https://barr.house.gov/press-releases?ID=7CDCE1CA-73B7-4974-BD58-B4B7C18E3F61 Barr Releases Statement on Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant Success 2023-10-13 2023 2023-10 Republican House KY Andy Barr B001282 barr.house.gov barr https://barr.house.gov/press-releases scraper Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) released the following statement recognizing the Blue Grass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant's destruction of the last chemical weapons on property. “I am thrilled to celebrate the efforts taken by the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) team in the elimination of America’s last chemical weapons located at the Blue Grass Army Depot. Since 1940, more than 523 tons of chemical agents have been stored in this stockpile of the nation's chemical weapons collection. Because of this feat, the United States will meet its international treaty obligations and provide an example to the world that we are committed to an end to chemical weapons. The workforce at BGCAPP set the standard for safe and efficient munitions destruction. As this mission closes, I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress, the local community, and the Department of Defense to identify opportunities for additional future missions at the Blue Grass Army Depot. My gratitude goes out to all in Madison County who were involved in this historic milestone. Our nation and the world are better off for your service and dedication to the mission now completed.” ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T00:49:26Z
