It is unacceptable that VA would place the education of our veterans in jeopardy by promising them a regular payment, which our veterans rely on, and then allowing delays when payments are due. This Congress has passed significant GI Bill reforms and funded VA at the highest level ever. But far too often we find the department's information technology (IT), which underpins nearly every VA function, is inadequate to deliver on promises made. As Chairman of the Technology Modernization Subcommittee, I am committed to looking across VA and making sure IT systems are being improved in an effective and fiscally responsible manner. I look forward to examining the issue in next month's hearing.
