More than 100 gathered Tuesday in Rayville to participate in grand opening ceremonies of the NortheastLouisiana Veterans Cemetery, one day before the first burial will take place. Construction on the $7.3 million Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery near Rayville began last year. Abraham said this has been a passion shared by the whole community that has finally came to fruition through a lot of hard work and dedication. He talked of the compassion and service of George Franklin to his country and community. He honored the Franklin family with an American Flag that previously flew over the nations capitol. Thousands of veterans like George Franklin who gave their all, and sometimes, unfortunately, their lives, for us. We appreciate every breath of air we take because of them, Abraham said.
