote Act, a commonsense bill that would ensure every American has access to the ballot box. What are they afraid of, I ask? What are they afraid of? Last week’s vote made clear that Senate Republicans are unwilling to even debate voting rights, let alone hold a fair vote. This just further demonstrates that in order to protest and protect our democracy and the sacred right to vote, we must reform the filibuster to create a path forward for must-pass pieces of legislation. Madam Speaker, almost three weeks ago, we saw Senator Leahy introduce S. 4, the John Robert Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, in the Senate. But unless we take action on the filibuster and take action now, this critical bill will face the same fate as the Freedom to Vote Act. The way I see it —every Senator is now faced with a choice. It’s voting rights or the filibuster. It’s protecting our sacred right to vote and our democracy or the filibuster. It’s … 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

Sewell S001185 sewell.house.gov sewell https://sewell.house.gov/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) applauded the passage of H.R. 2119, the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act. This bipartisan bill would reauthorize the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) which—nearly 40 years after its enactment—continues to be the primary source of federal funding for domestic violence shelters in the US. H.R. 2119 would enhance and refocus federal investment to address intimate partner violence (IPV). The bill passed the House today by a vote of 228-200. “We have a duty to prevent the scourge of domestic violence and ensure that survivors in Alabama and throughout the country are safe and cared for,” said Rep. Sewell. “That’s why I’m proud to join my colleagues in voting to pass the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act. At a time when rates of domestic violence are on the rise, ensuring that we fully fund programs to combat domestic violence is paramount!” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about one in four women and nearly one in ten men have reported experiencing some form of IPV during their lifetime. Yet, according to the National Network to End Domestic Violence, in just one day in 2020, domestic violence programs were unable to meet 11,047 requests from survivors of domestic violence for shelter and/or supportive services. This is an increase of almost 2,000 requests (almost 18 percent) in just two years. FVPSA, which is the central pillar in fighting against IPV, has not been reauthorized since 2010, leaving programs underfunded and outdated. COVID-19 has increased the risk of IPV and disrupted services that offer resources and support. Communities of color, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals experience disproportionate rates of IPV but face significant barriers to accessing services. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

Barry Moore (AL-02) issued the following statement after sending a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack regarding Farm Service Agency (FSA) vaccine requirements. “USDA’s requirement for the mandatory vaccination of all state and county FSA committee members and advisors is extremely short-sighted and harmful to the communities USDA serves. Too many policy changes – especially those impacting agriculture – occur far from those most often impacted, and this decision by USDA is no exception. Secretary Vilsack should not hamstring USDA’s mission by punishing FSA leaders and public servants who play such an important role as advocates for their communities and their industry. I hope the Secretary will reconsider his position and exempt these committee members or offer reasonable accommodations to allow them to continue their service while unvaccinated.” BACKGROUND FSA state, county, and community committees were authorized by the Soil Conservation and Domestic Allotment Act of 1935. These committees share the responsibility and work together to administer FSA programs. State committees are responsible for administering various programs, including state agricultural conservation programs, production adjustment and price support programs, livestock programs, Agricultural Market Transition Act programs, and other programs assigned by the Secretary or Congress. Responsibilities of county committees include agricultural conservation programs, production adjustment and price support programs, and livestock programs. On September 22, 2021, USDA employees and part-time employees received a memorandum outlining the new vaccination requirement under President Biden’s Executive Order 14043. In short, members must take the vaccine or face termination. Click here for a copy of Moore's letter. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

