WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Troy Balderson, along with 160 House Republican colleagues, joined in a letter to President Biden Wednesday evening urging the Administration to reevaluate its priorities and reverse course on the harmful policies that have led to a worsening of the country’s supply chain crisis and subsequent higher prices on everyday items. “The destructive policies coming out of the White House are making matters worse, not better, for economic growth and the current supply chain crisis,” said Congressman Balderson. “Small businesses are struggling to find workers to fill available jobs, grappling with supply chain shortages, and facing the prospect of laying off workers who refuse to comply with President Biden’s vaccine mandate. Fueling uncertainty further, the Administration continues to push for a multi-trillion-dollar ‘human infrastructure’ package that would raise prices for consumers and tax businesses at a rate higher than communist China.” The letter asks President Biden to call on Congress to halt discussions on the multi-trillion-dollar reconciliation bill that aims to fundamentally change this country and to instead work on real infrastructure solutions that focus on alleviating supply chain bottlenecks and helping to ensure products reach store shelves on time. Balderson, a Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, points to common-sense solutions to alleviate the worsening bottleneck in America’s supply chain. One such solution would be the passage of the DRIVE-Safe Act, legislation championed by Rep. Balderson, which would lift prohibitions that prevent commercial truck drivers, ages 18-20, from crossing state lines. “As supply chain delays worsen across the country, the DRIVE-Safe Act would provide the common-sense flexibility needed to address America’s shortage of qualified truck drivers,” added Balderson.
