Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) announced that the U.S. Department of Education has granted $520,131 to the Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe through its American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Services Program. "I am happy to support this investment by the Department of Education in our Native American community in southwest Georgia," said Congressman Bishop. "Because of this grant, the Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe's counselors will be able to build on their twenty successful years of administering this program to help Native Americans with disabilities better understand their disabilities and connect them with services they need to pursue and achieve gainful employment." The program provides grants to states, public or nonprofit agencies and organizations, including Indian tribes and institutions of higher education to increase their capacity to provide vocational rehabilitation services, in a culturally relevant manner, to tribal members with disabilities.
