Thompson T000193 benniethompson.house.gov benniethompson https://benniethompson.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper This project proposes a homeless/disaster relief shelter in the 2nd Congressional District of Mississippi for a seven-county area. Due to the many natural disasters that have occurred in the Mississippi Delta over the past couple of years, it is necessary for the area to have available a secure space for a disaster relief shelter. The Fannie Lou Hamer Cancer Foundation plans to construct a 10,000 sq. ft. headquarters facility in Ruleville, MS. This facility will stand as a memorial to honor Fannie Lou Hamer and civil rights activism that will be a tourist attraction. I.T. Montgomery House Restoration will revitalize the area, increase tourism, and provide economic growth. This project will also assist in the educational and historical value to the community by enriching the town’s history of being the first black community founded by former slaves in the nation. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T02:19:30Z
