In addition, this is a great day for all U.S. consumers and workers. The North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA) was grossly outdated and failed to put America in a position to succeed. It is past overdue that America modernizes its trade agreement with our neighboring allies so that it finally puts hard-working Americans first. With the passage of the USMCA, Hoosier farmers will have greater market access, manufacturers will have stronger market certainty and incentives to manufacture more goods in Indiana, and Main Street will have less regulatory burden, making it easier for small businesses to participate in cross-border trade. "I am thankful for President Trump's relentless determination and courage to secure this rebalanced and modernized trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, which supports Hoosier workers and promotes economic growth in Southwest and West Central Indiana. It is disappointing Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats delayed this successful trade agreement for over a year, as they continued to put politics over working for the American people. Background United States-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA) is a free and fair trade agreement that modernizes the 25-year-old North American Free Trade Act. Provides 176,000 new jobs, adds $68.2 billion to the U.S. economy, and increases U.S agricultural exports to the world by $2.2 billion. Secures greater market access for America's farmers through eliminating Canada's unfair milk pricing program and allowing new access to U.S. chicken and egg exports and expanding access for turkey exports. Ensures data can be transferred across borders, prohibits the application of duties on digital products, and prevents data localization through the new Digital Trade Chapter. Increases the de minimis level, which allows for duty free shipments. Ensures copyright and trademark protections across borders.
