Adams Responds to Senate Judiciary Committee Vote on Kavanaugh Confirmation 2018-09-28 2018 2018-09 Democrat House NC Alma Adams A000370 adams.house.gov     legacy Washington, DC Today, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D.(NC-12) responded to the Senate Judiciary Committee's vote to favorably report the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court without a proper investigation of the sexual assault allegations by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Julia Swetnick, and Deborah Ramirez. Today, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley kept his promise to plow through' a confirmation vote for Brett Kavanaugh without properly investigating multiple allegations of sexual assault, despite yesterday's credible testimony by Dr. Ford. History will remember this moment as Senator Grassley and his fellow committee Republicans have shamed victims of assault while defending Kavanaugh without an investigative report. With today's committee vote in favor of Brett Kavanaugh, I urge Senate Majority Leader McConnell to postpone scheduling a final confirmation vote until a full investigation of all allegations is complete. Anything less is a clear message to all women and survivors of assault that certain elected officials will never believe their stories or fight for them. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
