Among other things, this means a 2.7% increase in pay for our servicemembers, funding for our military at a rate $25 billion more than what President Biden and Democrats initially proposed, including providing the funding necessary to counter Chinese and Russian military hostilities, and a requirement that the Secretary of Defense recover all aircraft provided by the U.S. to Afghan Security Forces that were relocated to other countries. “As I predicted and requested, the “red flag” gun law provision was stripped out of the original FY22 NDAA that passed the House in September. Not to disagree with those in the national media who are always 100% right, but I was confident that this overreaching addition to the bill would be stripped through the Conference process with the Senate. I’m sure glad I didn’t vote against pay for our troops out of fear that someone would take issue with a provision that, predictably, never makes it into the final law. Why? It always has been since Nancy Pelosi has been Speaker. Quite frankly, the American people deserve factual honesty about what legislation means for them and their families instead of what is reported by those who ignore historical reality and scream fire in a building that, in this example, was not on fire.
