Adams A000370 adams.house.gov adams https://adams.house.gov/media-center/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) is celebrating a major $3,150,000 grant award delivered by the Biden-Harris White House and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)’s “Safe Streets and Roads for All” program, to the “Safety is Everyone’s Business” project under the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO). DOT is awarding CRTPO the grant to develop a comprehensive safety action plan for its three-county planning area. CRTPO previously received $5 million in July, through the DOT Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant, to examine prevailing transportation issues in Areas of Persistent Poverty (APP), Historically Disadvantaged Communities (HDC) and Rural Areas (RA) throughout the CRTPO’s planning area. These programs were all funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021. “I want to thank the Biden-Harris Administration and the Department of Transportation for this award that will make Charlotte’s streets safer for children and families,” said Rep. Adams, “This White House has shown through bipartisan efforts and hard work that they are committed to sustainable growth and a better future for Metro Charlotte and for all Americans. I’m proud to have supported their Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that funds this program.” “This Safe Streets and Roads for All grant award is an exciting investment in the CRTPO planning area and acknowledgment by USDOT of our important role in this work,” said CRTPO Director Robert Cook. “The development of a multi-jurisdictional safety action plan will provide the region’s leaders with a review of the current transportation safety conditions, data-driven recommendations, and long-term action plans for addressing gaps and challenges.” As the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Charlotte Urban Area, the CRTPO will leverage its partnerships across Iredell, Mecklenburg, and Union counties to unify local priorities and knowledge into a single planning process. ### Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. represents North Carolina's 12th Congressional District (Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, Cabarrus County) and serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Education & the Workforce, where she serves as ranking member of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T21:43:57Z
