Standing before the U.S. House this morning, in an effort to protect hardworking Americans, who may unknowingly subject themselves toidentity theft and cyber-attack risks, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) emphasized Science, Space, and Technology (SST) Committee hearing testimony that warns the public of the ObamaCare website, HealthCare.Gov, cyber-security risks. During his remarks, Congressman Brooks emphasized three written statements by the committee's bipartisan expert panel. First, that there are clear indicators that even basic security was not built into the HealthCare.Gov website. Second, that the vast amount of [HealthCare.Gov computer program] code also means applying industry standards security practices is a task that can have no real chance of success. And, third, that HealthCare.Gov creates massive opportunity for fraud, scams, deceptive trade practices, identity theft, and more. Brooks added that the reply from the bipartisan panel of experts, when asked whether they could recommend the public use HealthCare.Gov given its cyber security weaknesses, was a stunning and unanimous no, do not use HealthCare.Gov because the security risks associated with the website are simply too great. Brooks warned that, HealthCare.Gov, is the mother load for identity theft, internet fraud and other criminal activity, and that, based on their expert advice, I encourage all Americans to avoid HealthCare.Gov, the ObamaCare website, in any way, shape or form until its cyber-security risks are fixed. Brooks concluded by noting that, If these experts are right, and if you are an American citizen who obeys ObamaCare dictates and you suffer from identify theft or other financial losses, the White House response is essentially, Tough luck. You are on your own.'