Democrats need to let the professional nonpartisan entities investigating January 6th continue their work and get the House busy confronting the multiple Biden crises, including: rising prices, a broken supply chain, chaos at the border, increasing violent crime, and continued fallout from the Afghanistan debacle. "Democrats may think they can distract the media and the public with partisan grandstanding, but the American people will hold them accountable for ignoring these crises.” Click here for an audio recording of Moore's statement. BACKGROUND While Congress has a significant and important oversight power to secure needed information in order to legislate, it does not have enumerated constitutional powers to conduct investigations or issue subpoenas outside of that scope. The issue before the House is not whether Congress should conduct oversight, but instead whether Congress has the authority to conduct this investigation for a legislative purpose. Congress’s oversight authority also does not include law enforcement powers – those powers belong to the Executive and Judicial Branch and the FBI and the US Attorney’s office are the law enforcement entities investigating the events of January 6th. The letter also requests the development of a comprehensive program to screen members of the military for recurring medical conditions, particularly myocarditis, that may have resulted from a COVID-19 infection or vaccination. Unfortunately, research shows that these cases of myocarditis often go undetected. Moore’s letter highlights concerns that have arisen from members of the medical community, including the Centers for Disease Control, of recurring medical conditions including myocarditis resulting from the COVID-19 virus and vaccinations that have “the potential to impact force readiness in the months and years to come.” The letter notes that these concerns have been raised by both civilian and military members of the medical community, including military physician LTC Theresa Long at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Moore has spoken with LTC Long and offered to present her sworn affidavit on this issue to Secretary Austin. The letter also states that “[w]hile the development of three COVID-19 vaccines was a true testament to the ingenuity and commitment of the American people, the recent efforts to force these new vaccinations on millions of Americans goes against the principles of freedom and individual liberty that we hold dear.” “I’ve been overwhelmed by concerns from American citizens and servicemembers who are being forced to choose between taking a vaccine they don’t want and providing for their families,” said Moore. “I’ve especially been moved by the concerned friends and neighbors of those directly affected who have chosen to stand up against these un-American mandates. “With both Fort Rucker and Maxwell Air Force Base located here, our distr… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:24:51Z

By raising the debt limit, while continuing their efforts to pass their $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, along with their $4 trillion reconciliation tax and spend bill, Democrats show how oblivious they are to the national debt crisis. Congressman Gary Palmer (AL-06) released the following statement: “Democrats just raised the debt limit while also trying to pass the most expensive piece of legislation in the history of the United States,” Palmer said. “We are already at a point where U.S. debt is at 125 percent of our GDP (Gross Domestic Product). This means that our debt is now 25 percent larger than the entire U.S. economy. The debate over raising the debt limit should have been a pause point to allow Democrats and Republicans to work together to deal with our unsustainable debt. The reckless disregard for our debt crisis has become a national security threat, and it is undermining the security and well-being of the current and future generations. This change disproportionately affects Alabama and other conservative states where this treatment has been used successfully. “This allocation change to the supply of monoclonals in the midst of a public health emergency delayed potentially life-saving treatments to many Alabamians,” said Moore. "The federal government implemented this change at a time when many Alabama hospitals were in the midst of a crisis from a rise in the delta variant. Adding even more government red tape to our hospitals at a time like this is inexcusable. This administration needs to stop playing politics when there are lives at stake.” “According to University of Alabama in Birmingham researchers, monoclonal antibody therapy reduces risk of hospitalization by 70% in high-risk unvaccinated persons,[1]” said Brooks. “But, the Biden Administration is throttling Alabama’s supply of mAb treatments according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.[2] The signers of this letter want answers from the Biden Administration about why they’re reducing the number of lifesaving treatments available to Alabamians.” The letter reads: Secretary Becerra, We write to convey Alabama’s concerns regarding allocation of monoclonal antibody (mAb) treatments. This life-killing legislation legalizes abortion on demand, opening the floodgates to killing millions of infant lives - all worthy of saving,” said Moore. “Trampling over state laws, this bill overturns nearly every pro-life protection that Alabama has in place, including current safeguards for any baby determined to be viable. At the time of viability testing, babies have a heartbeat, all their major organs, and can even feel pain. Yet under the Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act, none of these protections would stay in place to save unborn Alabamians. As an unapologetic pro-life conservative, I will never stop fighting Democrats’ radical attacks to undermine the sanctity of life.” Background: H.R. 3755 codifies the right to abortion up to the birth of the baby in federal law and prevents states from enforcing current laws that protect the unborn. Specifically, this legislation: ● Legalizes abortions on demand until birth; ● Eliminates nearly all pro-life policies; ● Jeopardizes ultrasound and fetal heartbeat tests, mandatory reflection periods, and parental notification requirements; ● Blocks states’ abilities to enact pain-capable laws at 20-weeks of pregnancy; ● Forces state governments that lose legal fights to uphold pro-life laws to pay litigation costs and “reasonable attorney fees” to the pro-abortion plaintiffs; ● Threatens the jobs of medical professionals who conscientiously oppose abortion, as well as public funding for faith-based facilities. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

