The grant, awarded to the Lauderdale County Commission, will help purchase and install specialized workforce training equipment at the soon-to-be-completed Lauderdale County Workforce Training Center. Once operational, the center will provide training and certification programs in areas such as welding, mechatronics, aircraft maintenance, power generation system maintenance, and machine tool technology. Approximately 150 students are expected to benefit from workforce training opportunities supported through the project. “North Alabama continues to experience strong economic growth, particularly in industries like aerospace, automotive, and advanced manufacturing,” said Congressman Aderholt. “This investment will help ensure our local workforce has the skills needed to fill these good-paying jobs and support continued economic development across our region.” The ARC grant will be matched by $1 million in local funding, bringing the total project investment to $2 million. Congressman Aderholt emphasized the importance of the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is funded by Congress to support economic development in Appalachian communities. “ARC is an important partnership between the federal government, states, and local communities, and it is funded by Congress to help strengthen economic opportunity across Appalachia,” Aderholt said. “I strongly support these types of investments because they help build a skilled workforce, attract employers, and create long-term prosperity for our communities.” Lauderdale County has experienced significant growth in recent years, creating strong demand for skilled workers in local industries.
