Adams, Ph.D., (NC-12) released the followingstatementfollowing theMaternalHealthQuality Improvement Act, H.R. 4995, passing the Energy and Commerce Committee with bipartisan support: America is facing amaternalhealth crisis, and women of color are themost impacted victims. Today, I am pleased with the work of the Energy and CommerceHealthSubcommittee as it passed theMaternalHealthQuality Improvement Act, a bill I co-led, with bipartisan support, said Congresswoman Adams. For Black women, the risk of dying from pregnancy-related causes is significantly higher than that of white women that is whyIand my colleague, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), first introduced theMaternal CARE Act, H.R. 2902. TheMaternal CARE Act would address theimplicit bias rampant inmaternalhealthcare by allocating funds to support professional training programs and pregnancy medical homevisitationprograms.Keyprovisionsfrom my legislation wereincluded in theMaternalHealthQuality Improvement Act and I hope we will continue working towards a society in which all women have the same access toquality, competenthealthcare. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
