Congressman Brooks said, History is in order. The Judiciary Act of 1869 sets the number of Supreme Court justices at nine, one chief justice and eight associate justices.[1] The 1869 law has worked fine for 151 years. When President Franklin Roosevelt sought to pack the court with additional justices in 1937, his attempt failed.[2] Now, Socialist Democrats seek to pack the court again to ram through their Socialist, anti-American agenda if given both Houses of Congress and the presidency.[3] Brooks continued, Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey (D) tweeted his support for court packing saying, Mitch McConnell set the precedent. No Supreme Court vacancies filled in an election year. If he violates it, when Democrats control the Senate in the next Congress, we must abolish the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court.'[4] Congressman Joe Kennedy III tweeted, If he holds a vote in 2020, we pack the court in 2021. It's that simple.'[5] House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler tweeted, If Sen. McConnell and @SenateGOP were to force through a nominee during the lame duck sessionbefore a new Senate and President can take officethen the incoming Senate should immediately move to expand the Supreme Court. '[6] The threat is real. Socialist Democrats are dead serious about packing the Supreme Court with liberal judicial activists who will destroy and undermine the freedom and liberty so many of our ancestors have fought for, and died, to give us. We must do everything in our power to stop them. Brooks concluded, I have cosponsored and, if given the opportunity, will vote for a Constitutional Amendment to limit the United States Supreme Court to a total of nine justices. Socialist Democrats will stop at nothing to gain power and ram through their dangerous agenda. I ask that patriotic Americans join me and fight back against Socialist Democrats' proposed political power grab. Socialist Democrats must never be given the opportunity to pack the Supreme Court with liberal sycophants.
