There are numerous reasons why I could not support the continuation of Biden and the Democrats’ spending spree, but first and foremost, the Hyde Amendment has been removed. For more than 40 years, there has been a bipartisan agreement to include the Hyde Amendment, but Democrats want to use tax dollars to pay for abortions. The majority of my constituents do not support that. This legislation reads like a left Christmas wishlist. Hidden inside is language allowing illegal immigrants to claim the child tax credit, making them eligible for $3,000 per child in 2022, as well as granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. The bill costs more than double what Democrats’ have previously stated, and it is not paid for. It provides for $4.5 trillion in new spending, $1.5 trillion in new taxes, including tax cuts for the wealthy and more taxes on low-income and middle class families, and $3 trillion in new debt. | 1 | 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z | 2026-04-06T20:30:49Z |
