Thompson announced the first round of investments in repairing bridges under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Law. For decades, Mississippi has suffered from a systemic lack of resources in regard to infrastructure. The Bridge Formula Program will bridge this gap. Mississippi will be awarded $45 million in fiscal year 2022 to cover 45,023 bridges in poor condition under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This historic Bridge Replacement, Rehabilitation, Preservation, Protection, and Construction Program will provide a total of $225 million over the next five years. This will ensure sustainable transportation options for millions of Mississippians. This historic bridge program represents one of the greatest investments in the nation's infrastructure.
