https://beatty.house.gov/media-center/news-articles/reps-beatty-balderson-split-on-possible-impeachment-of-pres-trump Reps. Beatty, Balderson split on possible impeachment of Pres. Trump following Cohen sentencing 2018-12-18 2018 2018-12 Democrat House OH Joyce Beatty B001281 beatty.house.gov     legacy President Donald Trump's long-time attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen, found out last week that he will spend three years in jail after admitting to campaign finance violations and lying to Congress. Cohen admitted to paying two women for their silence about alleged affairs with Trump. He said he made the payments to influence the election and protect then-candidate Trump, and court filings indicate Trump himself was part of the cover-up. NBC4's Colleen Marshall spoke with central Ohio Congress members Joyce Beatty (D) and Troy Balderson (R) about a possible impeachment of the president. Beatty said she and her colleagues want oversight and investigation and that she is absolutely convinced a crime was committed. We want justice, we want fairness, but most importantly we want the American people to know what happened and that we're going to bring resolve to it, she said. When you look at the things that have happened now, we have witnesses, people who are related to the president, work for the president and they're all now saying that either they lied or they withheld information. And yes, a crime has been committed. For his part, Balderson said there is not enough information right now to discuss impeachment. I don't want to speculate on something I have no idea what's being investigated yet for sure, he said. We are aware of some of the things out there, but for me I want to make sure what I'm doing and what I'm going to be voting for before I would do anything.
