Bacon Signs on to Letter Supporting Employer Student Loan Assistance 2018-12-07 2018 2018-12 Republican House NE Don Bacon B001298 bacon.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02), along with a number of his colleagues, signed on to a letter urgingSpeaker Paul Ryan and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to include the Employer Participation in Student Loan Assistance Act (H.R. 795) in any year-end tax packages. "As more students are choosing to attend higher education, our system to pay for college has not kept pace. Seven in ten college seniors graduate with debt, taking away from their ability to invest, purchase a home, or save for retirement. As the price to attend college has skyrocketed, so has thedebt of our students, who are shackled with high loans.' "That is why I have cosponsored the Employer Participation in Student Loan Assistance Act (H.R. 795), which aims to help students struggling to pay their loans and schooling tuition. This is a commonsense bipartisan solution that allows employers to make tax-excluded student loan repayments up to $5,250 annually to their employees. Students who have left school and are now in the workforce should not be weighed down by their choice to further their education. This is a good solution that allows employers to help their employees with their student debt. "To further this bill, I joined several of my colleagues in writing Speaker Paul Ryan and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, urging them to include H.R. 795 in any year-end tax packages.I am committed to helping students succeed during and after their time in school. We must not abandon people once they leave school. I will continue to look for additional solutions to help solve this issue." ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