The NDAA is intended to set policy for our nation’s defense, but this year’s bill, written by the Democrat-controlled Armed Services Committee and heavily amended on the floor of the House, includes several alarming provisions unrelated and even harmful to our national security. “Instead of prioritizing and strengthening programs to better equip our military against growing global threats, Speaker Pelosi hijacked a traditionally bipartisan defense authorization bill to instead transform our military into a woke social engineering experiment,” said Moore. “By inserting the requirement that our young women must register with the Selective Service – without providing any justification or explanation for how it is necessary for our national defense, Democrats have escalated their war on traditional families and opened our daughters to the dangers of being drafted into combat zones around the globe. Barry Moore votes against Biden's Blank Check 2021-09-21 2021 2021-09 Republican House AL Barry Moore M001212 barrymoore.house.gov barrymoore https://barrymoore.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 5305, Biden’s Blank Check, which fails to fund the government for the full fiscal year and suspends the nation’s debt ceiling through 2022 to pay for Democrats’ socialist spending spree despite our national debt currently standing at over $28.7 trillion: “I was taught growing up that when you’re in debt and your house is falling apart, you don’t get another credit card to splurge on fancy restaurants and luxurious vacations,” said Moore. “Instead of addressing the many crises facing our nation, including the border, crime, and inflation, Pelosi is asking taxpayers to write a blank check to the Biden administration to pay for its wildly expensive socialist spending spree. Worst of all, Pelosi waited until days before government funding runs out to force Congress to swallow a debt ceiling increase at the risk of a shutdown. At a time when Bidenomics is already wreaking havoc on millions of hardworking families, farmers, and small business owners, we should be focused on sensible spending reform - not holding America’s fiscal future hostage.” Background: Historically, Congress evaluates government spending each year through 12 appropriations bills, allowing a robust and careful examination of government programs and spending levels. However, a Continuing Resolution (CR), which Speaker Pelosi brought to the floor today, extends current funding levels, often on a short-term basis, until regular appropriations acts are completed. This process prevents government departments and agencies from properly budgeting for the full fiscal year - wasting tremendous amounts of time and money. Congress is considering a CR because Democrat leadership failed to perform its most fundamental duty - despite having full control of the federal government. Undoubtedly, this artificial crisis was part of Speaker Pelosi’s plan. After ignoring this important deadline for months, House Democrats released the bill text the morning of… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

The Biden Administration’s statement that issuing vaccine mandates was 'not the role of the federal government' has now been revealed as a barefaced lie, just like the President’s claim that he had a plan for Afghanistan. It is clear to Americans and our allies abroad that deceit, ineptitude, and even subversion are at the foundation of this Administration. “The nation that Americans have defended for over two centuries is under siege from within, and Americans will not and must not allow it to continue unchallenged. If Joe Biden does not step down, Congress must immediately move to impeach him before he causes more irreversible damage to our economy, freedoms, and global prestige.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

"President Biden not only left behind 10% of the Americans and countless Afghan allies, but needlessly turned over $85 billion worth of lethal equipment that will be used to inflict harm on the US and our allies. "President Biden appears to have overridden the judgment of his generals, ignored our allies, and, in the process, damaged our credibility around the globe. His rushed exit and failure to secure a path out for citizens and allies was a colossal blunder and he alone bears responsibility. All this because President Biden wanted a sound bite that said he got us out of a 20-year war. These actions make America look weak. "Out of all of President Biden's poor decisions regarding our military and foreign policy, this is by far the worst. The number one job of the Commander in Chief is to protect every American. I ask all Americans to join me in praying for our countrymen and allies still trapped on the ground in Afghanistan. The United States has been delivered through many crises in our history, and I believe we will be again. “Unfortunately, President Biden’s stubborn refusal to take accountability for this deadly crisis and his inexplicably cavalier attitude toward this low point in American history gives me no confidence that this Administration possesses the leadership or priorities necessary to salvage this disastrous retreat and rescue either our stranded Americans or global reputation. It is abundantly and agonizingly clear that drastic changes are needed throughout this Administration – beginning at the top. President Biden must acknowledge that he is not up to the task of serving as Commander-in-Chief of the greatest country in the free world, and he must step aside and allow new leadership to guide the United States through these perilous times.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:17:01Z

