The grant awarded to Primary Health Care Inc. in Des Moines was provided by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through Capital Assistance for Disaster Response and Recovery Efforts (CADRE) funding approved in the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act of 2019. Iowans rely on their local health centers to provide care through all manners of disasters from flooding and storms to a global pandemic, said Rep. Axne. I'm glad to see another $1 million of funding I fought for last year in federal disaster legislation coming back to help expand capacity at central Iowa health centers so we can continue expanding access to care in our communities. Last year, after devastating floods hit Iowa, Rep. Axne successfully fought to amend federal disaster legislation in order to include $3 billion for Midwest flood recovery efforts. Rep. Axne has been tracking funding provided to Iowa through that legislation with her Iowa Flood Funding Tracker.
