Barry Moore (AL-02), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, questioned Homeland Security Investigations Executive Associate Director Berger on the need to prevent fentanyl from pouring across the Biden-Harris open border. From Moore's questioning: Congressman Moore: "One hundred and ten thousand people in the United States died from fentanyl overdoses last year. I just attended a funeral on Monday. I come from a fairly small town, and this young man [who passed away] graduated with my daughter. I've attended a lot of these funerals. We are losing young people who think they are buying Xanax or vape pods, but they are actually laced with fentanyl. Why are we losing the battle to save our young people in America, what can we do to help you win it, and what are the issues that keep you awake at night?" Executive Associate Director Berger: "Thank you sir for the question. Certainly, the fentanyl epidemic does keep me awake at night. We dedicate a lot of resources government-wide to combat these organizations that bring fentanyl into our communities. I think we spoke previously about Title 21 authority, any of these poly-criminal organizations, they are not just trafficking fentanyl into the country, but also trafficking humans and weapons." Rep.
