The legislation would allow concealed carry permit holders from one state to legally carry their firearm in any state while also improving the accuracy of background check data used by gun store owners through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to prevent the sale of firearms to people who are prohibited from buying them. “The Founding Fathers valued the right to keep and bear arms so much so that it was included as the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. I believe that this right is as important today as it was then,” said Rep. Austin Scott. “I also believe that Americans should not have to ask for permission to exercise their Constitutional rights when they cross state lines.
