Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) released the following statement today after the Ways and Means Committee passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to reform America’s outdated and overly complicated tax code. “Following a week-long markup, in which we openly debated the details of this bill, I am glad to see us take the next step toward meaningful tax reform by passing it out of Committee,” Smith said. “Simplifying 70,000 pages of tax law is no easy task, but Americans are depending on us to get this done. “We made important updates to the bill this week, including provisions which will provide greater relief to farmers and small businesses.
