Alma S. Adams (NC-12) along with caucus Member Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) announced that SAP is the fourth corporation to accept the HBCU Partnership Challenge. The previously announced Challenge and survey are an effort to promote equal support for HBCUs and the students they serve. Last September, during the first annual HBCU Braintrust, the Bipartisan HBCU Caucus issued the HBCU Partnership Challenge. The Challenge encourages participating organizations to make greater investments in HBCUs. Following the issuance of the Challenge, the Caucus conducted a survey to learn more about current HBCU engagement with corporate America. After the conclusion of the survey, the Caucus will work with industry to establish best practices to continue diversifying our workforce. Since 2015, the Bipartisan HBCU Caucus has worked to address the inequities facing HBCUs. We've made progress, but we cannot do it alone, said Congresswoman Adams. Leveling the playing field for our schools and our students requires a collective approach. We must ensure that HBCUs have access to the same federal resources and private sector opportunities as their peer institutions. As the world's third largest independent software manufacturer, SAP has accepted the HBCU Partnership Challenge after developing key partnerships with institutions like Delaware State University. I look forward to their participation during the Inaugural HBCU Diversity in Tech Summit while igniting the power of partnerships between government, industry, and HBCU leaders to close the diversity gap. According to a recent Forbes report, 95% of the tech workforce is white, and it is clear we need to do more to create opportunities for students of all backgrounds. I applaud SAP SE for stepping up and meeting the HBCU Partnership Challenge head on by committing to a more inclusive tech industry. SAP SE recognizes the talent produced by Delaware State University and HBCUs across the country, and this official partnership will yield favorable results for all involved, said Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester. As a member of the Bipartisan HBCU Caucus and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I am excited to see SAP SE and the HBCU Partnership Challenge change the culture of the tech industry, while fostering some of the best and brightest minds in the field. Distribution of talent and intellect does not discriminate based on gender, race/ethnicity or other physical attributes. Similarly, it is incumbent upon corporations to capitalize on that talent by building inclusive workplaces devoid of bias of all types, said Margot Goodson, Head of Diversity and Inclusion, SAP North America. Participating in this HBCU Challenge, in conjunction with other diversity and inclusion initiatives, will help SAP to bridge the talent gap facing the technology sector and drive us towards our greater goal for a more inclusive culture, greater innovation and productivity, and even stronger financial results. On August 8th & 9th, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. will convene the HBCU, tech, & policy communities for the Inaugural HBCU Diversity in Tech Summit on the campus of the largest STEM degree-granting HBCU in the country North Carolina Agricultural & Technological State University. This summit will be an intimate opportunity for major corporations and Historically Black Colleges and Universities to engage in discussions that will forge new partnerships and address workforce diversity challenges facing the tech industry. Attending on behalf of SAP will be Kevin Richards, Vice President and Head of U.S. Government Relations, and Danny Allen, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, SAP Labs. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
