Thompson is pleased to announce that more than $1.3 million in FEMA assistance has been approved for survivors of the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred in Mississippi from April 8-11, 2024. This approval comes just two weeks after a federal disaster declaration was issued for the state. These vital grants will help pay for uninsured and underinsured losses and storm-related damage to eligible homeowners and renters in Hancock, Hinds, Humphreys, Madison, Neshoba, and Scott counties. The approved assistance includes: More than $906,000 in Housing Assistance: This funding will help cover costs for home repairs, home replacement, and rental assistance for those whose homes were damaged or destroyed. More than $476,000 in Other Needs Assistance: This aid will support personal property replacement and address other serious storm-related needs such as moving and storage fees, transportation, childcare, and medical and dental expenses.
