Jack Bergman, joined by his Republican colleagues in the Michigan congressional delegation, sent a letter to Governor Whitmer and Attorney General Nessel calling for the State of Michigan to join the legal action against the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ vaccine mandate for health workers. So far, 24 states have joined lawsuits against this mandate. These suits have so far resulted in a federal court issuing a preliminary injunction, temporarily halting the mandate from going into effect nationwide. Rep. Jack Bergman stated: “For weeks I have heard from health workers, hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and other providers from across Michigan’s First District expressing their concerns with the CMS vaccine mandate. This rule, which was put in place without Congressional approval, will only worsen the ongoing healthcare workforce shortages – forcing many providers to cut their operating hours, reduce the number of services offered, or even close their doors entirely. While we continue to oppose these harmful and unconstitutional mandates from Washington, the State of Michigan must step up and do their part to protect our hospitals, health workers, and patients.” The full letter, which outlines the harm the vaccine mandate will do to communities and health providers – especially in rural areas – can be read HERE. Bergman is also a cosponsor of H.R. 5811, the No Vaccine Mandate Act, which would prevent the Biden Administration from using any funds appropriated by Congress to carry out any rules requiring a COVID-19 vaccination.
