Moore M001213 blakemoore.house.gov blakemoore https://blakemoore.house.gov/media/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blake Moore was recommended by the Republican Steering Committee to serve on the House Armed Services Committee in the 117th Congress. “It is an honor to be selected to serve on the House Armed Services Committee,” said Congressman Blake Moore. “I made a promise to get appointed to this important Committee as a freshman member, and I am thrilled to be able to deliver on this commitment for my constituents. The First District’s representation on the Committee is key to ensuring that the tens of thousands of constituents who work at Hill Air Force Base and its several assets have the necessary resources to make vital contributions to our national defense. I look forward to working with my colleagues to support those in the First District who wake up every day to serve our nation and advocate for our national security interests at large, prioritizing pressing issues such as readiness, funding allocations, and modernization efforts.” “Rep. Blake Moore’s experience in the Indo-Pacific will make him a critical asset to the House Armed Services Committee,” said Ranking Member Mike Rogers (AL-03). “I’m pleased he will continue Utah’s First Congressional District’s representation on the committee, and I’m confident he will be committed to achieving valuable reforms in the armed services community.” Utah’s First District includes Hill Air Force Base, the service’s second largest base and home to all depot work for the F-35 fighter jets and Intercontinental Ballistic Missile programs. The District also hosts the Ogden Air Logistics Complex and the Utah Test and Training Range, the country’s largest overland restricted airspace for military exercises and testing. The First District has been represented on the House Armed Services Committee since 1987 by the district’s preceding congressmen, Reps. James Hansen and Rob Bishop. Congressman Moore will use his experience in the Indo-Pacific as well as in management consulting to address the threats that America faces and help solve Hill Air Force Base's challenges, including competitive hiring and building improvements. The House Armed Services Committee has jurisdiction over the funding and oversight of the United States’ defense policy, military operations, Department of Defense, and portions of the Department of Energy. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:19:43Z
