Today, Congressman Andy Levin (MI-09) released a statement following the request of Attending Physician Dr. Brian P. Monahan that all Members of Congress take the COVID-19 vaccine without delay: Earlier this week, I hosted a tele-town hall with thousands of constituents from across Michigan's Ninth District featuring Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Caller after caller asked a variation of the question, Should I take the vaccine, and how will I know when it is my turn?' Dr. B's answer was unequivocal: your doctor will communicate when it is your group's turn based on your job, age and other factors and you should take it without delay. The Attending Physician has advised that Members of Congress, and next essential staff, should receive the safe and effective Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for continuity of government operations. As such, I am following my doctor's orders and will be receiving the vaccine tomorrow morning. I encourage every one of my constituents to heed this advice and to take the vaccine as soon as it is made available to you.
