Congressman Barr was the headline guest on Fox Business Network’s Making Money with Charles Payne to discuss the latest COVID-19 relief talks in Congress. “No stimulus can replace a fully functional, open economy that has open schools, businesses and people who have confidence to go back to work,” said Congressman Barr. “These government lockdowns have weakened our economy and that is why we need to deliver COVID-19 relief for small businesses, families and workers to sustain our economy until the COVID-19 vaccines can be widely distributed.” For months, Congressman Barr has been leading the charge to extend Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding for small businesses to receive a second loan. Forty times, Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives voted to bring legislation providing PPP relief to the floor and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked it from consideration. Small businesses in Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District have received over $966 million in forgivable loans, impacting 118,459 jobs and reaching almost 10,000 different businesses. One business, MVC manufacturing in Jessamine County, worked with Congressman Barr’s Office and successfully obtained PPP funds, a loan from U.S. Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program and a loan through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program.
