This week, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) joined more than 60 House Republicans in sending a letter (attached hereto) to the House Appropriations Committee, requesting they use FY 2015 appropriations legislation to preemptively bar funds from being used to implement an executive amnesty program. The letter states, We respectfully request that as you work to finalize the year-end funding legislation that language be included in all relevant appropriations legislation for FY 2015 to prohibit the use of funds by the administration for the implementation of current or future executive actions that would create additional work permits and green cards outside of the scope prescribed by Congress. Congressman Brooks said, The president does not have the lawful authority to disregard federal law and unilaterally declare that illegal aliens are lawfully in the United States. As evidenced by recent elections, Americans oppose amnesty for illegal aliens. As a direct result of a huge surge in the supply of illegal alien labor, American families too often face difficulty finding jobs, and too often the jobs they find do not provide the income necessary to support a family. I will continue to stand with leaders such as Senator Jeff Sessions and do everything in my power to protect lawful, American workers.
