Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32), today released the following statement after joining House Leadership and members of the Texas delegation at a news conference discussing the agreement reached by the working group tasked with addressing outstanding issues with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA): For North Texans, trade with Mexico and Canada means jobs for more than 36,000 folks in the 32nd District, which is why this has been such a priority for me. Trade is critically important to our North Texas economy and I am glad the working group delivered a path forward that strengthens enforcement around labor and environmental issues. This agreement will shift the trade paradigm and will work to create a new standard for trade agreements that will protect workers and the environment both here at home, and across the North American continent. Though the misguided tariffs and prolonged trade war has hurt our region, Congress can create some much-needed stability by moving forward on this agreement that will allow our businesses and workers alike to succeed. Allred joins House Leadership at a press conference today announcing an agreement by USMCA working group. In July, Allred co-led a letter with Congressman Scott Peters urging action on USMCA to resolve outstanding issues and move forward.
