Barragán Statement on Department of Energy Study on the Impacts of LNG Exports 2024-12-18 2024 2024-12 Democrat House CA Nanette Diaz Barragán B001300 barragan.house.gov barragan https://barragan.house.gov/news scraper FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 18 December 2024 Contact: Kevin G. McGuire, 202-538-2386 (mobile) Kevin.McGuire@mail.house.gov WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Nanette Barragán (CA-44) released the following statement after yesterday’s Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) exports study released by the Department of Energy, that found the approval of additional LNG exports will raise domestic gas prices, worsen the climate crisis, and harm environmental justice communities. “The Department of Energy’s study confirms what frontline communities have long known: increasing LNG exports worsens pollution, drives up domestic energy costs, and accelerates the climate crisis,” said Rep. Barragán. “These impacts disproportionately harm environmental justice communities, who already suffer from cumulative pollution and health inequities. I urge the Administration to deny the remaining LNG export applications to protect vulnerable communities from further harm.” ### Congressmember Nanette Barragán represents California’s 44th District. She sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. She also serves as Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC). 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z
