The Community Project Funding was passed as part of the Omnibus Appropriations Agreement to fund the government for 2022. The legislation includes $13.6 billion in emergency aid for Ukraine, and is expected to pass the Senate soon. "This legislation is a major win for our communities, and I am delighted that it contains funding for ten projects in NW Oregon I championed to increase access to critical services and promote equity," said Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. "These projects will make our communities stronger and create new opportunities for families and workers." "Additionally and importantly, there is also an urgent need to send more aid to the people of Ukraine, who are suffering greatly at the hands of Vladimir Putin's unconscionable war. This bill contains critical funding to provide relief," Bonamici continued. "Congress is continuing to work with President Biden to increase pressure on Putin to end his relentless crimes against humanity." The ten community projects funded in the bill are: Astoria Pre-Disaster Landslide Storm Drainage Project City of Astoria $676,875 Beaverton Non-Profit Incubator Development Project City of Beaverton $500,000 Behavioral Health Resource Center Plaza Multnomah County $2,670,000 Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillator Project Banks Fire District #13 $93,500 Construction Trades Expansion WorkSystems, Inc. $1,000,000 The Japan Institute Building Renovation Project Portland Japanese Garden $1,750,000 Columbia County Small Business Resource Center Columbia County Economic Team $175,000 Virginia Garcia Newberg Clinic Expansion Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center $2,124,000 Water Supply System Construction City of Hillsboro $1,000,000 Coastal Margin Observation and Prediction Program Expansion Columbia River Inter Tribal Fish Commission $760,000 Under the rules of the House Appropriations Committee, Members of Congress each submitted up to ten Community Project Funding requests for consideration during the fiscal year 2022 appropriations legislative process.
