Wednesday, Gov. John Bel Edwards responded to a letter from U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham about the future of safety net hospitals in north Louisiana and the medical school. Abraham wants protections for the medical school built into any new hospital management contract. He also sent a letter to LSU Board of Supervisors Stephen Perry about the situation. "I understand that the state and LSU have sought a resolution to the often-tenuous relationship with its current manager, BRF, and I appreciate that Oschner has a reputation of delivering high quality and affordable health care to patients throughout South Louisiana," Abraham said. "Certainly, bringing stability to the management of the hospitals will provide much needed peace of mind to the patients who utilize those facilities."
