The bill would convey three parcels of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land to Great Basin College (GBC), College of Southern Nevada (CSN) and University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for campus expansion. The parcels are located in Pahrump, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, respectively and the plan enjoys broad community support. "If Nevada is to build a diverse, sustainable economy that leverages our assets and cultivates new ones, then we need strong institutions of higher learning," said Congressman Amodei. "As a product of the Nevada System of Higher Education, I'm happy to join my colleagues in re-introducing this legislation and I'm excited about what it means for Nevada's future." “As a former Nevada University Regent and the first person to attend college in my family, I know how critical it is for our students to learn key job skills and to earn a college degree. Our bill transfers federal land to expand Great Basin College, UNLV and CSN so these institutions of higher learning can educate even more Nevada students for 21st Century careers. Transforming these parcels in Las Vegas, Pahrump and North Las Vegas into additional campus space will give even more of our Nevada students the opportunity to earn a college diploma,” said Congresswoman Berkley. “As a Nevadan and member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I applaud Mark’s introduction of the Southern Nevada Higher Education Land Act.
