Don Bacon (NE-02) spoke on the House floor to honor Sergeant Dennis L. Pavlik, who is believed to be the last living Korean War POW from Nebraska. Sergeant Pavlik joined the United States Army in October of 1952 when he was inducted at Fort Omaha in Nebraska. After completing training, Pavlik moved to multiple locations across Korea where he and his fellow soldiers were captured and spent 42 days in one of China’s prison camps. “We must honor our veterans from all eras and never forget the courage, service, and sacrifice made by American heroes like Sergeant Dennis Pavlik,” said Bacon. “His story is one to remember.