Rep. Numerous participants, including Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System, Leidos, VA-Veteran Service Officers, and several employment vendors, were able to provide assistance with a wide range of veteran needs and job opportunities. Veterans were also assisted with best practices for the long, often arduous task of VA Ratings Determination. “Serving the veterans who have served us is one of my highest priorities, and I am so thankful for all those who turned out to make this inaugural event a success,” said Moore. “I hope that all our veterans will take full advantage of the many resources available to them, and I will continue working to generate awareness of those resources and to intervene directly with the federal government to ensure we honor our commitment to our nation’s veterans.” As part of his commitment to serving our veterans, Rep. I’m going to say one last thing: Joe Biden must go." Background: On August 19, President Biden promised unambiguously that he was committed to keeping U.S. troops in Afghanistan until every American who wanted to leave was safely out of the country - even beyond the August 31 deadline imposed by the Taliban, stating, “If there’s American citizens left, we’re going to stay until we get them all out.” However, the last American troops in Afghanistan left the country yesterday, despite Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby confirming there are at least “several hundred” Americans desperately trying to leave Afghanistan. According to President Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken will rely on cooperation from the Taliban to safely bring these abandoned Americans home, stating, “The Taliban has made commitments on safe passage and the world will hold them to their commitments.” Click HERE for the full clip of Rep. Over the last 18 months, no U.S. military members were killed, but today we have lost at least 12. I cannot support this delusional attack on democracy, but I remain committed to strengthening election integrity for all Americans.” Background: Following H.R. 1’s demise in the Senate, Speaker Pelosi turned to her backup plan: H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Under H.R. 4, Democrats are attempting to weaponize the Department of Justice, nationalize our elections, and politicize voting rights: H.R. 4 transforms President Biden’s Attorney General into an unelected, unaccountable “Elections Czar” with power over all voting across the country, even requiring states to submit existing statutes to the Elections Czar for approval. H.R. 4 will also give the Biden administration authority to veto states’ voter ID laws. A recent survey found that 81% of Americans support voter identification laws. This bill gives the Biden DOJ authority to designate a voter ID law as a voting rights violation or as evidence of voting discrimination. Despite years of claiming that minority communities face discriminatory forces at every turn, Democrats are unable to present any evidence of voter suppression. 2018 and 2020 saw record turnout among Americans from minority communities, and voter registration is also high. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z

The lawmakers urged the administration to immediately prioritize the evacuation of American citizens and the many Afghans who worked alongside U.S. forces. “The Biden administration’s botched retreat that has triggered the shocking and total collapse of the Afghanistan government is a painful betrayal of our Afghan allies, an unforgivable insult to the thousands of Americans who spilled their blood on Afghan soil, and an inconceivable abandonment of the many Americans who at this moment await rescue from the escalating warzone," said Moore. "I join my fellow freshman Republican Congressmen in demanding President Biden provide a briefing to Congress on his plan to salvage the situation on the ground before our nation suffers even more irreversible damage to our global reputation among allies and foes alike.” American men and women have served in Afghanistan for 20 years, making the war the longest in our history. Unfortunately, President Biden rejected the conditions-based withdrawal developed by the Trump administration. According to Trump's plan, final successful peace negotiations between the Taliban and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani's government were necessary before any final withdrawal. Under President Trump's leadership, which established clear consequences for Taliban intransigence through Trump's personal engagement with the leader of the Taliban delegation, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, clear progress was made towards an honorable withdrawal. In fact, no U.S. soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in the final 11 months of the Trump administration. Through working closely with President Ghani, the groundwork was laid for Afghans to take the future of their country into their own hands. https://aderholt.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/congressman-aderholt-statement-democrats-partisan-budget-proposal Congressman Aderholt Statement on Democrats’ Partisan Budget Proposal 2021-08-09 2021 2021-08 Republican House AL Robert B. Aderholt A000055 aderholt.house.gov aderholt https://aderholt.house.gov/media-center/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Robert Aderholt issued the following statement after Democrats released their $3.5 trillion budget plan. "The budget put forward by Democrats is just reckless, and a leftwing smorgasbord. Not only is the amount of money they propose we borrow from our children and grandchildren reckless, but also the way in which they want to use budget tricks to pass it. "This budget is full of Green New Deal type programs. It increases the welfare rolls and has no requirements for work. It also includes amnesty for millions of people in the United States illegally. And even though Democrats claim to hate tax cuts, this budget gives one to their wealthy, liberal donors in blue states. "Budget reconciliation was never intended to be a workaround of the legislative, appropriations process. But Democrats know they could not get this leftwing budget through Congress any other way. The leftwing of the party has gotten the taxpayers' credit card and they are ready to go on a spending spree." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z

