Thompson announced$18,789,100 in Community Project Funding that he previously secured for Mississippi’s 2nd District in the House spending bill, which has been included in the final 2023 appropriations funding package. This funding represents a Christmas surprise to many of the entities awarded, and Congressman Thompson is elated to announce the funding because it responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in Mississippi. “I am proud to have secured $18,789,100 in Community Project Funding in this bill, which meets long overdue community needs in Mississippi’s 2nd District,” said Rep. Thompson. “These investments will create jobs with better pay, strengthen our communities, and start to tackle climate change.” Rep. Thompson championed funding for 13 projects that will directly benefit Mississippi’s 2nd District residents. These include the following allocations: $2,000,000 for the Bolivar County Utilization Project $3,200,000 for the City of Clinton for a Regional Wastewater Project $1,125,000 for the City of Fayette Municipal Safety Complex $2,000,000 for the City of Greenville, MS for facilities and equipment $600,000 for the City of Rolling Fork Community Utilization Complex $1,664,100 for the Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, MS for campus safety $500,000 for the Coffeeville's Recreational Park $375,000 for the Emmett Till Historic Intrepid Center Project $750,000 for the Emmett Till Tutwiler Museum Welcome Center $2,250,000 for the Mississippi Delta Community College Training Academy $2,000,000 for the Sunflower County Business Improvement District $225,000 for the Rev George Lee Museums Project $2,100,000 for the Union Station Transit Hub Project Mayor Simmons of Greenville, MS; Dr. Valmadge Towner, President of Coahoma Community College; and Dr. Tyrone Jackson, President of Mississippi Delta Community College, all offered their gratitude for the funding with the following quoted messages. “Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressman Bennie G.
