WashingtonUpdated: April 28, 2020662-335-9003Edition: Historic Pandemics and Epidemics in America High Alert – Shelter In – Social Distance – High Alert CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 Response to Recovery America began its public fight against the Coronavirus in February 2020. Many people I've talked with said, "They never thought it would grow to this magnitude of a challenge. And they have never in their life seen any thing like this before across the country." I have heard their fears, worries, and challenges. Constituents are looking for government leadership to guide them with confidence. They want to see and experience the great American spirit prevailing against the COVID-19 pandemic and assurance that we will be alright as a country and individuals. Under the current conditions, no one knows when we will resume normalcy. We must listen to the medical experts not political propaganda. So, let me assure you that as your representative, I will continue to fight on your behalf and won't back down. As a member of the Democratic party, we keep putting the lives of individuals and small businesses first. You are what makes America great, from the big cities to the rural towns. Therefore the goal, of this COVID-19 update is to remind you of the resilience that flows from us in the Mississippi Second Congressional District. We have survived challenges like sharecropping, the civil rights movement, not just the 1927 flood but also repeated rounds of flooding, school integration, the 1994 Delta Ice Storm, and the loss of Black farm land. On a national and global level we have survived numerous times of war, the Great Depression, the 1929 Stock Market Crash, toppling hurricanes and tornadoes, and who could forget the 911 terrorist attacks. I want to share the chart below which contains videos, links, and an overview of some historic pandemics and epidemics that have hit America - there are lessons to be learned.
