Moore. “Teaching children that they are defined solely by their race and categorized as either an oppressor or oppressed based on the color of our skin will dramatically erase decades of forward progress and forces children to become hyper-focused on what makes them different rather than the unifying commonalities they share with their fellow Americans. Federal funds should not be used to promote divisive modern-day tribalism, and I am proud to work with my colleagues to prohibit these harmful practices.” Background: Rep. Chip Roy’s (R-TX) Combatting Racist Teaching in Schools Act which prohibits federal funds from going to any elementary, secondary school, or institution of higher education that promotes race-based theories. Mark Green’s (R-TN) bill to prohibit Federal Service Academies – including the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy – from providing education and training based on the Critical Race Theory.
