https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-statement-glenn-simpsons-house-judiciary-deposition Congressman Biggs Statement on Glenn Simpson's House Judiciary Deposition 2018-10-16 2018 2018-10 Republican House AZ Andy Biggs B001302 biggs.house.gov     legacy WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Congressman Andy Biggs led the House Judiciary Committee's deposition of Fusion GPS founder, Glenn Simpson. As his lawyer promised, Mr. Simpson invoked the Fifth Amendment, instead of answering the questions. Congressman Biggs issued the following statement: Mr. Simpson's testimony is necessary to further determine the extent of the abuse by leaders in the previous administration's police apparatus. They apparently used their power against a political opponent, Donald Trump, during the 2016 presidential campaign. Mr. Simpson invoked the Fifth today, resulting in a recess of the deposition. Consequently, my colleagues and I will follow the rules of the House Judiciary Committee by submitting our questions to Chairman Goodlatte. The Chairman will adjudicate the validity of Mr. Simpson's reliance on the Fifth to avoid answering questions. If the Chairman finds that Mr. Simpson was simply ducking our questions, Mr. Simpson will be required to return to the Committee to continue the deposition, and answers will be requisite. Failure to answer may result in a contempt citation. ### Congressman Andy Biggs is a first-term Representative from Arizona's Fifth Congressional District, representing parts of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek. Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Science, Space, and Technology committees, and is the chairman of the Environment Subcommittee. He lives with his wife, Cindy, in Gilbert. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