Our servicemembers shouldn’t be unnecessarily forced into taking the vaccine just because overreaching politicians want to continue intervening in the private lives of the American people." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z
https://barrymoore.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-barry-moore-condemns-bidens-2-billion-effort-weaken-our-border-security Rep. Barry Moore condemns Biden's $2 billion effort to weaken our border security 2021-07-30 2021 2021-07 Republican House AL Barry Moore M001212 barrymoore.house.gov barrymoore https://barrymoore.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. — This week, U.S. Representative Barry Moore (AL-02) joined Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05) and 20 of their colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden regarding Presidential Proclamation 10142, which halted construction of the southern border wall. A recent report suggests the Biden administration is wasting at least $2 billion in taxpayer dollars to pay contractors to not build the wall. "Illegal border encounters continue to surpass previous record highs, but Biden is wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on paying contractors not to work - while piles of steel fencing rust in the desert,” said Moore. “This willful negligence and fiscal irresponsibility only fuels the fire of chaos burning at our southern border and is a grave threat to American national security. We must resume construction of the border wall, secure the southern border, enforce existing immigration laws, and put the American people first.” Background: On his first day in office, President Biden issued Presidential Proclamation 10142, which stopped the construction of the wall along the southern border. According to a recent report from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management, at least $2 billion in taxpayer dollars have been spent on Department of Defense contractors to not build the border wall. The study found that in the period immediately following President Biden’s proclamation, contractors were being paid $6 million per day to not work. Under the Biden administration, startling statistics reveal chaos at our southern border: Last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stopped 188,829 illegal immigrants at the border - the highest number seen in 21 years and a 471% increase from June of last year. Over 1 million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border so far this year - a 362% increase from the same time frame last year. 34% of migrants encountered in June 2021 had at least one prior encounter with CBP in the last 12 mo… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:03:51Z

Barry Moore, Mike Levin introduce bipartisan legislation providing veterans’ clothing allowance 2021-07-29 2021 2021-07 Republican House AL Barry Moore M001212 barrymoore.house.gov barrymoore https://barrymoore.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C.—Today, U.S. Representatives Barry Moore (R-AL) and Mike Levin (D-CA) introduced the Mark O’Brien Clothing Allowance Improvement Act, a bipartisan bill to help veterans replace clothing that is routinely damaged by prosthetics, orthopedic devices, or skin medicines that they need as a result of active-duty injuries. A fact sheet on the bill is available here. The bill would amend an existing Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) clothing allowance program by enabling payments to continue on an automatically recurring annual basis until the veteran elects to no longer receive payments or VA determines the veteran is no longer eligible. Currently, a veteran must provide a clothing allowance form to their local VA medical center annually, an unnecessarily burdensome process for those who have a lifelong condition that requires a device or medicine which damages their clothing. "Our nation's heroes shouldn't have to face repetitive red tape to receive the assistance they deserve," said Moore, who serves as Ranking Member of the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee on the Veterans Affairs Committee. "By removing burdensome hurdles, our bipartisan bill streamlines the process for our veterans to collect a clothing allowance. I'm proud to work with Rep. Levin in providing a commonsense solution that ensures our veterans have easier access to this beneficial program." “Veterans with service-connected conditions should not be on the hook for the cost of clothing damaged by their prosthetics, orthopedic devices, or medicine,” said Levin, who serves as Chairman of the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee on the Veterans Affairs Committee. “Our bill cuts through red tape at the VA to make it easier for veterans to receive the clothing allowances they deserve. I’m proud to introduce this bill with Rep. Moore, and I am hopeful we can pass it with wide bipartisan support soon.” The VA will provide a clothing allowance to a veteran if his/her prosthetic or orthopedic device or skin medicine causes damage to his/her c… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:03:51Z
