This represents 18% of Amodei's prorated budget for 2011. He was sworn in on September 15, 2011. "Nevadans across the second congressional district have had to tighten their belts during these tough economic times. In the face of such challenges, trillion dollar annual budget deficits, and $15.5 trillion in debt, I think it's important to lead by example and run a fiscally conservative office. My goal is to provide the greatest possible service to my constituents at the lowest possible cost to taxpayers," said Amodei. During his six months in Congress, Amodei supported a provision to cut his personal office's operating budget by 6.4% from the previous year, which was on top of a 5% cut from the year before that. He also voted in favor of extending a pay freeze for Members of Congress and federal employees.
