Tragically, the attacks claimed the lives of 2,977 people and injured thousands of others. “It is important that we remember those who lost their lives or were affected by this senseless tragedy, especially the first responders who selflessly risked their lives and went into harm’s way to protect others and save lives. We owe them a great debt. Many died while others were left with lasting wounds, both visible and invisible. “Today, let us remember that there is more that binds us together as Americans than separates us. We must always use our power to overshadow those who seek to stoke fear, anger, uncertainty, and division in order to weaken us. “Let us recall the solidarity and resilience of the American people as the smoke and dust cleared in the days, weeks, months, and years following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The United States unrelentingly pursued the terrorists involved. In 2011, President Obama solemnly announced that Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind of this heinous crime, had been killed in the process of apprehending him.
