In February, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Nestle USA, and others sent a letter to Congressional leadership supporting a loan forgiveness program funded under the American Rescue Plan Act that would provide a payment of 120% of a minority farmer’s outstanding USDA loan debt, with a cap at $2.1 million. Proponents say this program is needed to address longstanding discrimination in USDA’s lending, but farmers don’t have to prove discrimination to receive a payment. Earlier this week, USDA released guidance on the program noting that women are excluded, unless they meet the race or ethnicity requirement, and foreign nationals are eligible, regardless of their immigration status. During today’s segment, Rep.
