"I believe Congress has a moral obligation to protect the health and safety of our kids—especially with many returning to the classroom in the midst of a pandemic," Beatty said. "We must make sure that all students have access to the PPE that we know will keep them safe. At the same time, we must ensure that our teachers, faculty, and support staff are also properly equipped to continue their important work preparing the next generation to succeed." She added, "I am proud to be a cosponsor of the PPE for Safe Schools Act because the health and safety of all my constituents remains my number one priority." If enacted into law, the PPE for Safe Schools Act would direct $17 billion to school districts to better protect students, teachers, and support staff. Specifically, the measure allocates: $8.8 billion for PPE in schools and school buses; $6.6 billion to fund additional demands on cleaning staff; and $1.6 billion for cleaning and health supplies.
