https://barr.house.gov/press-releases?ID=624E0D91-EF4E-4055-BBA9-4DCD84CB79A9 Congressman Barr, Senator McConnell Unveil $2.3 Million Grant to Jumpstart Paris-Bourbon County Economic Recovery Plan 2021-08-30 2021 2021-08 Republican House KY Andy Barr B001282 barr.house.gov barr https://barr.house.gov/press-releases scraper Paris, KY— U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) and U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today that the Paris-Bourbon County Economic Development Authority in Paris, Kentucky is receiving a $2.3 million federal grant for roadway infrastructure improvements to accommodate the expansion of the Paris-Bourbon County Industrial Park. Congressman Barr and Senator McConnell made the announcement today at an event at Mustard Seed Hill. This federal grant was distributed through the U.S. Economic Development Agency (EDA), with funding made available through the passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that Congressman Barr voted for and Senator McConnell guided through the U.S. Senate as Senate Majority Leader in March of 2020. Congressman Barr and Senator McConnell also contacted EDA to advocate for the Paris-Bourbon County Economic Development Authority to receive this grant award when they applied for the CARES Act funds. “Enhancing capacity for freight traveling to the Paris-Bourbon County Industrial Park will strengthen small businesses and manufacturing in the area for generations to come,” said Congressman Barr. “I was proud to support this project and pleased that the emergency relief that Senator McConnell and I voted for at the height of the pandemic will finish this important project.” “When I spearheaded the passage of the bipartisan CARES Act last year, developments like this one at the Paris-Bourbon County Industrial Park were just the kinds of projects I had in mind. Today, I was thrilled to join Congressman Barr to announce federal funding for this important infrastructure improvement and demonstrate the success of our efforts,” said Senator McConnell. “By supporting development and business growth in the Bluegrass, we will turbocharge the Commonwealth’s economic recovery with new jobs, businesses, and opportunities. Kentucky’s manufacturers are the backbone of our economy and I am proud to work with Kentucky’s other leaders to ensure they have the high-quality infrastructure needed to succeed.” "We here in Bourbon County have been fortunate that we have been able to keep our economic momentum even during this time of pandemic," said Kentucky State Senator Steve West. "The funds made available for the new entrance to the industrial park are essential to keep that momentum moving forward. It would not be possible without the continued cooperation between our federal delegation and our state and local leaders." “It was a great honor to have Congressman Barr and Leader McConnell at Mustard Seed Hill in Bourbon County today to make the announcement related to the $2.3 million award for the Paris-Bourbon County Economic Development Authority from the CARES funding for a new access road for our Industrial Park. The road will improve safety and efficiency for all current and future businesses in the park, while enhancing the economic impact for all the citizens of Bourbon County," said Bourbon County Judge Executive Mike Williams. "All the members of the Bourbon County Fiscal Court and I appreciate so much all that Congressman Barr and Leader McConnell do for Bourbon County and all its citizens!” “The Chamber is excited about the current and future growth of Bourbon County," said Lauren Biddle, Paris-Bourbon County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. The widening of Highway 460 is imperative to allow easier access to and from Bourbon County, and in particular the Paris-Bourbon County Industrial Park. Construction will soon start on a secondary access road to the Industrial Park as well. The Paris-Bourbon County EDA has done an outstanding job at priming our Industrial Park for opportunities. Allowing easier access to Bourbon County from the interstate and easier access to the Industrial Park will provide opportunities for new industry and hundreds of new jobs.” “I want to thank both Senator McConnell and Congressman Barr for their leadership in helping to bring this grant home to Bourbon County. This project is key to our economic recovery from the pandemic and will create jobs and economic growth in the years ahead,” said Gordon Wilson, Paris-Bourbon County Economic Development Authority Executive Director. According to EDA, this development program is expected to create 296 jobs, retain 147 jobs, and generate $214 million in private investment. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T20:11:17Z
